Timber Mountain is a great spot for a overnighter, no crowds that way. Trader Joe's has a great packet of coffee, everything inside ready to go. Enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing. Take care.

Oh man...yeah I've had that Trader Joe's coffee. Holy smokes is it good. Yeah Timber was fun for sure. Everything past the saddle was an absolute dream! LOL!

Awesome picture of the sunset! Looked like you had a great trip with solitude. For a minute there, it seemed like you hiked to a swap meet.

Always look forward to your, and Matt's uploads brother. I resulted in copping every poo Ferry bags at my local trail 43 to be exact for this same reason. They come, walk the dogs and bag and leave said bag along trail. I figure give a few day and swift kick in the brush, is better than plastic laying all about. Picture entering path to see 2 turkey buzzards who know how to eat the contents helping themselves to it. Humans huh. Be well brother, now I must endulge in the rest of your video, Terry

Looked like a fun trip for both of you guys. Last time we camp in the area, Alan and Luis got to the parking at 6:00am but they end up finding parking spot half a mile down the road.. now it’ll be like that again. But I got there around 11:00 am and easily waited for a couple of minutes and early birds were starting to come down and made it easy to grab a spot. That trekker tent is really convincing I might get it if ever I’ll buy a SMD shelter.

Bro I was absolutely up the mountain with parking this time. But yeah dude that's a great idea about showing up a little bit later. Almost doesn't make sense but it actually makes perfect sense. Any yeah man, for whatever its worth the SMD Trekker is absolutely great!

Nice video. And nice to see you and Matt. I love my chair and butt pad. I always carry it. I’m hitting the Grand Canyon this weekend with both.

Cool video. Can't wait to watch more. I have been looking at the SMD Lunar Solo. I am kinda waiting on OV to come out with their trekking pole tents. To many people out there for my liking.

Dude, that was fun. Always type 2 type fun. Was super surprised by how quiet Timber was in comparison to the saddle. I guess since it is not part of the 6 pack, it's not worthy. LOL! I don't mind not going where the crowds go, and it appears, they really don't go to that peak. Good video, and thanks for the Pods idea.

Hey Tuba Solo! Thanks for the awesome content, I Love all your videos!! Question I have is what Trekking Poles do you use and recommend for use with Tents? I'm Close to pulling the trigger on a SMD tent, most likely the Lunar Solo (I'm similar height and body size as you, your videos have really helped me with this decision). I have looked through a ton of your videos and your gear lists but haven't seen what Trekking Poles you use. Thanks in advance and I hope you have an awesome rest of your day! Also a big thanks to Matt for turning me on to Hilltop Packs (I let Ben know how I discovered his products)!

Hey there. Thank you for all the kind words. I use Zpacks poles. Been using them for about 3-4 seasons now and they have been very good to me. Hope that helps.

It seems like every trail in the Angeles is congested as heck this year. Still some great hiking, though. Been up to the saddle and over to Cucamonga and Kelly Camp, but never headed up to Timber Mtn. Looks really nice. Thanks for the video!

27:37 Great shot! What camera are you using? Bluetooth speakers are the worst on the trail. However, I found this to work. When someone is playing Taylor swift or Post malone or whatever they are listening to, I simply ask them to turn it off. If it continues, I then proceed to put on some death metal on my phone and hike behind them until they stop. Works every time.
@TubaSolotheHiker
@TubaSolotheHiker 3 года назад
LOL! I'll have to try the death metal music. I'm shooting on a R6. I do like the ability of the camera, but things like the IBIS wobble drive me nuts. I'll be heading out this weekend and I'll be using a different focal length lens and trying to set the camera on the tripod more. But yeah for this adventure it was a Canon R6 with RF 15-35 F/2.8 IS USM. For my next adventure coming up this weekend I'll be taking my Canon R6 with RF 24-70 F/2.8 IS USM.

I would not enjoy the crowds there but good to see you found some breathing room!! I recently got the Stash too! Pretty speedy but I have to admit it's pretty sweet. Great video and love the thumbnail!

God invented hiking permits to save us from that crowd...YUCK. Dude you gotta get an umbrella. Your hiking in the hell of SoCal. Its only good in rain if theres no wind but to not have to hike from shade to shade being miserable...insta-shade. Go hands free if you have poles. I did an August hike here in San Diego on a trail that was closed for an unstated reason...it was because it was August and in spite of the fact that I left at O Dark Thirty, I lost my way costing me an hour and that hour was a big difference. I'll be honest, I layed down for a nap that was 50 /50 that I would wake up. I had plenty of water - it was sloshing in my belly and made no difference. My organs were roasting. I was crawling from bush to bush hiding under them to get out of the sun. so yeah...I will never leave without the umbrella or some other sun shade again. It was a sobering lesson....I'm just remembering how bad it was. When I got turned around and in the laurel bushes I actually waved off a sheriff's helicopter that came to check on the idiot on the mountain...they left but there was a ticket on my car when I got back...on a public street because they knew where I was. I pay more attention to closed signs now. What is the water situation there? I'm dying for a trip and its too early for the sierra's. Thanks for the effort. Cheers PS its permit season, got any Sierra plans yet?
