By far ,one of the best hotshot channels I've seen, and I've seen them for 20 years, a true 👍 professional 👏 looking forward to all the vids. God bless you and your family 👪 🙏. 🙏
I just recently obtained my class A CDL and got a Ram 3500 and a 40 ft mega ramps. I’m based out of Texas and I’m just getting ready for my first load. Your videos have gave me more valuable knowledge than any other source. Thank you brotha and keep it up 💪🏽💙
@@NBM-Transport I do not plan to mention expenses because everyone’s will be different. The purpose of my videos is not to show how much net income you can take home. I mention load prices just to show what’s out there but mainly my videos are for entertainment.
It took me a few minutes to realize the cardboard and the moving blankets were to protect your tarps, not the load! I enjoy your videos and I envy your job. Having 65 employees, I dream about doing a job where I have nobody to be responsible for other than myself.
Oh wow. That’s a lot of employees. Yes I usually put blankets on the front edges especially when ai have wooden crates. The wind hitting the tarp will pierce it against the wood. Also I had to use cardboard because these crates had a lot of metal on top that was sticking up.
I like how professional you are, You and your truck are clean and look great. That's the way to do it. Keep it up buddy, you're doing a great job. Thanks for the content.
Another awesome video brother! I know it’s a lot of work to get and edit the footage for the longer videos like this one but I appreciate it, we all do. Your work ethic is top notch. You’re neat and tidy with your straps and securement. Thank you brother!
Thank you! Really appreciate the positive comments and your support. Making these videos and editing them and finding music is like a second job on its own. lol. It’s time consuming. That’s why your positive comments and support makes it all worth it. Appreciate ya! 👍🏻
@@1timeforthe1time21 many drivers competing and a lot of brokers don’t want to pay enough for loads so when a good load pops up, everyone attacks and tries to get it.
Thank you! I use bulletpoint mounting solutions holder and I have an additional mount for go pro camera. www.bulletpointmountingsolutions.com/collections/2019-ram-truck-1500-2500-3500/products/rubigrid-2019-ram-truck-1500-2500-3500-trx-dash-mount
Hey, I have a question for you. Great videos by the way was wondering do you get paid immediately after dropping off the load or do you have to wait to get paid? And if so, how long is the wait?
Thank you. Since I use factoring company, as long as I upload the signed BOL before noon, I will get paid next day. If you don’t use factoring company then it’ll take anywhere from 30 days and more to get paid.
Hey Alex, I’ve been a hotshot driver for almost a year and Im open to use the best methods of strapping tarping etc., its the first time I see the way you use your straps, why is it that you dont just keep them rolled up in the sliding winch?
Great vid Alex ,enjoy watching your journey from Toronto. I drive contruction float here ,real heavy and wide . Just wondering if you can tarp first then strap all together then bungy cords ,Cheers and safe driving .
Thank you! Appreciate your support. Yes you can tarp first and then strap and bungee. Just depends what type of a load you’re tarping. If it’s like a square crate then that’s perfectly fine. Of its something abnormal shape then that would be a bit challenging.
I recently got my cdl with a mission to save and buy a truck & trailer drive for myself, I see you drive a ram and I hear many things about Ram vs Ford when it comes to hotshot. I’d love to hear your opinion Alex
I’ve never had or driven a Ford so can’t say much about them. I’ve only seen RU-vid video of frame flex comparison and Ford frames have flex in them vs Ram are solid. Ram trucks are reliable and they have plenty power. That’s all I can really tell you.
Yes. 7 days. I don’t count my net weekly and honestly prefer not to talk about it because everyone’s net will be different. I’ll tell you that it’s at least 60%.
Great video! I got a Christmas for you. I know you put your video going fast to save time but man it look like those big ricks were going faster than you. How fast were you going? Downhill a lot of these trucks that go like 70 80 mph and that's kind of stupid but great video
Thank you! In California the speed limit for truck and trailer combination or any vehicle towing is 55 mph so I was going no faster than 65 I believe. Yeah I agree a lot of the semi drivers love to fly downhill and fry their brakes too. Makes no sense. 🤷♂️
I use a keurig. You pour a 8oz bottle of water or so in it. Leave the pod empty and it brews hot water. Slide the noodle cup under it, hot water comes down then let it sit 2minutes and there you go. Keurig k mini single serve coffee maker.
