thanks for this valuable info,my 2.2 camry has 197000 miles and this week it developed EXACTLY same oil leak.i was about to order oil pump kit. now ill just try this lil gasket along with new timing belt, water pump and them rollers.thanks
Having this replaced on a 3.8 Camaro now after 3 shops couldn't diagnose it. Replaced a oil level sensor, intake manifold gasket, & $500 later, had same major oil leak. Finally diagnosed as Timing cover /case or something. $250 fix.
If it leaks when the engine is cold and off, where could it be leaking? It leaked 2 quarts I added in the morning when the engine was off and not running. It leaks onto the flex pipe. 94 camry 4 cylinder.
Disgusted! After having had replaced the timing belt last December as a kit from Napa now the same leak you have shown! Heck I don't understand why the oil pump and gasket can't be also in the kit with the water pump and idlers as this is a common problem that they know about and should be replaced! Now it has to all be torn down again to fix the stupid leak!!!
That's a leaker. I'm doing a shelled water pump and timing belt kit since have the timing belt off for the water pump and water pump housing. Have to flush the cooling system as aluminum filings from the water pump housing getting ground into after the water pump bearing went bad. it was bad enough that metal shavings from the bearing were in the bottom of the timing cover housing area when I pulled the timing covers.
Just had timing belt , water pump housing , oil pump seal gasket seals all done for $770 . Not bad considering the car is bullet proof. I would hate to put money into a Nissan or ford .
Hi, when you replaced the oil pump gasket did you have to remove the oil pump base also and lay it flat? I find that the new gasket won't sit in the channels when the base is still mounted onto the side of the engine... your comment please?
@@bradschultz4370 nope just the damn seal from the oil pump itself. Not the whole unit that mounts up to the engine. But I replaced the whole thing anyways
I have a massive oil leak out of my 99 RAV4. It’s not coming from any of those seals from the camshaft or crankshaft or anything. It was leaking around the housing from the oil pump but I put silicone around it and fix that leak. Now I have oil glushing out of a fucking bolt where all of the plastic side covers mount into the aluminum housing cover. I don’t know what exactly that cover is called or if it’s replaceable or how much it is. But I kid you not it is gluching engine oil out of the damn bolt. Perhaps a cracked housing? Idk....
My evo slipped a tooth on one of the cam gears be careful guys if yous have a leak get it repaired ASAP or you risk the belt slipping and bending valves
umair khan replace gasket/grommet/oring if you discover an oil leak. The stop leaks aren't so reliable and if it does should only be for a very temporary fix.
