Have you ever thought of crying as something positive? We met a Japanese man who started a course that makes people cry on purpose with the goal to relieve their stress. So far, he has made over 50,000 people cry through his seminars.
Special thanks to Hidefumi Yoshida for sharing his story.

Yes. I want to go to this place with my siblings and parents. Even though they already know that crying is a healthy and natural response, I would really like to show my siblings that crying isn't necessarily a sign of weakness. It can help you to learn how to express emotion which in the end, can make a person stronger! Sorry for the paragraph lol.

10,000% agree with this effort. A healthy, emotional release might be the answer to address some of the endemic societal problems in Japan, including it's long-standing high suicide rate. "Get a good cry on" is definitely not the full answer, but releasing the negativity from it and ALLOWING people to release any emotions bottled up physically might go a long way in addressing these issues.

I think most Asian Countries have this Stigma of being Perfect from the Outside, not showing a lot of Emotion and express their Feelings as "Western-Countrys" would do, they have their own Way of showing affection and thats fine, but we all need to Cry once in a While, even if its Crying because youre laughing too much. If you Cry you can come to Terms with yourself and your Soul, expressing Feelings is always the Best thing, and you have to Start with yourself before you can do it with other People! I think this Man is doing an awesome Job providing relief for those not afraid to seek it. GOOD JOB!

I had dinner with one of the local workers, and he told me so many sad stories of loss in his community. He eventually noticed that whenever he placed his hand on someone's shoulder while listening to them, they would immediately burst out in tears. Just the simple act of a human placing their hand on another human in sympathy was what so many didn't know they needed, especially in a country where people rarely shake hands or hug.

Yet sometimes, people just don't understand what I've been going through and say "No need to cry. Stop it, you embarass yourself." In the middle when my emotion flows really quick and I have a hard time to stop it. Really, those sentences break my mood more and more. They are not helping at all. Now, i've realized how good to live in country where you can come to your friend, share feelings and cry. Showing your emotions in public still not so good in my country, unlikely. People can judge or people condemn a person who just walks down the street and smiles. A lot of foreigners say that Russians are gloomy. Unfortunately, I can agree. As for the crying, me personally cry a lot, sometimes even in public if I can't control it. That's hard, because I am boy and it's "not normal" for boy by Russian standards. But I don't care. Crying really helps me to remove stress produced by studies, pressure etc. Greetings from Russia! Be yourself!

Crying and tears are prayers without words.

@@vsvhardik8408 if you offer it up as, yes. According to the Scriptures, not a hair that falls out of your head will go unnoticed by God. How much more tears? That is of course if you do not believe then it's whatever you make of the tears, it could mean nothing to you or it can, depending if the person wants to offer it it up. But as I said, if you offer it up as prayer, then indeed it is.

Mister, thank you very much for your contribution. The work you're doing is pretty heroic for a society which wants people to become robots. Please keep doing this.

Crying and also laughing, I would say, is such great medicine!

I feel kinda conflicted about this but it clears up a picture of how mental health is handled in Japan. Sure crying helps you relieve pent up emotions but I this is just circumventing the real problem. The people here need someone to talk to that will actually listen. When people have the chance to release their feelings and have the time to process their emotions, then the tears will flow naturally. I hope these people realize this.

I think it is not really just crying that is one of the medicine for stress management. I think we have to accept our emotion. Sad, tired, stress, laughter etc. This short video actually reminds me of the stereotype behind laughter, another medicine we often underestimate. In some family, it is not okay to laugh (out loud) as it deems unpleasant/ uncultured. However, I personally feel that it is easier to cry than to laugh. With that in mind, we should appreciate people with great humour, and the step-up comedy that uses their stories to influence our lives./ relieve stress. i think all of us can start by questioning all these "social norms" and "common sense".

We also have the culture of "it's a shame for a man to cry" here in Brazil. I think that if we accept our emotions and just let them flow, we would live better.

It’s usually not weakness that makes us cry, it’s empathy. Which means having a beautiful heart. Being sensitive is not a weakness, it is a great strength. Not everyone can allow themselves to feel for others and have true empathy or experience pain because they have loved and lost. It’s better to have loved and loss than to never love at all. The same goes for crying. It is better to have tears and this experience than to allow ourselves to not feel. Feeling means we are still alive. Still very much living. When we stop crying we stop living, we are empty inside, it’s better to be full of life and emotions than to have burnt out all the emotions inside of us.
