I really appreciate the effort they put in to make sure this game is a major evolution of skate 3 in every way, I’m so glad they plan on making skating more expanded and by extension smoother
Respectfully I’m hesitant. Or more so I’m so used to Skater XL and Session so much this point that I don’t think I can go back to those controls. Also, why did it take THPS rereleasing for SKATE to even be on the table? The skateboarding global market didn’t dip after SKATE 3, it went up.
It seems like they have a team of real skaters, and that makes me very happy. We need more skating games made by actual skateboarders that take the time to code in and animate more tricks like this.
@@ezioassassain skate 3 was completely corporate. It was the Steve Berra/Eric Koston of the franchise. I don’t think 4 will be much different even though it’ll be FTP there will be hella micro transactions
a slow development can be seen as laziness. but sometimes you get developers like these, where you realize they are actually working harder than most developers. and its amazing
I would rather pay for the game tbh, f2p games all are always online and riddled with microtransactions, i want a physical copy to go along with skate 1, 2 and 3.. I hope they release a single player offline mode, so we can at least still play the fucking game when servers go down for maintanence or in 20 years time when they get shut down.
@@Nitroh- very true but physical media is dying and unfortunately this is the future for gaming. If on pc, you can expect a community of people keeping private servers around in the future. Also the fact that its being called Skate instead of skate 4 makes me think that this particular title will jus continue to be updated throughout the years. If warframe can go 10 years strong with the f2p model, hopefully skate can do it too and even better
@SceneXtube yeah skate will be the last game and just continually updated, but even then if dies in a few years EA might pull the plug on it, who knows but thags the problem with live service games and thats why i never invest in skins, everything could be gone in a split second.
DANG! Iam thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail the team are putting into Skate 4. To see slappys and wallies is really cool. Also im stoked to see some coverage on Skate 4. I was starting to lose hope that it was abandoned. I will defiantly be getting this!
Take as much time as you need. I can't wait for this game and knowing how much work and time is being put into it makes it that much more worth the wait. There was a time where I thought we would never see another entry in the Skate franchise.
With how games are released half baked anymore I can wait for true quality. Really appreciate the attention to detail, and having a genuine care for the game and how it’s played by both experienced and new players. Something not as common as it should be nowadays 👏
@@Jaasss Just a ton of linear algebra. I remember learning it in college and applying it to making a small video game. Your brain either gets linear algebra or it doesn't, lol.
I hope that there will still be a lot of falling, because I'd hate to see a totally brutal fail turn into a cool trick just because the game engine thought it would be a slappy and not a faceplant.
I have taken part in a few of the playtests and while I can't talk about anything about those playtests due to NDA I can say my personal feelings so far is optimistic.
What im hoping for is the game to feel how it felt when I first played Skate. The first game had a smoothness and realistic feel compared the next ones and Im hoping they capture that same feeling!
I would like to see a seperate style for skateboarding along the lines of stances in star wars jedi survivor. Where you can either skate either street and vert, or freestyle and hill bomb.
@@Jaasss Last time I've played a Skate game was at a kids club a very long time ago. Normally I don't play a lot of video games, but this honestly looks like fun!
It wont. It's going to be full of microtransactions where you can buy the Chris Cole starterpack for 20 bucks and dino/giraffe/panda costumes for 10 each. Every specific shoe or board will cost a dollar or something. That is where the developers focus is or the game would not be free to play and wouldnt take a decade to release.
I'm honestly really scared that Skate 4 is a Live service game is gonna mean that all cosmetics are gonna be bought from a store and that the quality of the game long term is going to be awful. Blackbox made Skate 3 like St. Paul built the Vatican and I just feel like any sequel made under the current EA Corporation is going to be incredibly lackluster, or absolutely unplayable. I also don't fully understand how the Skate formula will translate into a live service experience and how other then cosmetics (Free unlockables in Skate 1-3) can be monetized to keep up the games servers. Skate fans for the most part are apart of an older group of gamers that played on the 360/PS3 excluding the kids that bought a copy when the game got popular again with TikTok. I just cannot imagine a world where outside of the skating mechanics (which look cool ngl) the game is any kind of major upgrade from the original Blackbox trilogy. I'm hopeful but nervous.

@@Jaasss We all know this.. You realistically can't make a Skateboarding game pay to win unless you can earn stat points like THPS lol. We do not want cringey cosmetics behind pay walls, we want everything they add to the store, to be added for FREE for everyone to access and unlock via challenges or something. Have the same skins/cosmetics obtainable 2 ways, either work for it or pay for it, but no, EA will make you pay for it cause they are fat cunts.
Oh, it’s EA. They’ll release it with no micro transactions first month, then when the reviews are through they will put them in. The game is free 2 play, having no micro transactions is not viable to EA. Especially with that business model. Now whether the game will be “Pay 2 win” well, wait and see. Especially a few months down the line after the games release. Don’t believe what the devs say, because in the end It’s EA’s higher ups and stockholders that call the shots. They are in charge of the business model.
@@Neatrior I would expect cosmetics to be the micro transactions but as long as you can still play the whole game or the majority of the game then it should be fine
@@smackdadickus FC are putting in a lot of work, but they should make the game for hardcore skateboarding fans, get rid of the goofy ahh shit skate 3 had. but the real problem is EA, they will ruin the game with cringe skins and put shit in the store that has nothing to do with skateboarding. the problem with free to play.

