A couple points I recall from seeing this movie years ago that were missed here (which is fine) but that I think will make this trippy 80's movie make a bit more sense: 1. The ghosts told Michael not to use too much peanut butter. But he added more because the hair potion was too runny and he didn't want it getting in places other than his scalp. 2. The friend thought it'd be cool to have hair on his legs like an older teen or adult, so he put some of the extra on his legs. For some reason he's able to yell at the leg hair to quit growing and it does. This is never explained.

This movie is actually part of an anthology that includes other titles like “Christmas Martians,” “The Dog Who Stopped the War,” “Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller,” and “The Case of the Witch Who Wasn’t.” They were also all made into books. The last film in this series came out in 2014.

Interesting. I was going to say it really felt like the plot to an old children's story. It honestly seems like it's trying to rip off the style of Roald Dahl with the abusive but comedic adults and the bizarre magical realism.

@janitorsupreme2364
@janitorsupreme2364 5 лет назад
NaomiGigi It’s really easy to mix up, but his name is the Signor. It’s an Italian term meaning mister and is used sometimes as a form of address for an Italian speaking man. I think his French accent is just an accident when trying to make an Italian accent (like how some can mix up British and Australian accents due to extreme similarities.)

Fun fact: I wrote a children's book for PBS when I was a kid. It's called Mr. Sharp's Bad Day, and it's about a shark that bit his tongue off because he insisted on talking while eating. That book that I wrote in a weekend as a young child has a greater action/consequence relationship than this movie that was presumably a bit more expensive.

After watching The Peanut Butter Solution again recently, it reminds me of that one scene with Adam Maitland in Beetlejuice where he molds his head to look like a bird. The Beetlejuice poster that includes the bird head for seemingly no reason freaked me out for a few years as a kid, as it was used in lots of ads for the NES game. But I originally saw The Peanut Butter Solution in December 1989 when I was 7, and didn't see Beetlejuice until at least late 1990.

It might've been legal. The usa has always had a weird relationship with alcohol. Prior to the mid 80s, the age you could drink varied from state to state and what kind of alcohol you drank. It also went up and down and up again over time. I personally think they should either lower it to 18 or raise the age you are legally an adult to 21. In the usa you can sign life changing contracts, join the military, take control of medical decisions, etc., but God forbid you try to buy a beer.
