Wow! This has to be one of my favorite videos! So beautifully said! Everything you described about “Officer Coffee” made me feel the experience! It makes me really think about how he truly cared .. enough to spend the time to talk, and to get to know you as an officer. He was definitely “old school”. How refreshing to be able to meet and work with these type of experienced officers. Thank you for sharing such great advice. It proves that people gravitate toward people who make it comfortable, and inviting like he did. Especially when you’re new.. more importantly for a rookie. Having these types of mentors, an officer to look up to gives you that connection…the ability to see this as an amazing career. It helps because you really connect to “why you chose this profession “. I feel like when it’s just a paycheck you can’t wait to get out of there vs when you are there for that career that makes you put all your heart and soul into it. Thank you Anthony! Great video! What an honorable tribute to him wherever he may be. He obviously made an impact after all these years! Much respect. 🙏🏻

I appreciate your content. I find great satisfaction working in corrections. God calls us to love our neighbors and it just so happens that my neighbors are often times inmates. It’s easy to love the lovable but loving the unlovable causes growth. Loving others comes in the context of loving God. Dominion comes through service and humility.

This video spoke so much life into me just now! Today starts day 2 out of training and in the yard. I and a few other “new boots” were placed out there with no radio and mace. When we asked the senior CO’s questions they were very short and unhelpful, more concerned with their own heavy workload (and I don’t wholeheartedly blame them I do understand that to a degree it’s just the nature of the business). I was contemplating quitting so I came onto RU-vid looking for a reason to stay and I found it. Even in utter chaos we can still make a difference it’s all on us. Thank you for the inspiration ✊🏽✊🏽

@@TierTalk THAT part of the rounds where the CO put his foot at the bottom of the door? First thing the boss and guys here taught me and now I do my best to remember everytime when I let them out for restroom use or breakfast (JDC, and the cells in our units don't have toilets). I work 3rds. We just sent a boy back.to his home county JDC because he did the most with trying to unlock the doors and he attacked my boss and spit on him. He's refused to participate in any of the programs we have here. Feel bad for him and his parents aren't the best, either. I'm thinking he's fighting so he doesn't go back home. Wish we could help every kid that comes through. -Dannah

We can’t reach everyone. More importantly, in the process of trying to help others..we can never sacrifice our well being in the process. It’s a very tough world we work in

Wow, Anthony you beginning your career in Corrections aka, Law Enforcement is a wonderful story that has a lot of value. The respect you gave your seniors when in training, taught them to respect you back. You demonstrated such a high level of discipline to obey rules, a code of behavior, and tons more, too many to count and all with respect and dignity. New Rookies coming on board should read your journey in Corrections as, it can only make them a better person, a better CO! Heck, in any field really. Made me kinda tear up. The respect and honor you have for your profession and fellow CO’s is amazing. Very well said, young man, very well said!

It is my goal to be a leader in whatever path I take in life.. An influencer, like you are. I just passed PT for the state of MA and I am 32 years old, what a great story you tell here. It’s not about what we do but why… thanks for having the courage to ask those deep questions and invite us all to ask ourselves have we done enough, and what can we bring to this profession, and from a larger context, what can we bring to this ever-divisive world. Thanks Anthony, I appreciate that you aren’t afraid to show your heart in how you live, even in a profession where that must not be easy…. A prospective CO1
