You just need good management, tactics and team cohesion, but England's lack of that imo is the reason why "they can't win". As for England not having won in the past few competitions- you could argue that the squad has changed a lot since then. But also, having world class players by no means guarantees you winning anyway, so a lack of winning wouldn't prove a lack of world class players imo.

True, I saw him get in Kane's way. I think too that Kane was upset at not being allowed to drop deeper to come get the ball. In the interview after the match, he seemed annoyed when explaining that he couldn't drop deeper and almost implied that he won't be listening to that instruction again. More importantly his off the ball work is really amateurish and so he might get you a goal, but then contribute to you conceding a goal which is a part of his game the media praising ignore, yet it is vital to the objective of winning a game. So he scored goals for Chelsea, but was also responsible for Chelsea conceding goals and winning or losing games they should have won or drawn. He is far from the complete player as both offensive and defensive responsibilities and contributions are important from all 11 players. He is no Foden or Bellingham that understand these things and what they must do, just as the other wingers in the squad seem to do, because he has no interest in or understanding of defensive responsibilities or reading of the game. Foden's natural best position would be a free roaming midfield or 10 role but unfortunately for him England's best player (at least the biggest X factor) atm is Jude Bellingham and Bellingham plays that free roaming style, box to box 10 role. It would be criminal to put restrictions on Bellingham in his current form. Maybe Jude can play as an 8 sometimes with Foden as the 10 but i just don't see that happening this tournament. Bringing a player like Bowen who is also a left footed forward, when there is Saka, Foden and Palmer was a mistake. Rashford on the right could have caused problems because of his pace and directness. Heck maybe even Sterling. I think Palmer should get some game time over Foden if he can play well on the left. Foden is a phenomenal player for sure, but does he only look so good because he plays for Man City? Bellingham is shining everywhere he goes. Put Bellingham in that City squad and he probably dominates too..
