Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: De Vergulde Hand Shave Stick
Aftershave: Zingari Man Post-Shave Balm
Soap Ingredients:
Potassium Stearate,Sodium Stearate,Sodium Cocoate,Potassium Cocoate,Aqua,Benzyl Salicylate,O-Tolyl Biguanide Linalool,Amino Tri,Limone, Kaolin,Glycerin,parfum,sodium Chloride,TetraSodium EDTA ,Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide,Hexyl Cinnamal,Coumarin
Scent:
A clean, soapy scent. Similar to La Toja and Mitchell's Wool Fat.
Writeup:
This is another one of the products that I show on Timeless Tuesday that will have a similar effect on me.
I use these products and them just...work. No thrills, no fuss - they just do what they're supposed to do and provide a slick surface on your face.
It goes to show, as a hobbyist I expect a lot more from shave soap than is actually required. I left the bathroom with a smooth, irritation-free shave, and isn't that the aim?
At the end of the day, this specific product is very old and I'm unsure if it's been reformulated in that time, but I wouldn't have any problem shaving with this every day, it does what it needs to do and does it well.

The price was original Dutch pricing, now you can get it still for around 3 euro's but buying it internationally via Amazon or other websites it is a lot more expensive. So for all the fellow Dutchies it's still good cheap soap , sadly just more expensive if you're ordering from abroad. They even redesigned the cardboard box and all the yellow is gold now.

The lather does come across as slightly on the thin side on this end of the camera. But that bloody container! It reminds me of a shit 80s toy, or one of those flip and save lollipops.

That's a pretty good form factor for that soap. I've owned it before in the tub. I thought it was pretty decent but I didn't keep it. That stick format looks pretty good though.

It's funny, Jack, I find myself looking for your Timeless Tuesday vid each week now. You finally landed on a soap that I don't have.(that may actually be a little harder than you might think) I've been looking at this soap since I watched Michael Freedburg's video on it. I got this soap in the tub format for 2.99€ in Germany. I liked it, but it isn't one of my favorites. The scent to me is like that of Palmolive with a hint of cinnamon added. Might have to use it for today's shave since it got neglected lately.

I have real nostalgia for this soap, it is a Dutch classic and available everywhere. Simple clean scent, so easy to use, 100% consistent performance, slick lather that takes no effort to build. The post shave is not great, but I really do consider that an extra... Very nice to have and adds to the luxury of the shave, but not a necessity. Absolutely useable as a daily soap, and they must be doing something right...
