These old slingshots are truly a work of art done by the finest sculptures. And talk about " form following function"! It's got everything ya need, and nothing ya don't.
Well sitting on the diferancal isent exactly safe what happens if it blows up or when scalding hot oil gets sprayed on the driver at 200 mph that's real safe or when the blower takes a vacation and ends up on the driver like Don garlits had at 200 mph, safe? I think NOT
Yeah but even a picture of "the one" brings back a flood of memories. I miss my racing childhood in the 1970's Orange County Ca. Not California itself now, but the childhood I had before freedom was regulated into submission.
Those old dragsters are cool as hell.... but I can see why they finally changed over to rear engine machines... it's easy just think about sitting what is literally a nitro methane bomb that could go off 😏
I was at the Houston autorama about 10 years ago and they demonstrated this for us from cold start to fuel switch over and then a few ear defining revs UNDER MULTIPLE OVERPASSES! It is a sound, smell, and feeling ill never forget. Feeling each cylinder fire off inside your chest and was like having a V8 heartbeat for a few minutes. Then the defining roar of silence when the engine was shut off. I love America!
He sure knew how to put on a great show, racing on the track, mud drags and followed up with a dose of jet dragster with a car chained behind it and roasted to bits. The 80’s were a great time out there.
@@dicktrickle4197 the puppet master/ventriloquist has one hand up each clowns butt, making their mouths move. Ass clowns shoved up our butts, taking away everything we have worked for, for a lifetime.
Old cars and maybe a few new ones like guys with civics that can program their computer to put more fuel in will be the only thing running when the only sole source of fuel will be what ever kind of alcohol you can cook up in your kitchen. Running pure corn meal liquor is probably not far in the future you can also make fuel out of algae you can ferment fresh leaves and fresh grass. Lots of ways and things to make alcohol with😁
Quit thinking of yourself as old! God gave us 120 years to live and we would be making that easy if we took care of ourselves and ate right!!! Your only halfway there!!!
It's almost embarrassing that watching/listening to this has such a profound effect on me. Literally goose bumps on my arms. Many years ago at Milan dragstrip in Michigan I was at a Vintage drag meet. I had went all through the pits and was walking down beside the track where a few of racers had set up their trailer. At the very end with a trailer up near the tree line srtting in lawn chairs was Pat and Don Garlits, No one else around. I spent probably 20 minutes just casually talking to him. One of my life's highlights.
Growing up listening to WLS radio out of chicago in the 60's and 70's, I would constantly hear the commercials for Great Lakes and Union Grove WI tracks
As a kid in mid '70s drivin up from Chicago trailering dads 11 sec. '55 chevy are some of the best memories . GLdragway still looks the same from what i can see , loved it there.
I love drag racing, I’ve been following it for many many years. And those engines in front of the driver are really dangerous, wow especially when the blower is not strapped down in case it explodes, because they will explode. and the sound of that engine is just beautiful like a fine tuned instrument.💯
Beautiful bad ass car. I so happy i was around to see theses cars run in the 60s and 70s. The March meet and Hot rod reunion in Bakersfield are the best races you can attend.
Unless I miss my guess, that sure looks like a Tony Nancy design... What a beautiful piece! Aesthetically those electric toys sure don't even begin to compare to this beautiful machine.
One might think that because these cars are older, the cackle is not as intense as a big show car, but whole different camshaft in these things and sound absolutely incredible!
