Build making is a detailed process, and here are three crucial mistakes to avoid if you want to make a viable build in the current meta. I tried to include mistakes that would apply to a wide variety of players while also including information that more experienced players might not know about as well, so let me know if you learned anything from this video!

solid takes, only thing id say is i agree that going 100 for every weapon that doesnt require it is quite a waste, but if you're gonna use weapon mantras you should atleast hit 80 whenever possible, instead of the bare minimum to equip, lvl 4 to lvl 5 have significant differences, as well as certain mantras getting entire new mechanics at 5

My personal tip: don't underestimate how much you can do in pre shrine and always experiment with the build. Changing a few points around saved me from bad builds.

The the damage modifiers scale off of how much dmg your weapon does so investing high into wep isnt bad because the modifiers amplify base dmg, also you can get most amplifiers while going high wep

parrying dagger on my obfuscation iron birch (heavy hitter burned) is crazy good, i only take 2% posture when someone parries my swing, which lets me mantra spam. If i get high posture from being too aggresive, i can movestack crit + spit to clear my posture.

For silent heart the higher weapon points make a larger difference, for other builds id say get your points for your desired weapon

personally on medium weapons I NEVER use 1 handed since the animation is incredibly ugly to me, and looks like I'm telegraphing my swings to my opponent more (as in its more readable)

the reason i(and probably most people) dont put sidearms on my builds is because they all look ugly as hell ethirons curseshield is the only one im somewhat willing to use(id prefer not to though) i still wish you could toggle visibility on cestuses because the only good looking one is the drakemaw(the coral cestus also looks decent)

While I wholeheartedly agree side guns have no disadvantage on Light weapons, parrying daggers actually add endlag to your weapon! Take this into account when choosing which to use.

3:26 railblade is forced 1 handed so u might as well use a parry dagger/kyrstear for more posture on parry (great for heavy)

If you are using railblade you are forced to 1 hand it so I always use a gun.

I was wondering for your first mistake take, how much would you say is the limit for stats in weapon/attunement? I've been making builds and always two to aim for 100-150 points in the weapon/attunement category. I always had trouble thinking which of my builds would be m1 based/mantra based/or a sort of hybrid. There's also the issue with if some level of mantras are worth it or m1 dmg is worth it.

Could you share that calculator you use to compare weapon scales? Because for example there are weapons like pistols that have a lot of scale in weapons (14-15) so perhaps it would be worth overinvesting in weapons there

Nah not really. Unless you’re using something like a curved or hero blade it’s worth it. Check out your dps getting a decent rare talent compared to 5-20 pints. If you can fill in your weapon stat do it. Test it with the dps calculator on the builder compared to low investment + talents. the 3-4 damage increase easily scales your damage with multipliers.

I have a question for mistake 1. Basically if you are aiming for weapon mantras get 80 of your weapon category. If you are not than aim for 30 stat points in your weapon category?

it kinda depends a lot on your build. Like if you’re using only one weapon mantra I wouldn’t say it’s required to go 80 wep, and it’s fine to not have lvl five mantras. I’d you’re using multiple tho then yeah should prob go 80.

The litteral only reason i ever level my weapon stat higher than it needs to be is to get mantras like, punishment, master flourish, twincleave, etc to lvl 5 because most of these mantras are either great combo extenders, mixups, or roll catches, like for example masters flourish is a great combo extender or something to just throw out and with a bloodless gem 3 glass stones and level 5 it does good dmg returns good hp and is a very solid mantra all around

wdy think of 100 lht 1h revolver w/ 6 prof? Seeing how revolver has the highest weapon scaling, I’d assume that it’d be the only weapon that is worth going for 100 investment, especially when you consider dmg modifiers and rings.

In my opinion, dont get ghost in pve builds, is not that vital waste that 40 points in agility even with shine. Use Safety Dance with observation or portals bell, nothing will happend to you without ghost

Yeah, especially with the mage meta. Most of your damage is coming from mantras unless you’re silentheart. Its best to go a fast swinging weapon with low req (scimitar/champ sword/warden) to confirm your mantras and top off your ether.
