They are all great. I have the Antaeus after shave. Potent stuff. Allure homme EB is excellent. I wore Pour Monsieur back in the day. I recently had the shower gel. Excellent. Mr Smelly, I love your channel.
Great video. I was thinking there really aren't a lot of men's offerings from Chanel which is a bummer. Mostly women's. I'll try a few that I do not own to see what else I like. BTW I bought my Pour Monsieur EDT in London Gatwick duty free it's not sold in stores here in the states only online (I just found) but SA's had told me not available at all. So you are right about that.
I have just discovered your channel thanks to Gerard George and I really like your videos. So you've got a brand new subscriber from France. My number 1 Chanel is definitely Egoist. A really stunning and timeless scent. I used to wear Anteus in the 80's and tried it again at my local Sephora but I have got the feeling that it smells more synthetic than in the past. May be the castorium that has been replaced. I'll give it another try and ask for a sample.
I still have my stash of Egoist from the 1990s. Bought 20 bottles from a store that was going out of business in New York City. I remember paying $20 for each. I thought I was crazy when I got home realizing I spent $400. Now I am looking back and realize it was the best buy I ever made. I have always kept them in my freezer door in their boxes. Lately, my sister has been eyeing them to sell on ebay for a lot of money since they still smell the same, having never been exposed to heat or light. I watch her like a hawk when she is near my refrigerator. When I do use one bottle, I get compliments galore. I heard the formula changed and was curious so I took my bottle to Saks Fifth Avenue to the Chanel counter to compare smells. When they realized I had an original from the 90s, all the salespeople had to have a whiff and they confirmed that indeed the scent has changed and not for the better. I explained to them how I store all my bottles and they agreed it was the best method. I also said that my uncle, who worked in the perfume industry in France, gave me another tip if you have a pour bottle, which I had. Since oxygen is a killer, to keep the level of the liquid up to the top, put in the tiny gravel that is used in fish tanks to settle in the bottom as you use up the fragrance. This will bring up the liquid to the top and eliminate the air in the bottle. I have been using that method for over 30 years along with keeping my bottles in total darkness ( I wrap them up in aluminum foil once I take them out of the box) and keep them in the freezer.
Coromandel is easily my favorite; ah, such a scrumptious patchouli. But Egoiste is awesome too. Bois du Portugal had a rough start but is growing on me. Good selections Mr. Smelly
Pour Monsieur....eau de parfum- my top choice. Long ago I used the eau de toilette concentree, but then it became hard to get. Used Bleu, eau de parfum and parfum for years..... but have gone back to Pour Monsieur eau de parfum. I get a lot of compliments with it.
I totally agree what u say about Egoiste, its pure quality only i feel to young for it, i see people around 40+ wearing this. My top 3 chanel fragrances are, 1. Chanel allure homme sport Eau Extreme, 2. Bleu de chanel eau de parfum and 3. Chanel allure edition Blanche.
thanks for this review . I love allure homme sport eau extreme and blue de chanel edt more than edp I also like egoiste platinum , for me it is more fresh and modern hugs my friend ...
QWERTYOP80 the nutmeg and vanilla mid and bottom notes are beast mode to me. Compared straight up head to head with egoist I find egoist has that fresh pop at the start but gets its longevity in a powdery form where the top notes for Pour Monsieur are more subtle to and usher in the spice ness beautifully. That’s my take.
Fantastic selections. By the way, I recently purchased a 100 ml bottle of Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza per your recommendation and I could not be happier. Just a marvelous, classy citrus that you can dress up or down. Thank you for your content- keep up the good work!
Fantastic video! I am curious to know what your take on Pour Monsieur concentree ( currently renamed as Pour Monsieur EDP) . It's made by Jacques Polge who also created Egoiste. The opening note is very different, but the the last note is very much like Egoiste, I find.
