There's now a part 2 of this video where we go through another top 10 mistakes beginners make in Red Dead Online - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--8ZSdg_XQH8.html I hope you enjoy!
ime a 58 year old gaming newbi been playing story ime giving online a go i cant fined link to the map or am i being thick and not looking in wrong place ?
This guy stopped me from going from blackwater to valentine to deliver my goods. He didn't burn my wagon he just killed me and my friend multiple times he was 50 levels above us. We just ended up switching lobbies.
I might have missed it, but if a player lassos you, access your pinwheel and equip your knife. Even if your on the ground your character will use it to cut you free.
Yeah, only works for the basic lasso, but if some low-level griefer lassos you, it is a great way to get free. Reinforced, I just wait till they tie me up and give up, and then come back guns blazing.
There’s an easier technique. Open the player menu, online options, defensive mode. Now if someone tries to grief you they have to have skill in free aim which none do. So just wait for them to attack first and turn red then let them have it.
@@WTFisDrifting yeah same, started playing online yesterday and played for 6-7 hours maybe and me and my friend only had 2 griefers annoying us. Waayy better than Gta5 freeroam lobbys
@@WTFisDrifting these guys followed me up into the mountains when I was hunting just because they wanted to steal the turkey and bald eagle and alligator skin I had, and they killed me 4 times and almost killed my horse, I was so angry only because they were so close to killing my horse, if they would have only robbed me and left my horse I would have been fine with it
When my friend and i played rdr online we basically said screw missions we'll make money by hunting Long story short my friend is now scared of alligators i have dirty unusable weapons i can't clean cause i don't have money to buy gun oil, my character is dying and i can't refill my health and dead eye ours horses are dead and we're in the middle of nowhere carring my dead body and a dog we accidentally shot while hunting and have a shared total of $5 Oh and i look like Heath Ledger's joker without makeup cause i was drunk and didn't think my character through
@@glorytojesuschrist7105 it wasnt when i was a starting player i just did gang hideouts to find treasure maps and got it that way and thats pretty much how i learn to get good at sniping was practicing but the one thing i dint know was that its all about the sensitivity. you get that right and you can be a great sniper after 14 minutes of warm up but like i said you just need to do gang hideouts and you can loot enemies for treasure maps.
Another mistake they’re making at the moment is attacking experienced players which ends in them getting destroyed.. seriously it’s getting old now all the newbies
So it just wasn't me getting attacked by newbs. Then they get destroyed as I shake my head as I stroll away seeing if they are dumb enough to do it again.
I think that the bounty hunter role goes really well with the collector role in my opinion because most bounty targets I loot usually has a collectible item
I prefer the bolt action over the Lancaster in combat. My mates think I'm mad but I feel I drop more enemies more quickly. Once you learn the timing of the aim lock and get better at twitching up the stick for a head shot, they're deadly.
True, still headshot is headshot and 14 headshots usually kill more people then 5. But i guess its personal preference after all, i used the bolt action for a looong time, now i only use it for hunting. Lancaster is better for mid range, carcano better on long ranges
@@timmyg316 yeah it's powerful but slow and short range. If you use certain cards you can one shot with most shotguns and rifles but the elephant gun takes the guess work away
Let's make this easier. 1st buy collector ASAP Use the jeanropke map. Collect cards until you can buy a metal decctor and shovel Make thousands at beginning of game lvl1 THEN doi everything else
Just google "rdr2 collector map". Use it on your phone, select what set you're going after and use the map to take you to almost a pinpoint location of it. If you're new you can only collect cards, eggs and wildflowers. Get them till you unlock and can afford a shovel and metal detector. Then go for coins, bracelets earrings, heirlooms. Also make sure you have what ever ability cards you want to level up active as each item you get gives you 300xp towards ability level and full sets give 1500xp
Get the metal detector too, keep doing bird eggs, cards, flowers (full sets) till you can get the metal detector. The shovel and metal detector work hand in hand
The biggest mistake I’ve seen over the past week with a few low level players is they seem to think this is gta online......greifing seems to be on the rise in the sessions I’m playing and they all seem to be really low ranks.......they soon learn after a few exploding rounds sent their way........bless them Jowers.....another great video on helping new players..........well done bud
LOL, it is fun to teach them some manners. Some nimrod level 4 tried to steal my Gator Skin. AFTER it was in my Hunt Wagon. He couldn't get in the wagon, so he tried to blow it up. LOL Such a funny little boy. ROFL
@@PatWatson1957 Legit the same thing happened to me buddy saw me hunting with my wagon decided to shoot me and blow up my wagon gave him some explosive rounds and he left the session Lol
I just did the story mode for the 3rd time. Xbox the first 2 and now on my ps4. Did it with high honor so Arthur doesn't get shot in the face by Micah...