I was actually thinking of getting that to make my own coffee because truck stop coffee is awful but man I don’t have room in my truck to store all of that. A toaster for bagels would be nice too 😁
Enjoy watching your video's -Alex. I'm trying to eat healthier also-I do oatmeal a couple mornings a week-but I'm not on the road-now at 74, fully retired. I put a couple spoons of pure honey/then a dollop of butter-sprinkle salt and pepper on mine. Never tried the peanut bu6tter but I will. Thanks!
Thanks Glenn! 🙏 You need to be relaxing and enjoying life now. That’s enough working 😁 Sometimes I use mixed nut butter as well. Costco sells it. It’s really good.
@@donttruckhere incorrect. If it was highly processed it would raise your blood sugar level pretty high. I’ve checked mine after oatmeal at 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours after eating it. Never gets high. When you buy old fashioned oats they have no processing at all. The instant oatmeal on the other hand is processed. That’s why it’s instant. That oatmeal isn’t as healthy. I’m not sure where you get your oatmeal being unhealthy info from.
Do you book from a load board of just have a dispatcher? Just trying to see if this is for me. Thanks for the info in your videos. Seems like you’re making decent money even after expenses.
I use both. I have a dispatcher but I also keep an eye on the load board in case my dispatcher misses something. Overall I do good but I also have bad weeks like everyone else.
I'm amazed you got your tyre covered under warranty. I have a ford ranger in the uk, pulling car transporters, no way would Ford cover me for tryes on warranty. If that's what you are saying. Great video's, keep them coming. Calorie conscious just like me dude. Mind you i couldn't put away the amount of doughnuts you consume maybe 20 year's ago i could. Safe driving.👍🇬🇧😁
Thank you! The tires aren’t originals. I purchased these at Discount Tire and bought road hazard warranty which covers anything that happens to the tire. Being calorie conscious is important if you want to stay in shape 👍🏻
Alex, I noticed you have a covered those tarps so they don’t get ripped but I thought you had just purchased these heavy duty tarps. Maybe if you can tell us where those can be purchased but I know you still want to try to keep them from getting get ripped also, I was curious about the eight tiedowns on the driver side. Do you ever have a need to put any on the passenger side?
I didn’t understand the part about covered tarps. I keep my tarps in my wood rack under the trailer. One of the tarps that’s still in its cover is the 27ft 8 ft drop tarp. I have never used it. The other two tarps are just rolled up and stored there. I’ve had all my tarps for a year. I purchased them from myteeproducts.com I do put blankets on the load when I tarp to keep the shark edges from piercing through the tarp. 👍🏻 The strap winches you are referring to are usually on one side. Sometimes I use regular strap and ratchets and put them on the other side if I have a need for it.
@@Mr.AlexKogan hey Alex, thanks for the flies always yeah for some reason I was thinking in one of your other videos you talked about getting a thicker tarp because they were tearing but I’ll take a look at that website. Maybe they offer different quality and that’s what I was getting confused is that you already have the better made tarps that last longer, but you still want to protect them from tearing makes sense
@@Mr.AlexKogan It might have been, watching too many videos trying to learn what I need to get setup and running next year! LOL..... Thanks for all the amazing content
I used to do packet oatmeal but those are not the real oatmeal. Those are considered instant oatmeal and are not as good for you as the old fashioned slow cooking oats but they are quicker to make if that’s what is more important 👍🏻
I would love to do this. Get my CDL and be my own boss and not have to answer to any one just haul cars in a 2 car enclosed trailer and see America at my own pace
@@Mr.AlexKogandude that’s really awesome, I came across your page when I started doing my research on this industry & I really love the content you put & how well maintained you keep things
I have another question Alex, I’m in the same business you’re in, only problem is trying to find out how to get great loads. Is there anyway we can get in contact with each other? Thx
Im currently and extremely considering starting my own hot shot company with just my self whats the first thing you recommend that i do or have suggestions
First step, buy truck and trailer. Then register your company with your state. Apply for DOT number and then apply for authority to work. Before applying for authority you have to have commercial insurance.
@@chrisgrundy2576 I’ve been doing it 3 years. It’s not really easy to find loads because the rates are low and when good loads get posted they get snatched up real quick. Lots of headaches trying to book good loads.