Thank you very much for expressing your appreciation to my, by far favorite Parfum brand. Comparing Chanel to Dior for me is like the Beauty & the Best. Chanel being the beauty. I have 9 Chanel fragrances, 3 aftershaves and 6 deo's. The Bleu de Chanel EDT is simply the best fresh Spring/Summer scent that I have. The EDP version I use for Spring/Summer nights. You may find the performances weak, as sillage is shy and longevity moderate. In fact it is mainly a skin scent which usually lasts 4 hours on my skin. However in Summer as my body heats up in the afternoon, it reactivates the parfum and can go on for another 3-4 hours, subtil, gentle. But the scent. Whenever I spray this, no matter my mood, I can not prevent a smile to appear on my face. Even when I am down. Furthermore, I don't just use an EDT or EDP, I use a fragrance line!. I wear also the aftershave lotion and aftershave deo. Either spray or stick, which is simply the longest lasting deo I have come across. For really heavy duty like 6 hours dance parties in the middle of Summer. The aftershave is also the one I love most. I have over 20 aftershaves. Every shaving man should try the Tonic, mind you. By the way, today I am trying layering Bleu de Chanel with one of it's clones, Bvgari Aqva Amara, to improve longevity. Today it's rather cool. Another day I will try also another clone, Dior Sauvage. Although that might just be too loud. Out of my entire fragrance collection, my highest rated is Allure Homme Sport eau extreme, which lasts 12+ hours and is the most versatile I have. All year round, from the warmest Summer to the coolest winter. Lovely scent, just a little less than Bleu de Chanel and Edition Blanche. Being Allure and Allure Homme Sport, also very nice. As for the Fall/Winter Antaeus is my actual favorite, rather than Egoist, which by the way reminds me strongly of my wife's favorite Chanel nr. 5. Another good, and versatile Chanel is Platinum Egoist. Longlasting and heavy projection this one. I don't have Pour Monsieur. Maybe I will buy it. At the end I will want to finish my Chanel collection, rather than to use it on regular basis.
I'm SO FUCKING GLAD you didn't just say "it's like lemon meringue pie in a bottle!" For edition Blanche like all the other unoriginal reviewers. Love that fragrance, as well as Antaeus and Pour Monsieur. I'd round my list out w Eau Extreme and Bleu. And oh man how I'd love to try a gentlemans cologne.
I have Egoiste and edition Blanche, but here are my best based on what i have smelled: Egoiste Antaeus Allure homme eau extreme Edition blanche BdC Platinum Egoiste leaves me a bit cold.
Egoiste has been my Signature Fragrance since I purchased it in Paris in April of 1990. However in 1992, Chanel released Egoiste Cologne Concentree, which I wear on very special occasions! Best regards, Ken
Platinum Egoiste for me. Thats the only scent from Chanels male offerings I love. I enjoy the others and own most of them. But they just dont connect. Im onto my 5th bottle of P.E. Has become my signature over the last few years. Good video and keep the good work. Love your vids!
I haven't tried any of of your top 3. However, I do enjoy edition blance, platinum egoiste, allure homme eau extreme. BDC is very generic for my taste as well
The top two are absolutely without any doubt Chanel's best two fragrances for men, and two of THE BEST men's fragrances ever made, in my opinion... Both of them MUST be vintage (you're right about the oakmoss in pour Monsieur) but also the sandalwood in Égoïste... There's a VAST difference in the new ones... And you're also ABSOLUTELY right that you need proper attire before you spray Égoïste... Pure class... Hit me up for some pics of my insane vintage Pour Monsieur collection..! Haha... Great video per usual. *edit -- I know this was marketed to women but... I have I also recommend No 19... It's TOTALLY unisex (leans more masculine than feminine in my opinion)... The EDT or pure parfum (NOT THE EDP OR poudré Versions)... I wear it a lot... Cool / icy / bitter / chypre and woody
Great video. I would include Yves Saint Laurent with Christian Dior and Chanel at the top of the pecking order of designer fragrance houses. Dior sits alone at the top.
BustaNut InUrMom I haven't tried either of them. I do have Versace Pour Holme and I hear it's similar to one of them. What specifically don't you like about eau extreme?
Hi can you please do a video to compare egoiste et platinum egoiste please? Also please review Coromandel and rate all three okay? I would like to wear Platinum egoiste, what do you think would you recommend it for a girl, please? Thank you for this video.
