Toyota Camry Fuel Pump Remove & Replace 

Just used your video to change my fuel pump. Thank you thank you thank you! I went in with confidence and knowledge and was able to get it done in less than an hour! Biggest hurdle was getting seats out (worried I was going to break them getting them unclipped) and getting the plug disconnected (used a precision pick to gently pull tab away)! Awesome video!

Hey bro, that wire you left hanging isn’t supposed to be hanging at all; It clips to the top white cap of the module. You’ll see the spot for it. It just got knocked off when you pulled the assembly out. ✌️

Hey boss, I seen your previous video from months ago and I have changed and cleaned many parts but still have this issue. Car wont start unless I press on the gas as it cranks so I think its at minimum the filter but going to replace the pump. Thanks for the video! Did this on my 2010 camry 2.4l last night. Probably one the easiest fuel pumps ive ever replaced. Shop wanted to charge me almost $300 for a job that I did myself in less than 30 minutes. Not sure how long this new pump is going to last as a genuine Toyota fuel pump with filter ran almost $400 new. Actually, the original fuel pump still worked, I just figured it was time to replace it as the car is nearing 230k and still running like new. Just wanted to prevent a potential future problem ya know ;)

If your fuel pump was quiet it's a sign it's a higher quality built pump which is good.

Thank you sir. I currently have "slow acceleration" issues and is working my way up to seeing what the culprit is. So far I've changed: air filter, mass air flow sensor, spark plugs and spark plug coils. My next guess is to have my fuel filter and fuel pump changed. This definitely should be the problem because no check engine light came on (ever). Being the engine light hadn't come on, eve the toyota dealership couldn't figure out the issue without the lightning to get a code reading. So, this will be my next step because other parts in my toyota (02 sensor, etc) are pretty new and has no wear and tear. The car still drives, but it's when I stop at a light ir sign (or traffic) completely, then press the gas pedal, the car doesn't recognize that I want it to drive before I possibly die haha. Wish me luck.

If the Camry has been seating for a week, which doesn’t have any fuel pressure, can you leave the fuel line connected to the fuel rail?

hi william. ordered my pump coming. i am getting lean fuel errors. hard to start. replaced pcv, maf, plugs and coils. losing power on hills. I see people disconnecting the brown square fuse and cranking car to remove any fuel in line. will disconnect battery as well. will i get fuel when i disconnect line? any other tips? thanx for ur help.

I performed a fuel pump replacement today and want to share details. I disconnected the battery but not the relay fuse for safety and to prevent any electrical sparking. There are two ways you can proceed. You can purchase and replace the whole assembly which includes the pump and filter. Or, you can purchase the filter and pump together and swap them out of the originally assembly in the car. I chose to purchase the assembly. First off the bottom seat has to be removed. I used a long screw driver. there are two metal loops that protrude from the seat down into the body of the car and latch on. you need to get next to them and pull the screw driver neck up. this releases the metal loops from the body and the rear seat can be removed. It is kind of a violent motion. There is a metal plate covering access to the top of the pump. It is glued in with a silicone type of glue. I scored that glue with a utility knife and removed the plate with flat head screw driver carefully working the plate from the body. Once that was removed, I let it hang by the front of the seat area and placed it into a large ziplock bag to prevent glue from staining any part of the interior. I had a tough time removing the power socket from the pump. you have to play with it. Push the top tab away from the center of the electrical connector and use a flat head to remove the plug from the pump. You have to play with it. I would watch different videos and focus on that. I still dont know how i pulled it off. I used a flat head to remove the clip from the fuel line. No problem. I read that someone had a corroded clip and was afraid to break it so I bought two at Toyota for $10 but didnt need them. I had rags for when i separated the fuel line from the pump I also bought a can of spray air in case I need to blow fuel to evaporate it. However, there was not much fuel that came out. I used a philips head and socket wrench to remove the metal plate that holds the fuel pump in the tank. You can use either as the bolts have philips head crosses embedded in the. 8 bolts. 8MM. Be careful. I dropped one but was able to recover it. I took the old fuel pump out and used the rubber gasket from the old one that seals the assembly pump into the gas tank. I then put it back together. The assembly is "spring loaded" meaning you have to push it down to secure it with the screws. Took about an hour. I had a check engine light on and slippery wheels and vsc lights on. I replaced the mass air sensor and the pcv valve. I replace spark plugs and coils recently. lights came on and off and on and off intermittenly. Hopefully this will do it. Car starts so much easier. We will see.

I've got mine in the shop now with 25 PSI of Fuel Pressure should be 45-55 PSI, previously replaced the Air Filter and MAS Air Flow Sensor to no avail! Symptoms: Ck Engine Light, Poor Acceleration and NO Start Condition when Hot! Scanned the codes and "Low Fuel Pressure" code was in the Computer... Fingers Crossed ';-)

I have slow acceleration problems and sometimes my car will crank up for about a second and cut off then takes about 10 more tries to crank up. Is that a sign of the fuel pump? I really don’t want to spend any unnecessary money. If someone could hit me back quickly it’d be much appreciated

I changed my fuel pump on my 07 Camry didn’t work maybe a bad pump tried 2 different new ones still wouldn’t start. Towed to a shop they said it wasn’t getting spark or fuel so it needed a fuel pump which they can do for 1200 I said no thank you

2011 le base 370k was neglected till now. All OEM stuff never change nothing, not even the fuel filter or pump or even trannie filter or trannie oil. Only thing did was tune up plug n air filter every 100k. Yes air filter every 100k yikes. Oil changed every 7k with synthetic oil. Just did plug, n coil set, drain 2.5 qts trannie and fill, throttle body n maf cleaning, air filter. New alternator since battery light comes on. No check engine light so mechanic shop can not fetch a code n still charged me $90 for diagnostic. Still has problem of rpm never going over 2000 since trannie be shifted at 2000 rpm. Hesitation when shifting gears. Lost of power while driving from a stop Going uphill only at 1500 rpm at 50mph. Any higher will causes more hesitation with RPM jerking from 2000 to 2100rpm. Fuel pump n filter will be next to be replace n hoping that will solve the problem. They want $1000 for the fuel pump job though. Maybe just buy another used car instead. I dunno, still using my Camry as a daily commuter going 2hrs each w

Hi everyone. Does anyone have had an issue with aftermarket pump, I bought mine from AITOZONE , and had to replaced it twice, one lasted 3 months the other 8 months . Wondering if is quality of the pump or something else. Thanks. Whoever can help me.

Dude, I literally almost fell asleep with your monotone voice. You sound like my old band teacher, right he turned 95! And we all heard your fuse box covers more so than your actual voice, which turned out to be the most exciting thing in the video.

Do NOT do this replacement as an amateur since it is working with an opened gas tank and gasoline vapors. Hire a 'mobile mechanic' and get the pump for your model/make ahead of time and just pay him ! Opening the gas tank with raw fuel in it does not allow any spark for any reason. NO mistakes can be made. Hire a certified mechanic to do it. Do NOT take a risk. It's an easy and fast job and I had a mechanic do it on a 2000 Corolla after 285K miles. Pay him and do NOT risk it! If you want to be a 'smart-ass' and post insults, do it elsewhere ... I will report your harassment.
