Tobacco Pipe Stem Repair: Broken Bit and Button

I used this method plus added my own spin to fix my 50+year old Dr. GARBOW now it looks like it use too! Mine was broken even worse than this, and in two places, at the button, and the shank but now it looks great and works like it use too as well!

Plug the hole with some kind of wood stick that's greased with petroleum jelly. The glue shouldn't stick.

I usually use same material that stam made of , grinding it down in a powder phase and mix it with a crazy glue it stays soft for a while so you don't have to rush ,and when i fix the stem like that i shove a metal flat pocket clip from a pen inside.

This might sound outrageous but is it possible to hand buff? I’m guessing it would take long as heck but is it possible

a couple days ago i broke the stem on my fav meerschaum and it broke off clean leaving the peace stuck in the joint thankfully i was able to remove the stuck peace but am not sure it can be glued back on or weather i need to make a whole new stem, its a small pipe compared to the average so i may be able cut something down and fit it, i was devastated wen this happened and kept thinking i cant have anything nice now can i ..this pipe is around 120 yrs old witch stings the more i think about it..well at least the actual pipe portion is fine i just need to sort out a new stem, it would have had an amber stem originally but came to me with a black rubber stem that now ive got to replace probably. sigh....

The crazy glue doesn't reheat and emit chemicals does it?
