Bonus video time! After skipping one video in December I think you all deserve a short bonus video this week. Time to get on the sprinter service on a winter day in 2021! Just a short ride, but I reserved this video specially for a moment like this. I hope you like it!
0:00 Leiden Centraal
Get on board and let's take a ride through a snowy landscape. Ready? Set... Go! We depart perfectly on time from Leiden Centraal. Directly in front of our train you can see a green flashing signal with the number 8. This means we are allowed speeding up to 80km/h as soon as our train has passed the signal. At the end of the platform the signal is repeated.
2:29 De Vink (bridge and station)
The sprinter makes stops on all stations on its way. Now let's hit the brakes for our first stop on the line.
6:01 Voorschoten
As you can see the tracks in the middle are still pretty much covered in snow. The tracks on the outside are already better visible again. This is because the days before this ride most trains got cancelled due to frozen junction. For starting up mostly just sprinters where running. Until today.
We only have 1-5 days a year like this in The Netherlands. Investing in expansive junctions like in Switzerland (made to withstand lots of snow) would cost a lot of money for only 1-5 days of problems per year). A politic choice of course.
11:03 Den Haag Mariahoeve
First stop in the The Hague area.
14:04 City Windmill
I love the fact old windmills like this are preserved in our country.
14:35 Den Haag Laan van NOI
At this station the intercity's towards and from Rotterdam run on the tracks on the left. All train to Den Haag Centraal run of the left two tracks.
16:36 Den Haag Centraal
Final stop for this bonusvideo. Enjoy the arrival at Den Haag Centraal. I hope you liked this short bonus material. No snowy days in our country this winter (so far).
Have a good weekend y'all! :D Cheers!