@@alfiebarker2329 I know it's just a game but it was pretty traumatic. I had a 10% discount w/ his honor this time in the 4th Chapter so i stayed in St Denis behind the butcher/general store and just greeted all the NP's over and over until I got max honor. Took an hour or two but it worked!
Collector maps are worth buying if you want to complete a daily challenge (use 3 collector maps). It'll cost you about $45 to buy the 3 cheapest, but if it helps you get that 9/9 role challenges, then it's worth upto 2 gold bars to you, and isn't a rip off at all.
The number 1 mistake is avoiding online until you played through story. I STRONGLY recommend that as a new player you first make a character for online with a look you really like. Then doing 1 online challenge everyday and before you play story. When you finally commit to online you will be a month a head and probably ready to buy your first role. The other role will follow twice as quickly from your preparation
The Online seems fun in theory, but it just sounds so grindy. The best part about the Story Mode was being able to live in the world and get pulled in directions by events and manageable tasks. The challenges were fun, but just extra. This seems to be built off of challenges and not dynamic events or gameplay modes. The economy is built on the back of the extras, rather than the meat of what makes the game great. It's disappointing. And in app purchases. That's gross.
Agreed. But after completing the story mode, I still wanted to “experience” Red Dead and Online mode is basically the only option other than starting story mode over. I dig the Online stories so far but after I finish them, I’ll prob quit. Because yeah grinding and being an asshole picking off other players for fun isn’t my kind of fun 🤷🏻♂️
EX-GTA5 players who think that they are going to take over the game as a newb, for all the newbs reading this, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, I or some other high level play will crush you to the point that you will either leave the game, or worse. Pay attention to who is in the lobby and the ranks. RANKS MEAN SOMETHING in the game. I did not spend almost two years building my rank up so some little snot nosed newbie thinks he can grief me. It will end badly. (and not for me). Small tip, make friends here with some high level players. Play fair and level up. It is the only way you will survive in the awesome game.
Right? Most of the griefers and aggressive players I come across are new players with a bloodlust. Like, don't hate on veterans for mopping the floor with you when a lot of us are just minding our own business.
I find this quite humorous mainly from the fact that i decided to play the online version after a year of story mode ang GTAO, chilling in valentine buying gun oil with my hefty $7 when some snot nosed level 100+ decides to make his attempt at farming me and in this case it was a bloodbath for him, until he finally asked me to stop. Only played the online fir a week and a half and im lvl 54
@@DMC_Motorsports Hey, thanks for the replay. May I assume that you have some skill behind your playing? I guess I was trying to say that GTA and RD are two different games, but yet there are grievers from GTA still trying to take over the game. MayI ask how, in one and a half weeks, you managed to get level 54? My only assumption is collecting, which gets so boring so fast. Another question. What do you mean by farming? There is really nothing to farm by killing another player. There is very little XP, and absolutely nothing to gain, besides gratification in grieving. Not sure what platform you play on, but if its xbox, look me up. Grumpyoldman051.
rolling block is better, and a bit more expensive, however it's more reliable at killing in one shot the medium animals like the deer. the bolt action rifle is good, but if you aren't close enough, the animal can go from 3 star to 1 very fast when it gets back up and it happens more often than not. a good upgrade though, so i'd definitely get that, but rolling block is definitely the better upgrade.
I’m lvl 10 almost lvl 11 I started 2 days ago but had the game for 2 years because I didn’t have gold online is sm better I should’ve got it along time ago
Thanks for the videos . I seriously just bought my first pc and the first game I got was RDR2 . Have not picked up a controller since the ps2. So this is all new . Thanks again.
@6:51 There is a difference between wasting your resources on buying every weapon in the game early on and calling any loadout except the basic one, "luxury." Swapping weapons is not a luxury if you run low on ammo and a shotgun is better suited for close combat. So much for black-and-white thinking. :)
I am a new player and I made the mistake of buying the bow, which I don't really need, but found another way of getting extra money, looting saddle bags of npc horses, when they don't kick you you can get around 1.50 and some other stuff like horse feed or reviver.
