Oddly, I died to chained ogre probably ~40 times, but defeated Gyoubu first try no problem. It's interesting how different bosses/enemies are more difficult for different people.

Lol, I died to chained ogre only once - just because I fell off the cliff. I was like this guy's a joke. Slow, marks all his moves and no need to deflect him, just dodge. On the other hand I died to Gyobu like 10 times. But then I died to Lone Shadow Swordsman 50+ times and I passed.

Gyoubu really looked at a spear and was like "You know this doesn't reach far enough." Like if you want to reach further just get a gun or a bow.

Gunshots scare Onikage and Bow requires two hands to use, and Gyoubu, needs one hand to support himself with his high Weight armour, on Onikage.

I'm 7 months too late, but I'm shocked how no one is pointing out that this man hasn't upgraded anything. He has 1 heal in his gourd. In Elden Ring terms, you b-lined it straight to Margit and then refused to stop fighting him until you won. You're a legend! I'm way more impressed by your fight than anyone else who wins this fight with 3+ heals and firecrackers.

The beginning of Sekiro is generally the hardest for ppl (tho there's much harder areas and boss). It seems to either make or break them. It takes awhile to build in the muscle memory. Just be patient and it will click!

@@grantshearer5615 A tip is to always hold your block. Just let go and quickly tap it again when you want to parry. You won't get caught off guard to a quick attack as easily but it will drain your posture pretty quickly, so don't do it too much later in the game.

Funniest thing is that this is the easiest boss in the game. In your second playthrough Oniwa feels sooo easy compared to what you have faced till the end.

@@aaronvarela89 Lady butterfly summons help and if you don't kill her fast the ghosts will appear and disappear many times, making them annoying. With Gyobu you just stand still deflect and jump on him when he does the swing attack. Very easy.

Watching through these now and seeing him fight Oniwa makes me realize that it just hasn't clicked yet and the most satisfying moments in the game are from an outside spectator who has been through it watching it click for others.

can't wait to see the click that every sekiro player has, for me it was when i tried to re-match the third boss in the rematch list the moment i beat him normally (big mistake as it took more than 50 attempts), and for some it happens only on the final boss, but the click makes you become so much better at the game seemingly instantly, but no, its just you realizing you became good

The chained ogre you could easily kill him with fire, if you eavesdrops the two guards they say something about fire there is a prosthetic upgrade with fire you then you sneak him drop him to one life then you stagger him with fire

My first souls game is Elden ring and i still play it from time to time. Second sekiro just like you. Hardest part for me was to realize that Elden ring = Dodge / Sekiro = Parry. It took me way too much time and attempt to realize that u can actually parry a freaking 200kg hammer hit for example with a katana :d

Not sure if youre still playing (Im going to watch your videos anyway because this is my favourite game) but you dont have to try to deflect everything. Sometimes its better to dodge, run, or pull another maneuvre to get past your opponent's weapon and hit them on the way to space. That way you can chip them down so their posture bar stays filled. The corrupted monk is perfect for this - you can do those no hit easy as you can for some other bosses I wont name. Just bait, dodge, hit, and anway. When the boss is down on vitality THEN cross swords. And NEVER get backed into a corner or a wall (unless you put your back there to block certain apparitions). Always stay in a position you can run or dodge from. ps watch out for Robert's dad.

That's funny how it took me 26 tries to beat chained ogre, and 1 try to finish Gyoubu. And this guy spent 27 tries to beat Gyoubu and a few attempts to finish ogre.

Anyone know what music Spicy used during the Gyobu fight? Also, I find it interesting to always watch people either breeze through or hit a brick fucking wall much like or opposing to how i did on certain bosses. Like Gyobu, I absolutely BLITZED through him in one try, but for Ogre and Blazing Bull, and Lady Butterfly I all struggled with immensely.

and you have to talk to the old man to visit the hirata estate as well ...honestly the only boss ive really suffered until now is laady butterfly the hirataestate main boss took me about 30 triess requires total skill....gyobui was fairly easy to beat yiour not using grapling hook on him and you dont have the prosthetic tool axe which help s to kill hime easily

Fun fact: When fighting Gyobu you can straight up block with no deflection and your posture will never break. This works against all of his combos. Just block and chill

I managed to kill him 1st try too, although I had the firecracker prosthetic to help a lot as well. Then I COULD NOT freaking beat Gyoubu immediately after in the memory rematch lmao. Tried 8 times and I gave up. I think I was way more patient in my 1st attempt. Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer

@@Rougie1993 my understanding is that the reflection of strength is way harder than the original fight, but i might be mistaken. My only proof of that is my friend with less vitality than me could tank Genichiro’s attack (can’t remember which) with a little over a fifth of his health, but I was practically one shot by the same attack in the memory even though i had way more vitality.

Yep,there it is that muscle memory,its definitely harder for someone that played any souls game before to learn the sekiro difficulty curve,and the reason its cuz our muscle memory make it so we dodge instead of trying to parry,and that its the fuckery of the fucks,I only learned the way after I faced the snake eyes,she made me suffer unspeakable things...

I feel like Sekiro is a lot easier for people who've never played other souls games, while people who've played souls games find Sekiro a lot harder. Sekiro tends to punish people for spamming dodges and jumps, with the exception of a few bosses like Chained Ogre, hence why he had such an easy time with Chained Ogre and struggled with Masataka. Also, felt very happy when he finally started grappling the bosses

Geni is cool, no matter how hard you find him, he doesn't have bullshit moves (except for his arrow shots that can feel a little bullshit at first) Dying to the man doesn't feel as stupid as dying to an overgrown monkey with constantly flailing limbs that don't fit on your screen

I beat Gyoubu on my second try. Then proceeded to spend the next 3 hours trying to beat his memory. Idk if his memory is harder or not but it definitely feels like it

in the description of memories it tells you that they are far harder to defeat than the original version. So yeah they are much harder to defeat.

Commune with a Sculptor's Idol and confront memories of battle to permanently increase Attack Power. Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa was keeper of the Ashina Castle gate.” Then the actual item description says “The battle memory of an extraordinary foe. Although distant, recollection of such a memory provided sustenance for the Wolf. Gyoubu Oniwa once led a group of infamous bandits, but was defeated by Isshin, who was so captivated by his show of strength that he took him in as an Ashina warrior. Oniwa would later go on to become Genichiro Ashina's most trusted retainer.” Nowhere does it say it’s harder.
