Finally! The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla has arrived in Australia. This all-new hot hatch has arrived to back-up the acclaimed Toyota GR Yaris and give the entire market a shake-up.
Toyota's manual, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive, rally inspired hot hatch competes against some of the most popular small performance cars in the country, including the Honda Civic Type R, the Hyundai i30 N and, of course, the (auto-only) Volkswagen Golf GTI - the perennial hot hatch benchmark.
Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley hits the road, racetrack and skid pan to put the GR Corolla through its paces to find out if it has what it takes to be the new hot hatch king.
He also explains why Toyota is vetting owners, where it still needs to improve and how much it costs to own.