Allure edition blanche is lovely.. nice for summer but not during high summer season. The citrus is not cheap like. Antaeus you need to give it a little time.. and then it smells just great..masculine, classy .. tried also the Body & bath showel gel n that itself is soo wonderful.. but unfortunately Chanel dont produce it anymore
Vintage Egoiste (Yellow tinted juice) for date night and vintage Egoiste Platinum (Green tinted juice) for a night on the town. Very few fragrances smell better carried in the wind than EP and draws more positive attention. Sadly both are not once they once were and if I could only get the new formulations I would pass on both because they really are a shadow of what they once were at best. Thankfully vintage bottles of both can be found on eBay just make sure the "Eau de Toilette" is printed ABOVE "Chanel".
KING KOUROS is MUCH BETTER but KING KOUROS is for the SHEPHERD only and is NOT not for the sheep. I have worn this LEGEND since the 1981 launch and still wear it today. I’ve spent £thousands on different fragrances over the years but the TRUTH never lies and I ALWAYS come back to KING Kouros. Tip: Buy from BOOTS (only) because it’s virtually the same as the original mind blow 80s version, just gotta shake each time before use to keep all the notes mixed properly! Then it smells absolutely amazing on the opening! and then its projection/performance/longevity/dry down is also absolutely gorgeous!...... it’s known as KING KOUROS for a reason. It’s also the ULTIMATE women panty dropper TRUST ME! 10/10.
Hello MrSmelly video is really good.. but i want your help to chose a fragrance for my Girlfriend. She is just obsessed with old chanel batch code 6302 production date december 2013. she is using new chanel but not satisfy with new changed formulas . Please suggest me the same or better one fragrance like old chanel i mentioned above in my comment . please must reply.. your quick reply shall be highly appreciated Thanks 😊😊
Good question. I have only sampled one old Antaeus from a tester and it smelled the same to me but would like to investigate further. Certainly the new version is a very good fragrance.
I'm 23 and my signature frag is Egoiste, definitely dress-up (though still nice to spray and relax to at home during the evening). Doesn't have to be worn with a suit though, a simple silk shirt is enough. It has a wonderful sillage, I wish it performed just a tiny bit better though. Allure homme sport was the first real fragrance I owned, one of the best compliment getters. The extreme version is pretty good too, less citrus more musk. Not to hot about edition blanche, its very boring to me, and I believe most of the opposite sex prefers the other allures. Bleu is generic but probably the best generic out there, I own the EDP. I've smelled Antaeus once but it didn't leave a mark on me, I'll retry it at somepoint, never smelled pour monsieur. PS: Egoiste has BY FAR the BEST commercial for a fragrance I've seen, I hate all the modern ones, do you know any other artistic frag commercials? Maybe you can make a video for fun about best frag commercials.
Nice, but not even a mention of the ORIGINAL Allure Homme !?!? That one is by far the best of its line, and way ahead of BDC in my opinion. Such a sexy and classy scent from 1999.
( i'm french sorry for my english ) I love Égoïste. I'm carry this perfume since i have 15 years old , i'm 25 today and it's still my favorite and all day perfume.
@@paulwatch5990 ahh get your nose on it - it's a stunning leathered, herbal, little powdery/floral thing with an animalic kick due to castoreum. Was my SOTN last night!
Yes I liked that idea as well. Similar to how I feel that a slightly run down classical architectural style building ....say pre WW2 or earlier ...can still seem elegant "shabby chic", yet a modern building in a similar state just seems like an old dump
Pour Monsieur. Nothing like it. A tasteful fragrance very cleverly formulated. Blows everything else i spray on out of the water. It isn't strong but you cant help but think that if it was, it would cheapen it. The Concentree version lost something.
Finally a classy fragrance reviewer jeje besides Jeremy my dear friend please show more of your thoughts on fragrances with more staging you are doing it great keep up the great work
some one gave the respect allure homme sport deserved it's been my signature scent also for a long time gotten me loads of compliments but in life you need to move on so now I am living a life of a fraghead with 100 frags still counting very expensive hobby but I love it peace sir let's project 😎😎😎😎😎
