Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform "Spike" live for the Farm Aid concert in Austin, Texas on July 4, 1986. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Tightest band in U.S. band history. They gave their everything, individually and collectively, on every tune they played for 40 years. They are the Beatles, Stones and Queen all rolled into one. R.I.P. Tom Petty and Howie Epstein. Stay strong to all the rest of the Heartbreakers still rockin' today.

I love it as well. He was such an awesome musical genius! I listen to him 3-4 hours a night until I passout on youtube. I have been this way since he passed and the tears flow everyday. I wonder what my obsession is all about?? There is a pull on me too stay very connected. Maybe because I am a writer too. I have been working on a few licks in the past few months.

when this came out i was living up north in Michigan had no friends because i did not live there very long & money was hard to come by butt when this came out i had to go all the way to traverse city to get this music witch was a long way away but when i got back home i played it & it just felt soooooo good

spike was my roomate in gainesville in 1973.....it's a true story. spike was his dog's name. robert was his name. spike (the dog) had a heart attack one day and robert left town. if you asked robert why he wore a dog collar he would answer "bahoooh"

This was at Rich Stadium in Buffalo - I was there with some school buddies - Grateful Dead opened the show - great July 4th weekend, our first Dylan concert - Petty was bang on awesome!

@@dbart258 my 2 TPATH shows were at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Tom and the guys loved Milwaukee. Howie was from Milwaukee. I saw them in 2005 and 2017. No other band quite like them and I doubt there will be in our lifetime.
