Change transmission fluid despite lifetime filling?
We show how easy it is to refresh the gearbox oil on the DQ200. Despite Lifetime filling, an oil change is highly advisable, as severe clouding occurs after only 80,000 km.

Thanks for such an informative video, I have VW Touran 1.6 TDI, 2018. As per user manual my car has so called lifetime gearbox oil but I don't agree with this idea, so I have replaced the gearbox oil at 120tkm and filled 1.7L. I asked the VW official mechanic about mechatronic oil change, he said no need to change it. After watching this great video I am in favour to change both oils after regular intervals, I will be very pleased if you could suggest the kilometre intervals for mechatronic oil, gearbox oil and engine oil. Thanks in advance 🎉

Very informative video for DQ200 car owners! Thank you for producing this video. Will there by any issue if an extra 100ml is added to the gearbox and mechatronics each?

Hello @xuxuonex7427, thanks for your comment and good feedback. We wouldn't suggest to overfill both parts of the transmission. In case of the mechatronics 100ml more, are more than 10% too much fluid. That could have a negative effect on the shifting behaviour. In our opinion you should stick to the manufacturers guideline regarding the fluid quantity in each part. Regards, Team VAICO

Thanks for uploading this video, I have a 2011 Polo GTI with the DQ200, I was very surprised to find a newly uploaded video for such an old gearbox! Especially since there is a lot of bad information/rumours out there about this gearbox and whether they can or cannot be serviced. Why do you think VW list them as sealed for life? They are not hard to service according to this video, so why would they decide to seal it?

Hello MrTuts4life, we can't and will not speculate about the manufacturers decision. But in our experience we can say, that every transmission with a "lifetime" filling that we have covered and serviced so far, has benefited from the fluid change or flushing. The switching behaviour has improved and it should help to maintain the working condition of the transmission. Regards, Team VAICO

Hello, thanks for the video. Is it necessary to have the vcds or any diagnostic tool to do the oil change ?

Hello, you should use a diagnostic device. There is the chance that the vehicle will save some errors and you should delete them after the oil change. Also there will be additional information on the torque for the loosened bolts and filling quantities. For the work itself you won't need the tech because it's all mechanical labour. Hello, I have a Volkswagen Golf 2018 model DQ200 dry clutch DSG Transmission vehicle. I want to change the Mechatronics Unit oil. But I am worried because I am not sure if it will require adaptation after the change. Your opinions on this subject are very valuable to me. Thank you.

Hello. I changed the gear box oil from the dq200. I measured the oil out and it was 1.4ltr. Filled back with 1.4ltr. Should I be concerned and put the extra 300milliter as I thought I needed 1.7 ltr. The car never had a gear box oil change.

Hello, the oil level and quantity can decrease over time because of the chemical degradation. Also the DQ200 is usually underfilled when it leaves the factory. We cannot assess whether the smaller amount of oil can cause damage. To be on the safe side, we have kept to the specification of 1.7 l. Regards, Team VAICO

@@VAICO300 millilitres is way to much difference. I would expect something like 50 or max 100 millilitres. Shall I put the extra 300 millilitres on the car? So far hadn’t noticed any issues with 1.4lt

Hello, great vid! My mechanic replaced my transmission oil as 3 litres instead of 1.7 litres. He said it's bcs there is no oil pump in this model, thus it has to be oiled up until halfway point of it's volume. What do you think about it, is it wrong or do harm to my car?

Hello @keremgundogdu8205, some of the community has already commented, that they go with 2.3l fluid. That seems like a sweet spot for most of them. We adhere to the manufacturer's specifications, but there may be some room for more fluid in the system. For us 3l may be too much, but if you like to, keep us in the loop and tell us more about your experience if you decide to keep rolling on that level. It will be interesting to hear more on the different fluid levels in the mechanical unit of the transmission. Regards, Team VAICO

Today I saw the warning "Gear R not selectable" and I must say I am utterly disappointed. Also gear transmission felt a little sluggish.🥲🥲Now I'll get the equivalent oil that is available in my country and replace it again as 1.7l or 2l 😅😅

I have a new car with the DQ200, it makes metallic clicking noise when shifting in city driving and also over bigger bumps only when it is warmed up, it is annoying. Is this normal for this transmission? I expected it to be quiet, I am disappointed.

Hello petar_d488, That is definitely annoying. Unfortunately, we cannot make an exact diagnosis from a distance. Maybe there is a problem. We haven't noticed clicking noises with the DQ200 so far. Regards, Team VAICO

@@VAICO Actually it a rattle , not clicking. There are many videos on YT about this rattle, type "Bruit de cliquet Boîte DSG7 / Dual Clutch Rattle Sound," or "Gti mk7 autobahn dsg rattle" .... they say its normal, but is does not sound normal. It was not an issue with dsg6.

Some drivers have experienced that the rattling sound comes from the dual mass flywheel. Maybe this part has to be checked, repaired or replaced. If you would like to know why dual mass flywheels start to make noises, we have got that covered in another video on our channel. Regards, Team VAICO

Hello @skate89able, we do have a mechatronics repair kit in our product range, which includes the filter. To replace the filter you need to remove the whole mechatronics unit from the transmission.