Nice gross. Where is Nola? I workout on my resets or sometimes if I’m stuck without a load and there’s a gym near by. No fasting for me. I just eat strict. It’s hard to eat right but once you do it for two weeks it becomes a habit. I do meal prep so I always have healthy food with me. I use a fridge that uses 12 volt cigarette plug and I keep my food in it.
@@user-ji7ig5qj4e oh ok. New Orleans. I didn’t catch that at first. I am thinking of getting a hazmat endorsement myself. Some good paying loads out there.
@@Mr.AlexKogan Hello. Let me properly introduce myself. My name is Neil operating under NBM transport. I just purchased Ram 3500 and a 40FT gooseneck trailer however due to insurance cost I may need to operate under another company’s authority. The goal is to be independent. I need help in finding the best insurance with affordable rates? Also base on your experience what is the minimum monthly rate for general freight Insurance?? Any feedback would be helpful.
@@NBM-Transport Hello Neil! It’s hard to say what the minimum monthly rate for insurance would be. It’s different for everyone based on your age, driving and accident history, credit history. It’s always going to be higher for the first two years as after two years you have more insurance companies with better rates that will work with you. In the beginning average is $1500to $2200 per month.
I usually get the natural PB at Aldi or Walmart. Only ingredients are peanuts but I just don’t like how runny it is vs jiff. I know jiff and others have additives like palm oil and stuff. Is Adam’s runny or creamy like Jiff?
I keep my dispatcher info private but lots of truck drivers use dispatch companies to find loads for them. It would be really hard to do this yourself while driving or loading.
@@devs6.7 you don't buy fuel? You don't have break downs? Repairs? Do you not eat or shower? Or ever have to buy parts? Y'all hot shot drivers are a joke.
I’m curious, are you even in this field of work? Who breaks down every week? Showers are free after fueling up. No one buys parts every week or even every month. If you’re running an old truck and you don’t maintain it than yes you’ll be breaking down but if you keep up with maintenance you’ll be good. I have a feeling you don’t know much about this work because you say after expenses that $7k doesn’t add up to much. You are 100% incorrect my friend.
Do you think that just by driving in the state of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, possibly South Carolina could generate that amount of money? The reason is that I have a brand new baby Lol
That my friend is a tough question to answer. Florida is an awful state for loads. I’ll tell you that much. This business is unpredictable. You never know when you’ll find a good load and where it’ll be and where it’ll take you. It’s like gambling. If you want to stay local I think it’s best to make friends with companies that constantly ship freight that can use you all the time.
I’m out of Florida , I try to stay local but man it’s so bad I’m in Nebraska right now just shut down , should be making my delivery in Utah tomorrow, keep up the good work boss and just stay consistent
@@HotshotFiggss Thank you! Florida is awful for freight. They don’t pay anything. Hope you are able to get out of Utah fairly quick because for me it’s always hard.
Thank you! Unfortunately no donuts that time 😁 Trying to mix it up and not put donuts content in all the videos but they will be in future videos. Appreciate you watching and supporting 👍🏻
Here we ago again. You must not be in the trucking industry because you know absolutely nothing about what you can and can’t make. Why would you even post that comment?
@@donttruckhere lol. You are doing something wrong then. Ive posted a video previously showing my rate confirmations for a week I grossed $8900. I’m not going to show my rate cons all the time. It’s sad that the guys that aren’t successful in this business have to hate on the ones that are actually doing good and tell me oatmeal isn’t healthy. Come on bro grow up.
I think making 4 million net a year is pretty succesful if you ask me. Our Cost our LOW and we have great paying local and regional customers. like I said 7k a week is possible but definently not in a pick up@@Mr.AlexKogan

I don’t keep them rolled up for a couple of reasons. Reason one is when I throw my strap over the load, I don’t like throwing the hook side, I prefer to throw the strap side. Reason two is in winter time if you have freezing rain, you will not be able to use that strap if it’s on your winch. It freezes solid. Had that happen before.

I don’t keep them in the sliding winch because I don’t like to throw the hook side over the load. I like to throw the strap side over the load. Also in winter time if you have freezing rain, everything will freeze and you will not be able to use the straps.
