The Young Brothers, Paul, Jennings, and Harry, caused all kinds of problems for local businesses and law enforcement in the Southwest Missouri Ozarks during the 1920s. There wasn’t much they wouldn’t steal. All spent time in prison. But in 1929, things escalated significantly, when youngest brother Harry killed the Republic, Missouri town Marshal, Mark Noe. This is part one of the story of the 1932 Young Brothers Massacre. This episode discusses the life of the Young brothers, their early criminal career and the death of Marshal Noe. The Young brothers Jennings and Harry took the lives of six officers trying to arrest them at their mother’s farmhouse in 1932. It held the record of the worst loss of police life in one incident until 2001. Sites visited include the graves of every police officer, the graves of the Young Brothers and their parents, and the farm house where the massacre occurred.
