I think the DM 'Tim' is doing a great job. Answering all questions, just saying what is necessary. He is not giving anything away. It's a tough line to walk, particularly with this module. Nicely done.

YOU all did a great job on this cuz just getting together to FUN on the most dangerous module I EVER played and died in, when my 10th Dwarf thief was crushed by stone after failing his detection rolls!!! :) Cheers

OMG! This brings back so many memories. Tomb of Horrors is definitely the best module TSR ever came out with. Definitely not for the hack and slay player. Glad to see that there are still people who play first edition.

There doesn’t seem to be any direction to the party. There were times it actually felt like they were working against each other just for kicks. I’m in a biweekly with people I’ve known for 20+ years. As the rogue I’m constantly sent out to scout areas but my party actually seems to care what the risks are for me (final death rules and all lol). I felt like I was watching 6 players doing their own thing, not a well traveled party who are familiar with one another. I’ve watched this campaign quite a few times on different channels (it’s one of my favorite old school ones), this is the most lackadaisical approach I’ve ever seen which was amusing, and did provide something different. 😃

Tim the DM here! Honestly, accurately described. In their defense, this was their first foray into 1e, but yeah. That teamwork and investment in each other is so vital, even in modern game systems. We've got another 1e project in the works, with a different group and adventure, and there's a MUCH stronger focus on each other. It makes all the difference in the world. Glad you enjoyed the show, though!

Great DM, but these players go out of their way to thwart his every attempt at setting a mood, break immersion and are constantly openly mocking him and each other. They're also clearly not paying attention to the DM or each other. Honestly, I don't know how you put up with them, Tim...

A great DM like this and it took them an hour to get inside. Jesse and Beejin aren't bad in my opinion, but the chaos from the top row, sheesh! It's like watching fifth graders.

Some of them might be used to newer, linear roleplaying, where the GM hand holds the players through encounters, and there's more character-based roleplaying (ie: like critical role). It's possible they don't realize they need to initiate exploration and work together as a team to solve puzzles.

Random: Oh man, for some reason I just had the idea that I want to re-purpose Tomb of Horrors, and certain other modules, into a modern day Call of Cthulhu campaign, I could see it working with alot of the old classic dungeon crawls.

Hi, Tim the DM here! We actually had intended for the map to be visible, but there were technical difficulties in our first game session. From session 2 onward, the map is there for viewers to enjoy!

Hey Tim @Route6d6! I watched the whole series - amazing job! I'm going to run this module in two days and it helped me figure out a lot of rooms that are written down. Really appreciate it. Can you please tell me the exact song names? I'd really really appreciate it. The video descriptions for music didn't lead me to the songs i was looking for. There's 2 songs i really enjoy and would love to use the same songs. One is the creepy song that they see when they first enter the dungeon Other is the one when they play around with the phase doors on 17:00 in the last episode

I'm so sorry to say, I no longer know what the music choices were! We switched platforms a while back, and when we did, had to change our music provider, and lost all the music playlists I use. I'm glad you enjoyed our playthrough. I hope your own game goes great, though! Good luck!

She is one of two thieves in the party. Her role was critical to succeed, to bad she can't do her job.

Hi, Tim the DM here! In 1e, non-humans can level in multiple classes simultaneously. So the folks with multiple classes don't add their levels together, they're sort of gestalt. All xp awards get divided by the number of classes, as do hit point gains. They also have level caps in all classes (humans do not). From a game balance perspective, Jesse is around 11th level. Ava would be around 9th level. It's definitely a change from the more modern editions.

I thought a Turn was 1 minute and a Round was 6 seconds. Which is why there are 10 rounds in every Turn.

Hi, Tim the DM here! In 1e, a turn is 10 minutes, a round is 1 minute, and the thing that would become rounds in later editions, that lasts only 6 seconds, is called a Segment. 10 segments to a round, 10 rounds to a turn. A neat idea, but I can see why that eventually got rid of it. Seems a bit unnecessary in later editions.

Good luck to you! Hope you have lots of fun. I'm not a very experienced DM and definitely not super familiar with 1st edition but I hope you won't mind me adding my two cents. I think having a fun time with your friends is the most important. Pre campaign I ALWAYS ask my players "what do you want to do in this game" and "what do you want to accomplish" and try my best to make that happen for them. I guess I would say don't worry too much about trying to make it perfect and polished for YT, you're all a bunch of adventuring souls coming together for a meaningful story. If you and your friends are having fun then that is all that matters! :)

The comment is two years old and there has been no activity from your channel, but if you're reading: Read the AD&D 1e rulebooks, get an understanding for the rules, and just play casually while recording. While the books aren't the easiest for referencing, they're absolutely wonderful for understanding how the game is played and why it's designed as it is - especially the 1e DMG, absolutely priceless - and the insane oversaturation of people running AD&D stuff in 5e(usually converted terribly) will make any game specifically labeled as AD&D instead of 5e pop out to those searching for D&D Actual Play videos that aren't 5e.

1) No halfling druid player character in 1e AD&D. 2) MAGIC-USER. Not mage. Call it OSRIC or whatever but this isn't 1e AD&D.

I always thought that limiting haflings to thief and fighters while the Druid only existed as a NPC was both arbitrary as crap thus our house rule was play one if you want to, it’s your funeral.

Unearthed arcana changed all that and allowed thieves to use short bows and magic users to cast armor spell, they are actually playing close to the book with level limits and all

I would encourage you to check out Water Under the Bridge! It's an ongoing campaign that started as D&D5e, moved to Pathfinder 2e, and is set in a homebrew world while playing through classic old school adventures, like Temple of Elemental Evil and Desert of Desolation. Ava is in that one, and she is phenominal. The tag team of her and Ashe creates comedy, tragedy, and a strong team vibe. Plus, the entire party in that group is just really fun to watch.
