This is episode 2 of a series about the disastrous effort to arrest the Young Brothers in 1932 Missouri. In this episode I visit the resting place of each police officer and discuss their lives. The officers profiled include Sheriff Marcell Hendrix, Deputy Sheriff Wiley Mashburn, Chief Detective Tony Oliver, Detective Sidney Meadows, Officer Charles Houser, and volunteer and former deputy Ollie Crosswhite. Be sure to check out episode 1 to learn about the Young Brothers but it is okay to watch this episode first. Sources used include the book by Bruce Davis, ancestry.com, and newspapers.com.

You're a good story teller. When you were kneeling by the tombstone and had the sun blocked you really nailed the lighting of the shot. Bright , direct sun is tough to film in.

Thank you so, so much! We are almost finished with the new place. Next week they start replacing floors and when that’s done we can actually start moving stuff! But then I have to fix up the old place a bit so we can pay for all of the work we’ve done on the new one, so though we’re getting closer I still have a lot of work coming my way. I might share some stuff about that on Patreon for my biggest fans to get a peek at the hard work.

@@MMorbid When I was younger, I restored an abandoned school house built in 1919.. lived there for 30 years.. it was hard work always but a lot of fun.. and memories I cherish.. I’ll be excited to hear about your progress.. best wishes..

Hey girl, I never heard these stories. Born and raised in Spfld. I've seen that Young farm. I think. I lived in the Young addition where there was a fruit orchard way back.

I doubt there’s a documentary containing this information anywhere. It was fascinating researching each and every one of them. Thank the Lord for Ancestry.com and Newspapers.com. They were an absolute treasure trove of information, and how can you care at all about what happens to these men if the viewer can’t see them as real people? I’m glad you liked it. I’m not a reality show fan, but I would have watched the heck out of a show following Wiley Mashburn and Ollie Crosswhite on the job.

No, though most of them would have known Officer Tom Purcell who was kidnapped by Bonnie and Clyde around this time.

@@Eddunaway-qp5tv I looked this up after answering you and I was wrong. They didn’t even know Officer Purcell. He joined the force a few months after their deaths. Of course he certainly must have had their fates on his mind when he was on his little unwilling joyride with Bonnie and Clyde.

I know, I’m so sorry! It’s been a rough two months. We bought a house, renovated it (I did much of the work), moved in, readied the old place for selling, and now I’m unpacking (again, pretty much by myself.) But after this week I fully intend to return to everyday life. Believe me, I’m ready for that!
