They are multi million album selling artists, how in the blue blazes can you even say that with a straight face. We were surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of gorgeous/beautiful/thought provoking songs by hundreds of equally or more talented musicans. Their songs were a staple on any station that played this genre of music. I am not saying they are anything short of amazing and to anyone who has nit pigeon holed themselves into a certain genre or artist agree with us...

@tvgator1
@tvgator1 2 года назад
@@BillGraper Graham Nash was a dominant singer during those 60s pop hits. Clarke was a founder with him and definitely sang some good leads but Graham was the engine during those mid 60s songs. Clarke's pop prominence (in the US at least) didn't really occur until after Nash left in '68 (and join David Crosby, and Stephen Stills). That's when HE ANIT HEAVY and LONG COOL WOMAN, etc etc followed. By then he was their main voice and only lead singer. Funny, that Nash left because he felt the group was far too pop sounding, but some those Clarke songs that followed his departure were pretty deep.

Love "The Hollies" lead singer Allen Clarke has a great voice. This was one band that changed with the times. They sounded totally different from the 60s to the 70s. I think you've only listened to the 70s version of them up to now. "Bus Stop"/ "On A Carousel"/ "Carrie Anne" are all from the 60s. 🇬🇧🎵🎙🇺🇸

You can hear the influence for Radiohead's Creep in the music here. I think there was initially some copyright hoohaa over it but it was settled and the Hollie's songwriters got a credit and some rights for Creep.
