I laughed my ass off when the girl pulled the "scary book" out of her mailbox. I literally own that journal, the exact same one. It wasn't a designed prop or anything, just a sorta traditional looking pleather journaling book from like barnes&noble or whatever

Besides how everything in the original set up doesn't make sense, creeps and killers hide in plain sight. It would've been better to set up the background with the rumor being that Ethel, an elderly woman who is a shut in, killed her whole family with poisoned candy on Halloween a long time ago when she was like in her late 20s-early 30s, but because they didn't have a way to test for poison back then the cops concluded it must have been a fatal allergy to the candy that the family didn't know about. Cut to however many years later, Ethel is now an old woman, the two girls are going around selling candy for their school, are about to go up to Ethel's house but are stopped by a nice normal suburban mom type neighbor who tells them the story about Ethel's family and warns them to stay away from Ethel, but in the end it turns out that the neighbor actually gave the poisoned candy to Ethel's kids who were her classmates and Ethel was trying to protect the local children from her.

💀💀OMG THE TAMPON LINE💀💀 sorry but the fact that someone actually thought that, put it in a script, AND somehow got it greenlit and put into film, all without anyone correcting it, was the scariest part of the movie. FYI: one normal tampon is good for up to 8 hours and if you have a heavy flow one more absorbent tampon is also good for 8 hours. putting 2 in just sounds like a nightmare especially since you apparently only get 4 hours out of all that suffering. just bring an extra in your purse if you will need more than one. men must think that we have to change our tampons every 30 minutes for 4 hours to sound like an extra long time to get out of one. 4 hours is actually the low end of the time range for a tampon, but you should always change them after 8 hours because of toxic shock syndrome. seriously tho that was really a spooky moment for this movie.

I really appreciate this juicy and salty production commentary from someone who knows stuff and can point out the details...like "they're walking slow because the camera operator has to walk backward..." Text communication _has_ been presented efficiently in movies, but why would they ever think watching someone real-time type on their phone extensively without other stuff happening also made an interesting scene? I think the repeat of the "Okay, ho" line was actually a professional actress providing different readings of their provided line - doing a variety pack of improv takes one after the other and the editor either didn't realize they grabbed two of the same line or just neglected to pick one.

OH. my god!!! The Pickled Chocolate is literally a very bad photoshop over a Coffee Crisp bar! It's a coffee flavoured bar here in Canada (iconic canadian treat). if they couldn't figure out how to explain ethel's scenes other than having her talk out loud, they should have had her talking to the skull of one of her victims wilson-from-castaway style. that would further illustrate her break from reality and also have the potential to be funny. it could be set up on like an american girl doll size chair and wearing a little birthday cone hat. we could have beats of silence where we cut into a closeup on the skull as if it's responding. she could get into an argument with it about whether or not she grinds up the toenails enough to blend with the caramel or whatever. she's like, "that's why i mix it in with the almond crumbles. that's the POINT. i'm not going to explain this to you again. just because it's your birthday doesn't make you the expert here." like a little bit of creativity or willingness to play around could improve the thing but they're boring

Credit where it's due, the ending did surprise me. I thought they'd reveal that the random kid that Final Girl murdered didn't count, so Aunt Ethel still has to kill somebody and Final Girl murdered an innocent child for nothing. I guess that would've made too much sense for this trash fire, though.

First off, freaking love ya, your videos are a highlight in my week! Now, this is Crucially important: have you seen the little-know, yet fiercely loved Cherry Falls, 1999? Britney Murphy, jay moore, Nolan from Revenge…this movie is (and I rarely use this word) a masterpiece of teen slasher horror. Enjoy!

I always really enjoy your commentary's balance between jokes, film making techniques, and suggestions for ways that the film could've been stronger! If you want an absolutely terrible Christmas horror movie to review, The Elf on amazon prime is a mess. I watched it with some friends at a Christmas party a few years ago and the "cursed mark of the elf" is literally a png they added in post, couldn't even bother drawing it on in sharpie
