I put similar Torque Airbags on my Tundra. I had a problem with one air bag leaking down and Torque was great at getting it replaced for me. They were great to deal with. The airbags work great at improving the suspension on my truck and leveling the load put on by the trailer.

I wasn't expecting the little DEF fill area inside your fuel door, even if it's only a dummy like me! Great spot to put those air valves though.

Great video, Todd. I’m considering some sumo springs on my RAM 2500. Feel like I’m getting some rebound hauling the RV, 1000lb tongue weight. I’ve been over my weight distribution hitch 3 times now. All the numbers match up. So now I’m looking at suspension.

Great video…. Always look forward to watch your how to videos. Yes, a gas engine is a lot simpler… No DEF, cheaper easier to find. When I saw you put airbags on my way. Oh no… With my single axle I believe there wasn’t a positive with airbags because I had to put 5060 pounds in them and it made them like a balloon. But with your heavy duty Dooley, it makes a lot more sense not to mention the torque brand being heavier duty.

Great video Todd! To bad you basically had to do the install twice because of poor directions - seems much better the way you did it like the Firestones. I plan to put backs on my 2017 F350 and appreciate your info/install video. I had planned to put the air fittings in the gas fill area and really like how you did yours. Thanks again.

Thank you for the video. I've installed Air Lifts on my previous truck and I am looking at installing them on my F350 7.3L gasser. great additions. I'm going to take a look at these now though. I ordered my 21' F350 with a gasser on purpose & I am sure glad. Plenty of power towing my 8400# tt and mpg's are pretty good at 10.3 average towing up & down the hills & mtns here in the PNW. On a 4200 mile trip friend with a diesel averaged ~1.5mpg's better but was paying ~$1 a gal more + DEF. I had no issues keeping up or down any hills or mtns with him. Braking is not an issue with the 10spd. Rarely use the brakes. I can buy a lot of gas for the $10k cost difference as well & no emission problems. BTW... the Amazon link says, "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." hope they come back.

I really enjoy your detailed videos as I’m looking at a similar setup in a couple years. I noticed in one of your videos you were 13,600 gross weight but that was with half fuel and no water or food. That tells me a 350 won’t technically haul a reasonably loaded 1172. I think I may go with a 550 setup.

Todd, you will notice a difference as well after you put on the Torklift upper stableloads. I have the Airlift 5000 Ultimate bags on my F350 along with the upper stableloads. The way I set the air pressure on the bags is that after the camper is loaded, I bring up the air pressure on the bags until the upper stableloads are just engaged with the overload spring. On my Norther Lite that is about 30-35 lbs in each bag. You want your overload spring to do most of the work, not the bag. Good luck and you have a great looking new truck. Now that you just got your new Northern Lite, I think you have the ultimate combination of truck and camper.
@RunawayRoses
@RunawayRoses Год назад
Thanks for your nice comments. Your set up sounds about like what I’ve done on my truck. I put my bags at 30 psi so the stableloads are just touching the overload springs. It rides nice and has worked great so far with the NL. Thanks for your tips and thanks for watching!

You pay for what you get, made in Turkey. I would never have thought to deviate off firestone, or try any of the hacks with your spring spacers. Maybe try Daystar cradles and get rid of that inferior bottom bracket? I prefer manual fill and the ability to independently adjust each side to just about sit on the helper spring... Where you've mounted your schrader valves is clean, but you cannot see your leafs when adjusting. I blew a firestone with a super heavy load and clearance issue with tire. Everybody and their dog carries replacements. Food for thought

Good video but I REALLY wanted MPG. As you probably remember I bought a 2022 Dodge dually quad cab diesel with the Aisin transmission. My cyber friend has a gas chevy dually, with the same camper and he says he gets 10 MPG hauling. JJ, usually tells everything straight. I'm getting 13 but honestly like you I haven't checked it close enough to say I'm truly getting that. The compute says I'm getting 14.3 MPG. but I'm getting a tad over 13 as tested. I haven't even figured out my truck yet. Retired whole seller, I bought and sold things I could move. I am retired now and more of a Dodge fan. But the payload is only 52 hundred pounds and NOT what the internet says. lol, Great video. Your lance is heavy but very nice. My 2023 Northern lite is good for us and lite enough. lol, but cramped.

Just as a reference for you... I have a 21' F350 7.3L 3.73 rear & tow a 8400# tt. I've averaged 10.3 mpg's in ~8k miles of towing here in the PNW going up hills & mtns along the ways. My worst has been 8.5 on a 120 mile leg with strong side & head wind. My best was 13. I've only done one empty freeway trip but got 17.5. Town is ~13, but rarely drive it empty. 4k trip from PDX to Phoenix area I averaged 10.3 friend with simular tt & a diesel ave ~1.5 better. He was paying ~$1 a gal more as well + DEF. Shorter trips to the Coast we have about the same difference. I have no issues keeping up hills or down them with him. Rarely use the brakes going down big hills with the 10spd tranny. No emission issues as well.

@@herb7877 I'm sure you know MORE about the pro's and con's of owning a truck, more than I do since you owned so many rigs. I bought a 2023, Northern lite, my 10.2 fully loaded camper has a slight leak. ONLY leaks in a big down pour. I paid a lot of money, and the dealer wants to put me on the back burner. Is there any special way to recaulk the roof? I suspect everything should be resealed? Should I be worried? I know water is the big no no in campers. Todd, I was wondering if you considered Torklift Stableloads? If so, would love to have your input about them. We just ordered a 2023 Ford F350 Lariat, mostly due in part to your videos. We will be putting a big Host Yukon camper on its back and towing a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. The camper manufacture and the dealership recommended installing Stableloads over air bags. When you get the time, would love to see a video of the towing performance with your Jeep and camper with the truck. Also, are you running all-terrain tires? It looks like you are. Do you have a video up that has any comments on the performance of your dually gasser with that big camper on it? I watched one I really needed to see which is the PAYLOAD video, but I am struggling with the choice between the gasser and diesel motor. I will be driving all over the country and I do not want to have ANY regrets that the truck is not powerful enough to drive the hills/mountains of the country, BUT I really don't want the expense of the diesel or the cost. If you were full on retired, have a cargo/camper weight of about 4500 pounds or so, and driving all the different roadways out there... would you still pick the gasser? Thanks for anything you can offer on this subject.

I plan to do a video about hauling the camper later after I have more time with it. If you think you need a lot of power then a diesel may be the way to go. I’ve had both and so far the 7.3L has been great and handles our heavy camper just fine. But if you’re going through a lot of mountains then a diesel may be the way to go. It just depends on your needs. Thanks for watching!
