@@skellingtron817 actually you are wrong. The effect that prevents them from being affected by opponents effects is actually treated as being a part of the trap effect.
That is called a "Lingering" effect Effects that are granted to cards that can't be negated. When a Paleozoic summons itself from the GY as a Normal Monster, it gives himself the Lingering effect to be Unaffected by opponent's effects.
I've seen the videos. I wanna see what Makyura runs. Seeing R.R.'s deck gave me the idea to make a Rescue Rabbit deck with mostly normal monsters. And it's almost done.
I remember using unexpected dai in harpies and comboing it with elegant egotist to summon lightning chidori without using my normal summon. Those were the good times.
eduardo leão i dont get why it still isn’t used in combination with the vanilla with Infernal reckless summon, so mass summon every harpie lady in grave
yes, I also like the terminator pun with the card. I'd do that with Flash Knight and even go heavier with pendulum/xyz plays. Glad vid mentioned tri-wight as I never thought of normal level 2 tuners.
Finally, this list will help me make Volcanic Rat playable in my Volcanics. Thanks DuelLogs :) 1 Year (365 days) of waiting for New Volcanic Support to arrive 🍾🥂
Knight of the Red Lotus should’ve been on here. It’s a level 6 Warrior with 2100ATK that can be Special Summoned from your hand by have 3 normal monsters in your grave, and banishing two of them. On top of that, it can special summon a lvl4 or lower Normal Monster from your grave. And that effect isn’t a hard Once Per Turn. So even though it requires some setup, it’s still a very viable tool
That was one of my favorite monsters in Duel Links, actually. Helped make my Normal Monster deck a whole lot more fun. That, and Heart of the Underdog.
A very big one you missed, Heart of the Underdog, while not good in general decks, for normal monster-heavy decks, it can potentially let you go +3 or more every turn with some luck AND ensures that you will definitely draw a spell/trap/effect monster each turn instead of getting repeated normal monster draws making you get stuck!
I was playing some guy on dueling book and I ghost ogred one of his cards. Then he told me “ooh you should of saved that” as he summoned a treasure panda. He then proceeded to push through his entire deck with cards like white elephant gift, spell book of knowledge and wonder wand giving him more cards, with treasure panda banishing the spells to give him more monsters. At some point an exodius was dropped which recycled the normal back to the deck and kept going. At this point I had given up hope on winning and was just watching this madness with amazement.
I would put Faustian Bargain in here. Send a special summoned monster from either player's field to the GY to summon a level 4 or lower normal from your hand. With all the destruction-protection that monsters have these days, the 'Send' word makes this card really helpful.
You missed Cosmo Brain. It is one of a few card with potential of go over 3000 atk, that could be special summon with out any activation of any effect. and it could send another effect monster, or itself, to summon 1 Normal monster from hand/deck with out any limitation.
@@Otzkar What do you mean "Don't want"? Then why would you play normal monster and their support card in the deck? If you build the deck for it, isn't it normal for you to want it in you hand/field/grave? You play Cosmo Brain to get 1 normal in the grave, and tribute it for another from the deck, and normal another for the 3rd.
@@Deman_Dema most of the cards on the cards on this list require the normal monsters in your deck. Drawing a normal monsters is like drawing a garnet it's only us is as discard fodder. You never want to draw your normal monsters you always want them in your deck
@@Otzkar Well that depend on what you plan to use those normal for isn't it? And most card on the list are limit on target Level to special summon/search, Cosmo Brain Don't. If you want a high level normal monster on the field, to fulfill condition for another cards, Cosmo Brain is a good option.
