I'm a Filipino-American citizen living in the states for 30 years.But I was born and raised in Mindanao, and practiced my medical profession in Phil's for years before moving to USA. I should say Bukidnon is far much more beautiful than Baguio and Tagaytay. Bukidnon is colder, greener, far less crowded, rich in agriculture, quite good in infrastructure, and most of all crime rate is far less or rare compared to either Baguio or Tagaytay. Nonetheless Mindanao has been the safest region of Phil's several years ago already. I hope people will stop their wrong narratives or stereotypes about how dangerous Mindanao is just to be relevant.

We moved here 4 years ago and decided to find a place near to Tagaytay. We are near to Alfonso, west of Tagaytay. Temps here are mostly in the 70's and 80's, with cool winds and rains. I sometimes have to put on a light jacket and socks. We love it up here, our dogs do too. We are out in the country and are surrounded by jungles.

Hey Barry....we are thinking of moving to Tagaytay in a year or so, my wife is from Leyte and it is just too hot for me. So the weather is fairly cool there for you? Do you mind sharing what a 3 bed 2 bath house goes for in your area(Alfonso), or point me to any good sites to search for rentals? The country and jungles seem perfect. We have 2 children 4 and 9 and are from Vancouver Washington in the USA. Hope you are doing well. Dennis and Marjorie

I decided to live in a cooler place in the Philippines because I like the outdoors and the heat can be so oppressive so much of the year. I bought a house recently in Tagaytay and plan to use it as my home base. Tons of great restaurants, shopping and things to do. In the top ten safest cities in the Philippines. Just 1.5 hrs. from Manila means you can get just about anything you want. It's proximity to Manila makes it easy to fly anywhere in or out of the Philippines.

I have been to Baguio twice in august and it was around 60F and pretty much constant rain and we were basically in the clouds. It was a nice relief from the heat. We are going again at the end of this month so we expect more of the same. Very congested place but has a good bustling feel about it and very safe. Thinking about spending more time there in a few years during our retirement, as my wife was at Uni there and has family there.

@richardhowe5583 11 месяцев назад
You nailed it on everyone 😮..Batanes I think you mispronounced it but I am not sure.. also Baguio gets three times more rain than Cebu City..136 inches a year in Baguio.. the record for Baguio was January 18th 1961 at 6.3 degrees Celsius 43.3 Fahrenheit.. I call it my secret place that I found but I guess I will let the cat out of the bag because most people do not want to live in the mountains.. Sibulan and I am not talkin about sibulan on the coast by dumaguete. I am talking about the sibulan in the mountains by the twin lakes not far from dumaguete and Valencia.. the temperature is always two or three degrees cooler than the Valencia next to dumaguete.. it is only about 35 minutes from sibulan to the coast and about 40 minutes from dumaguete.. if you take a shortcut it's not that far to dauin so you are in the mountains but not far from the beaches on the ocean.. that is where I will find a mountain house for a long-term rental or purchase it.. of course I will have a great solar backup with a solar generator and a gas generator also.. I will also be looking for a place on the beach to split my time for my Filipino fiance and myself.. I really like the coastline that is south of dauin because I think it is a lot more beautiful and a lot more cheaper also.. I'm also thinking about buying a box truck making a camper out of it with a 5,000 BTU air conditioner to use and spend time on the beach and maybe not have to buy a place on the ocean also.. apparently the weather temperature gauge is in the mountains by the twin lakes because when you Google the temperature in sibulan it is always a few degrees cooler than Valencia.. I've seen RU-vidrs go up that area and it is really beautiful and peaceful.. I have sent my fiance to driving school because I will certainly have a car and after I arrived I'm sending her to a shooting range for some firearms training and certification. If I'm living way up in the mountains I will surely be armed in case of a life-threatening emergency.. of course us Americans cannot own guns but our Filipino wives can.. you are a smart guy and you nailed all five of the coldest places..Sagada is a very cold town but it is very close to Baguio so I guess it would be in the same realm.. I also want to visit in the mountains north of Baguio where the headhunters live. The tribes are still there but of course they do not hunt heads anymore.. I don't think they do hehe but I have read to go with a guide😮😮😊😊..ps. there are two sibulan towns with two different temperatures.. one town is in the mountains by the twin lakes and the other town is on the coast next to dumaguete.. when you check the weather lots of times you will get the temperature from the town next to dumaguete which is about the same temperature as dumaguete.. check the temperature at the weather station close to the twin lakes in the mountains and it is always a few degrees cooler than Valencia.. Valencia is in the mountains not far from the sibulan in the mountains.. the twin lakes and sibulan in that area is a little higher in the mountains than Valencia and it is also more in the rural area of the province.. my kind of living!! when I get lonesome for Americans I will go down to dumaguete and rent a hotel for a week or two I shoot the bull until I have heard everybody's lies and told mine. Hehe😮😮😊