Great tips, I was lucky to play with crew when I started online that helped me to do & understand why most of these are important especially when starting out but some you should continue to do for as long as you play RDO 🐴🤠👌
The best starting guns to get early are the bolt action rifle and the pump action shotgun as well as a varmit rifle. For horses I reccomend saving up or taking advantage of sales and buy an upgraded Mustang as it's the best rounded horse in the game. Perfect for racing, hunting, traveling all around great horse. NEVER RANDOMLY SHOOT OTHER PLAYERS! You never know who you've just pissed off. I've run newbies off of servers because they shot at the lvl 300 who just waved as she passed by, unleashing a wrath unlike anything they've ever seen.
Ever since it went to game pass has anyone else noticed that there's alot more animals spawning? I've been able to fill up the trader business everyday easily for the last week or so.
They are trying to convince the "COVID Babys" that the game actually works. Lookin for them to buy the game and invest in GOLD! LOL When it comes off GamePass, it will go back to no beasts. BUT, in the meantime, we get to deal with no freaking camps or no 'Shine Shack spawns, OR, my fav, Cripps, Maggie and Marcel goin at it out in the swamp and not being in the 'Shine Shack ... I'll let your imagination mull on that for a while LOL
If you have gta online and complete the murderer mission you can get a free navy revolver called the lowrys revolver that’s fully upgraded and has a unique skin
I find helpful in provisions is cooking the meat u hunted they can restore all 3 cores and I use those for core maintenance and buy other provisions the replenish my bars instead so I save money and don't have to waste time scrolling through items for a specific one
Shot guns are very helpful in rdr 2 against grefers and work you're way up to saving money for a stronger faster horse.then get ur bounty hunters license you can make good money so start small and work your way up.
Why does everyone say that you shouldn’t buy maps because you can find them online? Is it that hard to understand that some people want to find them themselves and actually play the game
For myself when I started, I just bought bounty hunter pass so I could make some easy cash, from there I leveled up. Then at that point I bought guns, ammo, a good horse, then I did legendary bounties with my friend.
Also one tip is that if you want horse revivers and tonics you can just go in a town and loot horse saddle bags which gives you cash tonics and horse food
You said that I need to stick with the weapons that I have at the beginning like the Lancaster etc. but I only started out with a carbine repeater and a cattlemens revolver.
As a veteran player, I always buy the collector maps. Just checking the locations on the website ruins the challenge, and it is also kinda cheating :D And I also never wait with the bounty missions, just for getting more reward, takes too much time, makes the gameplay boring. (And since time = money in the game doesn't really worth it financially either). Sure, the things you've mentioned about these two in the video can get you a lot more money, but I still don't recommend doing them the way the video said it, because overall it makes the game even more boring and worse than that buggy mess it already is.
@@brittanystarrgamley6460 Yeah am now level 204. On Gta you get killed by time you go to get them back they have flown off or have rockets etc or that bike the Oppressor. On red dead they seem to hang round or they quickly leave the server. I've started reporting them too.
@@tlpn9977 someone reported me too and had a coms ban really quickly didn't last long because I sent Xbox a thing saying really I was defending myself and he's saying the N word in game chat and I get the ban well jokes on him my ban was lifted within an hour
@@brittanystarrgamley6460 I get into "text wars" with low levels that start crap, and I 'skirt around' the foul language. I tell them they started the BS, if they want it to stop, LEAVE the server. It goes back and forth, and I tell them to "Eff Off $tpd duck". They usually think on that one for a bit, then flat out tell me to "fuck off". LOL I tell them "Thank you, REPORTED" LOL and I file a report, THEY get Com Banned :D
I learned in red dead online to never use a gun while hunting unless you don't got time for perfect pelts. You gotta lasso animals and then stab em when your close enough. Enjoy the pelt.
Guns I have: Schofield (Gonna get LeMMat, when I can) I have the pump, Lancaster and Varmint rifle, I'm really thinking about buying the bolt, love it alot
A tip that I have is if you do a lot of bounty missions i strongly suggest buying the reinforced lasso. It’s comes with a hefty price tag but when you complete bounty’s there’s no chance of them jumping off you’re horse and running off or worse escaping. Oh and When you hogtie online players it’s literally impossible to escape 😂
This video is reminding me of why I've been avoiding online multiplayer games for all 18 years of my life. Imma attempt playing RDO anyway. Gotta start somewhere I guess.