If you think about it Painful Decisions effect kind of relates to the art work. Ure adding (saving) 1 normal monster where as the other one goes to the graveyard (eaten by the shark in the art work)
Honorable Mentions: Common Charity, Swing of Memories, Daigusto Emerald, Heart of the Underdog, Justi-Break (Normal Monster's Mirror Force), Birthright and most of all First of Dragons (basically the "Number monster" of Normal Monsters) and my personal favorite Amulet of Ambition (the Normal Monster's Moon Mirror Shield) and Curse of Anubis
Amulet of Ambition is debatably better, especially in something like Wetlands Beatdown. Atlantean Pikeman with Wetlands and Amulet of Ambition averages AT LEAST 3600 attack. 1400 Base, 1200 Wetlands, and an average of 2 levels for 1000 from AoA. Sadly, it doesn't work against Link and XYZ, but it absolutely beats over any main deck monster other than something that copies attack.
Followed you here from WoW! Subscribed, loving these vids. I don’t play Yugioh so what about doing a top 10 decks/archetypes for beginners for those interested in getting into the game?
I guess it is slightly slow these days with having to wait until your next Draw Phase? Still though, I've got many memories of getting Exodia on my second turn due to Heart of the Underdog.
@@r4nd0mguy99 if works on any draw then jar of greed should actavate it that's how it works in every video game I've used it in but to be fair those are video games that run on master rule 2
@@nickshane9314 heart of the underdog is limited to only the draw phase. If you activate draw cards during draw phase with heart of the underdog out it can activate.
Your videos helped me get back into Yu-Gi-Oh, I haven't played for years and it helps watching your videos to get some good ideas for decks. It has been a few months since I started watching your videos but seriously man you deserve way more. You are one of my favorite youtubers and you deserve a sub from me, so I gave you one.
Dragon shrine had enormous combo potential with some other dragon support cards. I remember that when it came out, chaos dragon was still kinda decent as a deck, and with my friends we built a version of it that also ran a normal support core with rescue rabbit, in order to go on rank 4 xyz, fill your grave with dark and light monsters and so on. But also, the normals were great with dragon shrine, because you could send one to the grave and then target as the second foolish burial Eclipse wyvern, and search up the bosses or the extenders such as REDMD and DAD. Won a local with it, incredibly fun to play and to watch the surprised faces
I actually really want there to be some kind of really strong XyZ monster with 4 or 5 level 1 normal monsters as material and let there be a way to reliably swarm the field, maybe with a spell that cuts out, or severely limits, link plays. Another suggestion would be like a level 3 synchro with a level 1 tuner and 2 level 1 normal non-tuners. Just something to make monsters that are usually considered worthless into an actual viable force.
Treasure Panda is used to Exodia decks on Duel Links, you use it to bring the Exodia pieces, tribute it with White Elephant's Gift to draw 2 and use another card that I forget the name to return the pieces to your hand and win.
I did like using Treasure panda and unexpected dai. but then again, it was in a Duel links deck, it works well with the Ability Granpa's cards, having Unexpeted dai special summon an Exodia pieces, then to use cards like Wonder wand to get them in your grave as cost for draw power. Using the exodia pieces in your grave to power up the Exodia incarnate or with Treasure panda to recycle the exodia pieces for another Wonder wand or White elephants gift. So you either win with a super charged incarnate or with Exodia incarnate's effect to grab the exodia pieces back into your hand.
There's this spell card "Faustian Bargain". It can get rid of problem monsters of your opponent as it does not necessarily target or destroy, just send it to the GY then you can summon a level 4 or lower normal monster from the hand...
Unexpected Dai is one of the best cards on the list. It’s seeing a lot of play on duel links right now with the gladiator beasts by easily summoning out your fusion monsters and popping your opponent’s cards EASY! Hope it doesn’t get hit on the next BL.
Unexpected Dai is NOT a good card in DL, even with the GB structure deck (which is also awful btw) Shiranui, DM and Darklords are far superior in almost every way. Unexpected Dai is NOT gonna get hit on the next ban list 🤣. They will tackle the problem meta decks which GB is not... in typical KONAMI fashion the likely won't hit the problem cards i.e. DMC or Navigation but will instead hit Rod to prevent easy searches, doesn't kill the deck but definitely lowers consistency if you aren't using the Trick Up the Sleeve skill.
