@@NightmareZerogbs it's just so comically over the top and underwhelming at the same time, like he can literally spin around a tank cannon to use but nah, what megaton needs is a teeny tiny knife that I genuinely mistook for a thumb when it first popped up
Love how the design ethos for this figure was just the word "more". All them gimmicks, play features, compatibility with mini-cons and Tidal Wave. Then there's the giant beetle horns on his head because why not? Armada is the toyline that has everything, sometimes all at once on one figure.
This toy is an absolute masterpiece, such a joy to have and play with! I got it in Galvatron blackberry flavor for christmas when I was like 10 and I can confidently say that the *only* reason he has no leg articulation was because he was so, so good that they needed to nerf him somehow, they needed to contain some of his power.
One of the best toys in my collection. Don't care about the limited leg movement, all the fun gimmicks more than make up for it. That shiv is brilliant.
So glad I grew up with this toy in my toy chest. This Megatron design is so over-the-top and I love it. He’s like a rolling fortress for the minicons in tank mode and a full on commando in robot mode.
Man, I wish we got a NEW Megatron design that can be as good and unique as this one (Yes, I know about the stealth bomber form and it is great, but I really want a new one).
@@elpizo1789 Too bad its only toy was so goddamn small. T30 came out with some absolute bangers of figures, but the size classes were all over the shop. Stealth Bomber Megatron? Deluxe. IDW Optimus Prime, Miner Megatron, and Starscream? Legends. Tankor? Deluxe. Brainstorm? The most ridiculously huge Voyager of the modern era. Trailcutter? Well he should probably be a Deluxe but he was a _tiny_ Deluxe. At least Armada Starscream's getting a second chance in Legacy.
japanese megatron's were so unique, kinda wish japan was given the reigns again, america just seems to rehash G1 or the movies constantly in terms of designs that it's leaking into non G1 characters
I was watching this on the bus with headphones, and the sound quality on megatron's sound clips made me think my headphones disconnected and nearly gave me a heart attack 10/10 one of your best videos yet
Here is something you forgot to mention, though it is a rarely known gimmick fact, so you can be forgiven. There is a recolored version of G2 Dreadwing and Smokescreen, with an additional screw hole, which allows the two of them to combine with Armada Megatron, and then with Tidalwave. It looks absolutely bonkers, but it kinda solves the power balance of Armada Optimus being able to combine with two figures, where as Megatron only got Tidalwave.
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer It is even more ridiculous. Imagine Armada megatron tidalwave combo, with a stealth bomber strapped to his back, a jet plane as chest armor, huge missile firing gatling gun over his head, and tidalwave's leg section either attached to his battle ship section as a shield, or placed under Megatron's feet as a platform.
I once had a dream where I was trying to find the Galvatron version of this in an abandoned building and Tomska off asdfmovie was following me about the whole time. I genuinely think it unlocked some secret desire to have this mould cause I really want him now, but every time I go 'damn wish I could get Armada Megatron' I vividly remember the dream.
To best describe this figure, all you need are those words "the gimic fest". This thing is preaty much gimic after gimic, after gimic, after GIMIC. And I'm not gonna lie, those in the turret or in the legs are fun. Buuut there is "too much of a good thing" saying for a reason. Either way, I would REALLY like to see how Hazbro would tackle this desighn today (and I don't mean the CW Meg's remold. It wasn't bad, but also isn't Armada Meg's)
This really makes me wish the Combiner wars version was just abit more like this. Gavs videos never fail to leave me with a sense of vague disappointment.
3:40 "And look. Listen. You might think that this looks ridiculous and shite, but just because youre right doesnt mean i dont love it." Is honestly the greatest description of a toy combination ive ever heard
Great review, great figure! I had the Galvatron repaint, and I frequently regret that is was one of the items that went in one of my occasional "I need money in a hurry" purges.
You can also combine this Megatron with ‘Dreadwind and Smokejumper’. I think it has to be that specific version of those moulds. I’m not kidding. They’re not even from the same toyline but you can do it. And you can keep Tidal Wave’s arm attachments too. It’s kinda shit but sheer audacity is something to admire.
AbsoFRIGGANlutely one of the all time great all in one tip top jamathon leader bots ever. I miss when Transformers felt like toys rather than fiddly high end collectables for 30 and 40 something's. Armada is choice stuff.
I'm here with the five-hundredth _like_ and a comment - the colours, chonkiness and creepy traps on this toy remind me less of a Transformer, and more of some baddy (or even a goody) from Masters Of The Universe.
My favourite Megatron toy from the Unicron trilogy. Hasbro took the early desing from the cancelled Transtech Megatron and put it into the Armada line.
Clicked this one as fast as i could! The galvatron version is my holy grail, the best toy in history, revolutionary even, so amazing, so perfect, i quite like it, i love it and it is pretty good also
One thing I'd note is that there are several ways to incorporate Leader 1 with Megatron, including on his forearm in two configurations as a quasi-fusion cannon. Leader One's arms are also 5MM port compatible, so he can hold him like a kind of janky gun.
His altmode has so much going on its honestly my favourite base mode, aside from the new Fans Hobby MB version, and he's not even really a base. His face is so good, this is one of my favourite Megatron designs such a unique guy the horns are so good. I used to not really like Minicons as accessory ports when I was a child but now I'm grown up and I have so many Minicons now and just wearing them is actually great I don't know what I was thinking. I do wish he wasn't quite so prone to do that "Decepticons Attack" voice line cause he will do it whenever I slightly move the turret. The Tidal Wave combo is so unwieldy, so silly looking I love it so much its the best. And since you asked there is the thing where you fold Leader 1 into a gun and put him in one of the top tank treads in robot mode mentioned in the instructions for some extra firepower, its kinda rubbish? Probably best not to mention it you're right
armada megatron is the toy that sold me on megatron being a tank now, used to be a big geewunner as a kid and was upset that he wasn't a gun anymore until this guy came along. an absolute dreamboat of a bot with a sexy voice to boot
Have you heard of FansHobby MB-17 Meg-Tyranno Armada Megatron? If you can get him, you will love it mate ^^ I have him and he has leg articulation to! As well as towering over that guy.
I actually thought of getting the Combiner Wars Armada Megatron if I can fine one for the most part in tack and for a Decent price because I really think it worked more for Armada Megatron than it did g1 Megatron and it's Headsculpt is stunning. I will say looking at this really reminds me why out of all the Megatrons not based on g1 Armada was definitely one of the best I liked this take as much as I did Cybertron Galvatrons which I think is the 2nd best Unicron trilogy Megatron/Galvatron design
I think third party folks need to make snap on panels to make every ‘H’ tank into a proper tank. But with Megs here having the mandibles of doom I’ll forgive it.
the Galvatron redeco is vastly superior in my eyes and a toy I've always kind of wanted. it's just so... absolutely itself. this is a GOOD and new take on a tank Megatron. armpit cannon and stag beetle antlers? hell yes. nobody accesorises like Megatron
my only issue is 0 leg articulation.. ruins it to me honestly, I can accept it on g1 Toys, but this came after rid which had modern level of articulation :(( saying that but still owning 2 of him, one only missing the missiles 😂
I had it and it was a great piece. Don’t see much i like in the stores these days, and i agree that leg articulation is a shitty excuse relative to everything they took out. But when is the last time you saw a spring in a transformer? Almost feels like its just exclusively 3d printable shit and maybe a few screws and pins. Rip gimmicks.
@@kheletor3917 I think it has something to do with how it's designed to rotate while the crank stays in place in tank mode that results in the gears grinding.
