First of all, If Ice Cube offered Caitlin Clark 5 million dollars 💵 to play in his 3 on 3 tournament, that’s his business. Instead of being in their feelings with jealousy, the WNBA should welcome Caitlin Clarke because she can sell tickets 🎟️. They continue to miss the bigger picture. It is also unfair to put an enormous amount of weight on a college phenomenon because she is a big draw. The WNBA is truly unwatchable but the league is betting that Caitlin Clark can save a league by herself. That is not going to happen.

To the point of “so they don’t have to go overseas” it could be that he thinks if they make more in his league they won’t feel the need to go overseas in the offseason. The WNBA has actually asked for less games and refused a longer season in player association negotiations so they CAN go overseas. Just think about that. If it gives exposure to the women’s league or whatever and leads to increased interest allowing larger contracts then maybe they accept longer seasons with bigger contracts. Just sayin

Caitlin is the biggest draw in womens basketball period. And she will draw both supporters and hate watchers. Look, Caitlin Clark, as a guard has the better chance to look decent in the Big 3 than Angel Reese, who is a 6'3 forward. Lastly, it's a safer risk ( if you're going to introduce a female) to pick the most popular player who has an international following than a player from a league ( wnba) that nobody cares about. People will watch one game and bail. People will stay to watch Clark, whicj means the move will be profitable. Being profitable leads to more opportunities for other women in the league. Why bring in a player nobody knows from the WNBA?

I don't think Caitlin had anything to do with seeking the offer. They came to her. I think it was disrespectful for them to even make the offer before the finals were over. ESPN was considering giving her $2 million to go back for a 5th year. The money they make off of her games makes it worth their while. The WNBA is filled with players that will try to make her miserable. If they succeed they are cooked. Paige Beckers,Juju Watkins will not go to the WNBA. The top college stars can make over a million dollars in NIL. They have enough of a following on Instagram to just do that. College teams fly better and get better accommodations than the WNBA offers. The more chirping these stars do, the less attractive. The league is going to look to potential players.