@@SirNilooo Things that are good in duel links tend to be really really weak in the base game. They're almost two completely different systems so just because a card is good *in duel links* doesn't mean it's actually a good card
Painful decision is really good in a dinosaur deck Cuz you can use on on a Uraby a Sabersaurus or a Megalosmasher x then you can use Survival of the Fittest to send the monster to the graveyard then special summon another monster then destroy that new monster and now that you have two more monsters in the graveyard you can banish it with a Survival Instinct and after that you just summon a Tyranno Infinity
Treasure Panda was a pretty good card in Duel Links, in an Exodia deck. The strategy was: 1) Normal summon Panda 2) Banish 1 card to SS one Exodia piece from the deck 3) Use "Wonder wand" to send to the GY the Exodia piece and draw 2 cards 4) Repeat until you get three of them in the GY and the last two pieces of Exodia in your hand (since you're drawing a lot for this effect, you probably will have the remaining pieces in hand) 5) Activate Backup soldier or Dark factory of mass production and get back your Exodia body parts from the GY
Finally someone acknowledges Phantasm Spirals :D This deck is awesome for casual play, and actually even tops some tournaments here and there. A lot of decks do not have a natural answer to the Sea Stealth Attack protection. Also, feel like Heat Wave should have made this list, at least the lower spots xD
Ok late but cool fact about Painful Decision. The monster you mill must be a normal monster. But It never says that the monster added must be one as well. So, if you have an effect monster, who‘s name is treated as that of a specific normal lvl 4, you can add the effect mon. Which is only relevant in Suships specifically
I remember back in the day when soul charge and mathematician were unlimited, I built a deck around math and carbon to summon labradorite dragon into xx saber gottems. The deck could consistently get rid of 3 cards in the opponents hand on the first turn.
Supernatural Danger Zone First of the Dragons - for honorable mention. Knight of the Red Lotus Enchanting Fitting Room Box of Friends THE ENTIRE PALEOZOIC LINE!? HELLO!? Treasure Panda is literally only works for Law of the Normal and Exodia decks. Meanwhile, Supernatural Danger Zone allows you to special summon a normal monster from your hand deck or grave if it gets destroyed, and if it doesn't you keep popping any card on the field when cycling through your combo that involves a normal monster. Absolute best support card for any deck that uses Normals as part of their core strategy.
Gokipole’s better honestly. It just has a really good effect that’s easy to activate, that just so happen to get a bonus of you use a normal monster. Both have the issue that there aren’t really good cards to play the with. Insects don’t have many power plays despite some good support.
Heart of the Underdog in an Exodia Deck full of Normal Monsters only has a 91% chance of success. I think that's pretty nice. You can throw in some Pendulums so if you draw a brick you can Pendulum summon and beatdown and/or Xyz summon.
Huh, it's funny that Treasure Panda hasn't been used in FTK decks to hell and back yet. I guess without Cannon Soldier and the like the most obvious FTKs just aren't available. Though with cards like Double Summon and Foolish Burial Goods I can certainly see some potential.
@@shawnli4746 Huh, I'm surprised he hasn't been hit yet! Poor guy has been forgotten about by Konami. I guess being limited to non-Token Normal Monsters was seen as enough to not be banned when cards like Amazoness Archer have been banned. But with Treasure Panda plus Man-Thro' Tro', I can see him hitting the ban list soon - what with Konami hating basically any FTK.
