If you want to take your photography to the next level, then consider joining the Royal Photographic Society and attaining one of their accreditation certificates. It has subsidiary groups like Travel and Documentary for further specification. More info at rps.org/

Without a doubt your best. Without a doubt. May I suggest this format is your future. Ubiquitous sailing channels have killed the joy of the adventure of the sailing life. This is a winner. Ground breaking stuff.

EXCELLENT! Jamie and Liz, you blew me away and changed, for the better, everything I think about what you are doing. In fact, of all the sailing channels and their "style" of sailing, yours exemplify what we would most like to emulate. I was worried that this was going to devolve into some type of preachy affair - it most certainly did not. What a wonderful life well lived. Well done indeed!

Thank you for the kind comment! It's great to hear you enjoyed the photographs and accompanying stories. No videos of India, alas.

@@followtheboat ..it's amazing how much better things are today (technology) compared to just a few decades ago. You can't see the changes from day to day or week to week or often, even month to month. But over the course of a few years you see the jump. At some point video cameras got way better and much cheaper. Not long ago it would have taken millions of dollars to video capture your voyage around the world. Drone shots would have been impossible without a hellibopter. Amazing.

Jamie, I have been following the boat for about 5 years now. This presentation is wonderful, and paints you in an entire different level. I don't normally spend an hour and a half on a single presentation. but your's was a treat. Good luck and fair winds.

Only 10 comments Jamie!!, what an amazing vid and photos, currently half way thru....bit of an epic, but I was so hooked within the first 15 minutes. Identify so fully with your torn emotions on taking those shots, do I /Don’t I, but not capturing those moments is always a lingering regret. I took a shot two weeks ago in Arrieta Lanzarote of a young local guy outside a beach cafe very fit! just reclining in a deck chair soaking up the sun, he was covered in the most amazing tattoos, he gave me the thumbs up so i grabbed the shot and then walked up to him for a chat, he explained he wanted more tattoos but his mother had told he had had enough . 50 odd years ago in Jankara Market, Lagos amongst some memorable shots my favourite of 4 young girls sitting on a bench just gazing up as I took their photo with beaming smiles. Treasured moments!!

Thanks, Chris. Yes, these days I tend to shoot first and ask questions later. Every photo takes me back to the moment I took it.

Hi Jamie. I enjoyed your presentation very much. It brought back pleasant memories of my travels in S. Korea, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. Your are right about needing time to get to know the people, we lived in Ethiopia for work and traveled in Tanzania for work. I agree with much of what you said but I was a little surprised. I do know you get better pictures by not asking if it is OK but in Africa there are places where taking a photograph can be dangerous. In eastern Ethiopia taking a picture of bridges can bring the military down on you and taking pictures of people or camels can make the person or owner angry enough to point an AK 47 towards you. The latter is a cultural issue so I gues that I would emphasize your point to know the culture. I know this was about people but I would like to see something about your Nudibranch and other underwater photography.

Hey Jim, thanks for your insights into Ethiopia. That's always been a country I'd love to visit, especially the ancient 'buried' churches I once saw a documentary on. Yes, knowing those cultural norms is important. Unfortunately the underwater photography didn't fit the brief with this particular presentation.

That was an excellent presentation, and it was good to see the evolution of your work. You are also a good videographer, and some time back, I commented on this. It must have taken so much effort to put that together, and a couple of the questions I posted in the chat were about AI's impact on photography and video work. This will have a huge impact on the future. Some say for the better, and many of us say for the worse. Cheers Russ

Hi Russ. Yes, AI could be a threat to photography, especially within the professional environment. It'll also make judging photography competitions more difficult! It's not something that bothers me directly though as my livelihood doesn't depend on photography too much. For me travel photography is about the experience of the place you are photographing, and AI can't take that away from you. You'd have to be a real charlatan for posting up AI pictures and claiming them as your own, though we know this has been done already. Some of the AI tools within Photoshop bother me, and I've seen photography RU-vidrs embracing them, which is fine if you're happy with composite photographs and tell people so. It's the passing it off as your own work that is the problem.
