[ENTRY CAR] HONDA NSX 2017 DRIFT KING NSX TYPE R NA2 [DRIVER] DK Keiichi Tsuchiya MAX Manabu Orido NOB Nobuteru Taniguchi [STAGE] GUNMA CYCLE SPORT CENTER (GUNSAI)
I'm so glad they're still so passionate about doing these battles. It's great to have comparison videos of the old and new tech. To see the Type R still reign the king with the R badge just means Honda knew what they were doing then. Hopefully we get a new NSX Type R soon! Don't let this passion die!
The new NSX was made in america and they made it too heavy because they only have straight line speed in mind. The Japanese create cars with cornering speed in mind. That’s why it’s performing so badly. The difference between old and new is 1,124 pounds.
The problem is that newer cars are aimed not really at people who want a sporting drive but at those who really want a luxury car, this is an issue with a lot of vehicles IMHO. This track just has enough tight sections to punish the new NSX for its massive weight to overcome the power difference and fast shifting transmission.
This was only one course they tested with each car. Get both cars on a track with more open straights with large sweepers and the NA2 will get spanked hard by the NC1. For tight switchbacks and hairpins a lighter car will always corner better through an apex. On a straight, the more powerful car will leave bus lengths reducing the lighter car's ET in the end despite the fact that it can sprint a bit better through tighter turns.
ehh that does not completely turn it off though. It will still be active to some extent. The only real way to do so is to pull the fuse or remove the VSA modulator completely
drivingkato I mean if you look close enough it has a Honda badge on this one. The ones we got here in America has the Acura logo, which is Honda’s Luxury car division but still the same car anyway so I don’t understand what you meant with your comment! 🧐
300hp is very low for a car these days. The new NSX kills the old NSX on the track. This video is an extremely tight turned mountain touge battle - very different from every day use. New NSX is 30 seconds faster around Nurburgring than old NSX. Although I was disappointed with how much electronics and even the looks that the new NSX has, it's pretty clearly the superior race car, and overall daily driver as well.
Charismatic cars are sadly rare these days but petrolheads are more united than ever. These videos remind us why we love cars and the subtitles give all us fans in the world a chance to understand the passion Japan has for cars - so thank you to the people who translate these videos, and thanks Best Motoring team for recognising all your fans worldwide! Enjoy happy car life for ever❤🚗🗻
Yes, the subtitles are awesome to keep us non-Japanese speakers informed! Thank you Best Motoring!! I still own so many of the old Hot Version DVDs they are the best!
+1 and infinite thanks for the subtitles. I love watching these videos even without, but they're so much more informative when I understand what's being said!
Nothing can compete with these japanese GTs from around the millenium. NSX, Supra, RX7 and Skyline are in its very own league. They share a spirit, even they are different in many ways, and i love it.
I love these Japanese cars from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, they carry soul in their design philosophy. The new NSX is typical of an American designed car, focused on power only.
@@MrCarGuy yes they did sadly, that's why it has awd and hybrid system boost, this car was made thinking about Americans and straight racing and maybe a bit of track in mind, even the lead designer said it was made thinking about pure American muscle power in an exotic body or something like that... Great car, terrible NSX...
I feel nervous but also amazed when I see Tsuchiya driving at 100% in a classic sports car on togue, he is right on the edge whenever it's old vs new he doesn't want heavy car to beat him lol
I would much prefer that someone drives that car as it was build by Honda to be driven, even with the risks that entails; then have it simply sit in a rich man's garage never moving simply so it can appreciate in monetary value.
@@SIXITHS I have a 2018 NSX and put 26,000 miles on mine in less than 2 years. Drive the hell out of it. Been on track many times and more in the canyons on rallies were limits are tested each time. Wouldn't have it any other way. No garage queen here.
This is real sincere automotive "journalism" unpaid by the automakers themselves... The journalism that we all car enthusiasts would like. Forza Giappone!
The cornering motion of the NSXR is just beautiful, that is what a proper sports car should look like, Honda had no intention to make comfortable sports car in that era, only race cars. Both the front and rear end are extremely responsive, and the rear moves really freely, doesn’t drag the front end down
Honda really needs to get their shit together and built an NSX that is what car enthusiasts want, just like the original NSX. The sales number of the new NSX are so pathetic, it basically shows that Honda went totally in the wrong direction. Maybe letting Honda's US division develop this new NSX was a mistake.
I don't think the original NSX got the praise it deserved. It truly has stood the test of time. Both old and new seem to have reviews focusing only on the shortcomings , not so much the merits. Will today's NSX be seen in a similar light in 30 years time? I doubt it.
Hell most of the manufacturers need to start to brush up there games. Besides Mitsubishi they lost there way awhile back and no way in hell they are coming back.
Although I've never had much interest in touge, I never cease to be amazed at the mindset that considers sending an insanely expensive car flying down a narrow, twisty road with maybe 50 feet of visibility a fun way to spend the afternoon.
A legendary driver. A legendary car. What more could one ask for? I see an incredibly well engineered car that is under appreciated along with a very fast modern car. To each his own. The NSX designation is only appropriate in one case. Thank you Honda team for creating such an amazing machine. I loved mine, and it truly is an engineering marvel
How did I not find your channel until now?? . Subbed, and will be enjoying the content. I have watched your work for many many years, its you guys who taught me to look at how a car moves, transitions the weight, and puts the power down. Whats fast in a straight line, does not always transition to the corners, and tbh I thought the tech would have been better in the new NSX with ots torque vectoring. But a legend that is connected with the driver still out performs electronics, fantastic demonstration.
2019 nsx has quite a few suspension changes to help body roll in corner entry. Even so i think that run is quite technical and may well work for the car with the better chasis
Love the old nsx-r, is incredible how mr tsuchiya drives it to the limit considering how rare this car is and the potential damage it may suffer on this tests. Anyway im a big fan of old school driving and NA engines.