Funny enough, Treasure Panda is an FTK in Duel Links. Exodia skill adds the 5 cards after the duel starts, causing you to have 25~35 cards instead. Panda allows you to easily search out and utilize the limbs as fuel for Wonder Wand and White Elephant's Gift. Banishing that same spell then searches out another limb for a +2 in hand economy. You finish your turn with using one or two Dark Factory of Mass Production, and combo with The Legendary Exodia Incarnate which adds one Exodia piece from grave to hand each end phase. Even if you cannot FTK, you would have an Exodia Incarnate with a good number of ATK based on what you have in the grave, and you can also ram it into something stronger to draw equal to the number of Exodia in your hand already.
coming back to this video 2 years later made me realize how good painful decision is thanks to suship, that if this video was remade. i bet that card would bump up a few places, just because of shari

I use dragon shrine for blue eyes deck. Easy way to send a blue eyes to the graveyard and the ancient stone of legend so you can special summon blue eyes abyss dragon at end of turn and use I effect since it also put a blue eyes in the graveyard and you can add a ritual spell card and a ritual blue eyes monster to hand plus have a 2500 at amd Def monster that can then add another dragon to hand if it survives the opponents turn on your n2xt 2nd phase etc.
I just did some research on Magical Scientist and found out how OP it is in the current meta so can you do a list on the top 10 best level 1 monsters some time in the future?
I used to have an old school fun deck with a legendary ocean, lv 5 normal water monsters and or lv 4 beat down normal water monsters, skill drain and anti magic zone. Sometimes I used heart of the underdog for mad draw power and toon table of contents for milling and toon alligator to finish off the combo. Worked pretty well actually when it didn’t brick.
I used painful decision in legacy of the duelist using this red eyes combo. Painful decision + Return of the Red Eyes trap card + lvl 4 red eyes retro + lvl 4 mad dog of darkness= + 1 card also + beast eyes setup. 1900 burn damage from beast eyes effect is pretty good
Are you going to ever finish the top 10 monsters of each level series? You did 12, 11, 10, 9, and 1. I love those videos. You should do the remaining ones. I'd love to see those.
Rabbit banishes itself as cost is a good thing because you can dodge Called by the Grave. Maybe it can still got Ash or Psy-framegear Gamma, but at least we can avoid another one powerful negater.
1- Top 10 monsters/spells/traps to go first 2- Top 10 monsters/spells/traps to go second 3- Top 10 Easiest Legal ways to win a duel in 2020 (this will be the best video on your channel if you made it by the way)
As a guy who used to play normal monsters there's a lot of cards that are not on the list:enchanting fitting room, symbols of duty, faustian bargain, amulet of ambition to mention a few.
I have to admit, I'm surprised I didn't see "Heart of the Underdog" on here: If you draw a normal monster while it's on the field, you can show that card, then draw again. I run a pendulum/tuner deck that HOTU (3 of) is the only non-normal monster card, and as soon as I get one on the field, either they destroy it, or it's game over with everything I draw into and pendulum set into xyz/tuner monsters to overrun the field. Speaking of which, most monsters in my main deck are Lv4s, so I would love to see a "top 10 Lv8 Monsters" list, to see what should be in my extra deck...
Alright so im. Drunk af and listening to youtube to fall asleep but u also make wow and hearthstone video's right? I'm not just crazy but it voice brings up soothing memories from other games and I'm not sure if I'm crazy 9
"Keeper of the shrine" might be a good supporter for normal dragon deck. Surprisingly he's only normal rarity in masterduel so anyone can afford it right away. This card can be treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a Dragon-Type monster. While this card is in your hand or Graveyard, if a face-up Dragon-Type monster on the field, except "Keeper of the Shrine", is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect or because it was destroyed by battle: You can Special Summon this card, then, if that monster sent to the Graveyard is a Normal Monster, you can add 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your Graveyard to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Keeper of the Shrine" once per turn.
#1 came as completely unexpected to me. :O I have a couple of propositions. - Top 10 Monsters that deal Piercing Damage; - Top 10 Tuner Monsters (that aren't mainly used as handtraps)
Treasure Panda is better in Duel Links due to the game having Skill that allow for you to start of with Spell and Trap cards. And if you combo that with thing like Ruins of the Divine Dragon Lords you can get to level 5 and 6 Synchros easily (even if want to make a level 7-8 with ROTDDL’s because of it’s main effect)
