I like to use my leftover sock yarns double for warm socks. My friends love them. Usually 1 strand is Paton's sock yarn so I use #3 needles. If you look on Ravelry, find monster socks for fun.

That sounds fun! I do love Paton's Kroy sock yarn. Especially the fun color changing ones!

I liked all your experiments knitting DK socks. I am a fairly new sock knitter and recently tried a DK sock for my brother in law, who has BIG feet. I found the fabric a little less stretchy so went up a size in pattern- maybe should have gone up a size in needle. I am going to try that marling technique. I think it will be fun!

Interesting! I have only done them in ribbing so far so I'm now going to try a pair that are fully knit with ribbings only at the cuff and see if that happens to me as well.