Honestly I feel the horse DOES help you get more money. I had such a bad horse I couldn’t catch bounties so getting my Missouri Fox Trotter helped me, since now I can catch the bounties alive and I’ve got a great horse
@@oneshotonekil6302 Lmao same. I ve got maxed out ability cards , lvl 20 all roles , Black white & red arabians , Criollo , MFT , throughbread , all the guns , still got $30k left. If only RDO had half the content of what Gta online have , to spend that money on.
@@Flibottesam Just Collectible that doesn't require a metal detector like All 4 sets of Tarot Cards , American flowers , Anitque alcohol bottles & bird eggs. Selling all of them once will get you to lvl 5 in a day.
Thx as a beginner it was for me like that but I bought Carcano against players about cars I have all of them and was exping them using collector then buying tier 3 when was a sale. I bought all of the weapons because some are really beautiful even if ill give them couple shots per year. I craft food for my horse also you didn't mention to craft big games. An about collectors maps you need to buy them and have a bunch of them because they are part of the daily challenge for collectors.
Biggest mistake a lot of new players are making right now is attacking everyone they come across. This dude came up on me when I was looking for collectibles in the van horn light house. He followed me up and attacked me on the stairs. I kicked him to death (which was hilarious) and just waited for him to come back, which, of course, he did. Then when his head pop up at the top of the stairs I blow it off with shot gun. He pressed charges 😒could’ve just walked away dude.
People may forget this: When you level up , you may get new offers and rewards. To claim these , open up the menu in rdo and go to benefits. Then click on offers and rewards. There you can get and claim maps , money , clothing etc. :)
Something else they do is messin with og high level players with explosive bullets, i saw a low rank dude the other day. I emoted and hat tipped showed that person i was friendly he waved back so i tought he was, when i turned my back he shot me in the head and killed me. My friend just came on so we killed this other guy like 30 times. I really hope he learned not to be toxic that day.
Was it just me that thought that PvP footage near the end was a bit sketchy? Not just the massive lag bit at 11:24, but the bit where it appears you had someone on the other team that was not even trying to kill you.
You're dead ass wrong about the horse. The first upgrade you should purchase is a Turkoman or a Fox Trotter. Getting from point A to point B faster absolutely increases your productivity.
I dunno how people find time to even remember to log in every day! I always miss a day randomly cause im busy lol. Ol Rockstar trying to steal my life away
… here is another!!!! What’s up with like killing all the npc’s in st denis , Valentine etc etc. If there is anywhere you want to start a gun battle…. Chose thieves landing.
Upgrading your weapons in the early-game isn't necessarily a bad idea, especially if you follow the advice of investing into the Bounty Hunter first. That role (as well as many others) puts you through a lot of combat and, compared to the unlocks in the BH skill line, a good combat gun is a better investment than almost everything unlocked through the role (except for the reinforced lasso). Parting with a couple hundred dollars for a Lancaster Repeater at level 12 may seem silly, but it makes the combat go easier whilst you grind gold for more cash-heavy roles like the Collector or Moonshiner. That said, if you're going into Trader or Moonshiner as an early role, it is a good idea to save some cash up as the role unlocks are must-buys, but also pretty expensive in the early game. Above all, save your gold and use it to buy roles and outlaw passes before cosmetics and other items.
I bought the Elephant gun to take down elk. I ended up getting jumped by the Skinner gang by that woman who wanted help with her ankle. She pulled a gun on me and I blew her head completely off! :P
Tbh, the most grifters I see are mostly low level and are just bored, the best thing to do with a grifer is to either ignore them or hogtie them and then get away so they can’t fellow you. But if they both fail the last resort is to kill them over an over until they leave or parlay you.
All good points, however there's a difference in mindset between one who has access to their parents credit card(s) and those that are not. There's a difference in the generation of player's also. Being the past the age of retirement; Even though I have a significant amount of spendable income and microtransactions such as buying sufficent amount of gold to give me a dynamic head start wouldn't be an issue, I don't utilize any microtransacations. I play the game as if I were actually there during the era. When your old winning isn't what playing video games is about, it's about having something to occupy ones excessive amount of leisure time. That's what makes these sandbox games to interesting to us retired folks. Yes RDR2 has a lot of modder's and griefer's, but just like in real life, one learns to deal with them or doesn't. I refuse to be a victim and just like "Lil' Bo Peep stated, "Leave them alone, eventually they go home!". Basically it gives me a chance to take a break.
Buy bounty hunter first - do legendary bounty Etta Doyle and wait till she say it a trap, take her to near to prison and wait 10 min and that will be 350-370$ and 0.36 gold bar in around 15min