Cooler weather is exactly what I want !!! --- Not 'cold' - like Baguio. --- Malaybalay is nearly ideal temps. - but too isolated from top quality medical. --- Batanes is also isolated and remote. --- This really leaves Tagaytay as - "the place" - in my mind. Having essentially everything needed for a good place to live - including the proximity to Manila & the airport ! Certainly a beautiful city clean air fresh farm produce and international food choices. My ideal "comfortable" retirement destination !!!

My preference is "comfortable' ! -- I'm 73 & I don't do heat or cold well. = Tagaytay '''sounds''' about perfect for my body 'most' of the time ? > I hear it's quite affordable even if your a bit on the frugal side in some areas - perhaps w/o the panoramic views ? -- From the few video's I've seen everything you need is pretty much there. Supposedly it does get quite crowded on the weekends with people from Manilla mostly. My suspicion is many Filipino's think it is too cold being used to much warmer.

My first trip to Baguio was 1973. My first wife lived there. It was a vey nice quiet mountain town. It had the wonderful Camp John Hay, a US Military R&R spot. I have since been there 3 more times, last in 2017. I was shocked at the growth. The once quiet mountain town was now a bustling overcrowded, overgrown city. I hardly recognized it. I did not like it. But it certainly has cooler temps which is a nice break from the beach. Haven't been there yet but Batanes is on my list. Watch out, it frequently gets hits by typhoons.

Bagio is vulnerable to Volcanic eruptions. Mindanao is vulnerable to Terrorism. I'm thinking Valencia for me except poor infrastructure so.... Probably end up in or near Ormoc. I would not recommend going to Baguio for any reason whatsoever. Crazy traffic, nightmare bus rides, getting in and out of the city, way too noisy, crowded polluted, I was not happy there.

Last year September I was going to my Pina place on Dinagat and she put my in a long sleeve shirt saying you'll get cold, and I was sweating 😂, and I looked at her and said "you'll get cold she says" 😂. But we laughed it off 😂

Top five coldest places in Philippines? LOL there are none. The weather is like Filipinas varying degrees of HOT. Gio, without sounding like a crackpot Batanes may not be a good location live just now. It marks the south end of the strategic Luzon Strait. If China escalates the Taiwan attack the first move will be to block that Strait and very likely occupy the southern islands as bases.

Bukidnon. Nothing there, you'll starve. Unless you like greasy scrambled eggs from a restaurant, and can live on mangoes and Filipino food. Not sure why dudes go to the Philippines who don't like tropical weather

Brah, we don't all know °F to °C. Conversions. Your still American, most of us are American to. As a rule, though I respect your efforts and enjoy these videos, I don't have much time for useless info. Important info given in a different measurement, like "Cubits. Sure I could look it up, but how hard is it to take a second and give °C &°F? Then I and most others would have enjoyed this video more. Don't be a tempature snobb, Gio.😂 Again Gio, I do enjoy most of your content, but this distracts from your content. Now I'm just questioning convertions instead of listening, but that was the whole point of the video. Don't take this wrong, but most of us are still working hard and don't have island time. Anymore , I quit watching longer videos due to time constraints. Who knows, maybe I'm the temperature snob. I hope this rude text finds you well and helps the quality of your content. Just remember who you were before this beautiful archipelago consumed the old you. It's always the little things. Maziltove to you and Maya and Semper Fi. I haven't been back since '92, but may arrive back this time retired next year. I look forward to shaking your hand, thanks Gio.

Not only Americans watch American videos, we Asians also watch them, I am from the Philippines. And if you have watched closely, Gio made a conversion on screen 😂. Most of the world uses Metric, only America uses Imperial system.