This doesn't explain the parkour feature in the game. I feel like it's development time lost putting in a feature that has nothing to do with skateboarding. I don't recall ever seeing a skate video where PRod heel flipped a 9 stair then jumped off his board and started scaling up a wall to the roof of a building.
@@JayDayKay No, I don't. Unless you suck, it's easy. I love the original skate 1 game where you cannot get off your board and still play it today. It's by far the best map, best textures, and most fun to kill time on. You can get up staircases ollieing up 1 stair at a time pretty easily too. Skate 3's map looks like a circus and an arcade had a baby, and then they slapped some historic skate spots over it. So does this new game so far.
This isnt this final graphics, its very very early, theres no shader layer to add realism, or textures to make the city pop, its very gameplay based rn
My hype is lost. They took too long. Session really helped scratch my Skate 4 itch and idk how it would feel going back to the single stick controls. Session 2 would have me hyped.
Not going to lie. Please don’t take offence. Watched many videos. Waited a while. I guess I am ur average customer but y’all have some die hard fans. I understand from a development standpoint how much game development and detail can be, but also I don’t even understand as much as y’all do obviously. I have been really loving skate 3 and got into skate 2 which I honestly might put up there as better or the same. Love both of them. Being honest, was disappointed at first seeing the low poly kind of look, was thinking physics would be interesting. After watching this video, y’all take as much time as you need and want, it took 4 years for skate 2. Like this video was nuts, slappies are insane. Seems that y’all have a team of skaters so rlly love that y’all are focusing on that. Thank y’all so much for the best games and fun out there away from that piece of wood ❤
You're going to see pretty much everything you see in modern skating. This is what is going to take so long... there's a decent list of tricks and variations of those tricks in todays skating world.
Okay, but if you’re skilled at Skate3 you can do wallies, slappies, roll-in’s and powerslide-grinds. Those game dynamics already existed albeit they weren’t the easiest to access

I am a little irritated with how long it's taking but I would assume it's because Full Circles want the take the time to get everything right and have no fuck ups, which I respect.
What was frustrating was that EA gave up on skate 4 back when everyone loved skate 3 and was asking for more. It's not like the game wasn't a best seller. The best business stategy in capitalism is to listen to your customers, and when they say more, you give them more, and buy another yacht with your massive gains, lol.

Black Box (the developers of the 3 Skates) got disbanbed in 2013, so even if EA were going to make another Skate they had to get another team together anyway, which by the point of Skate 4 coming back up in topic again was kinda when Skateboarding games were the most dry, no one was actively playing or wanting skateboarding games around 2012 - 2016. EA didn't see any value or point until people started flooding all their socials with #Skate4 around 2017/2018 when Pewdiepie made a Skate 3 video, which saw a massive influx of sales of Skate 3 to the point where EA had to re print the game and sell brand new copies lmao. From 2010 until then Skate 4 was wanted by the Skate community but by then the community was very small. In a sense, we have to thank Pewds for pushing the idea of Skate 4 into existance lmao
Games take a long time to develop. You shouldn't be irritated. Just forget about the game and stop letting it consume your life. It'll be out when it's ready.
@@LeonBlade Oh trust me I know.. Im just irritated cause of how much they are showing pre pre pre alpha, which depending which way you look at it is both good and bad. Its good cause it shows they care about the process and want people to see what its like early on, but its kinda annoying when that is ALL they show. Would be better if they didnt show us anything for the next few months and the next time we see the game it is in beta or something newer than pre pre pre alpha yaknow.. I dont let it consume my life, sure Im keen to get the game eventually but its not like im sitting here 24/7 thinking about the game lmao
I hope people haven't forgotten that this game is GOING TO BE FREE TO PLAY. That and that alone killed my hype for the game. I don't care how many cool things they add, or what new tricks or features they add, none of that matters if the game is going to be only free to play. This means: 1) there won't be a traditional, offline story mode 2) you'll only have access to the basic gear, everything else will be paid
Honestly i dont mind skate 4 taking forever like gta 6 because skate 3 is a blast and always will be and its not like gta 5 where its pay to win and boring doing the same stuff, gtav is boring now but skate 3 will still be getting love for a very long time so i say they can take as much time as they need cause i know it will be a masterpiece and as long as skate 3 is playable im not complaining
This game isn't going to work. They are adding features to skate 3. It's a DLC at best. Make something new and everyone will buy it. or don't and people will still buy it probably.... IDK
Then how did they manage to release 3 games from 2007 to 2010 all while making full new maps AND adding tricks? We are not fools. You can't convince me it takes 5 or 8 years to make a game after waiting 5 or 8 years of doing nothing beforehand. No one purchasing something gives a damn about who made the product or what they went through either, they have money and they want to spend it. No one would be excited about a 2041 Honda if they stopped producing cars in 2030. They would be BS and say hey, we need a car now and not 11 years from now. Which brings me to the other point, free to play is utter dog shit. I'd rather purchase a game that is complete and doesn't try to sell you 450 dumbass skins or whatever else. I don't want some ultra tiny amounts of in game currency for completing challenges to go toward gear, make it like the original 3 games and make the gear be rewards for challenges. They are going to fuck it all up by copying the horrible Riders Republic system so that they can sell lame, 10 dollar dino suits to 5 year olds who are being neglected by their parents. Sick!
