but if you don't treat it they convert from dynamic lines to static lines which will show regardless if you're angry, happy or at rest. not to mention they're gonna be as hard to treat as acne scars, botox wont do anything for them anymore.
@@Alfakkin I don't -- just when I'm outside. I read Paula Begoun books when I was a teenager, and she was very big on sunscreen, so I just always used it.
I just have to say, I appreciate the time and care you put into your videos and the way you educate better for FREE (to us lol) than any dermatologist I’ve ever paid to see. I’m sure so many others agree, and I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I literally make zero changes to my skin care journey without checking your page first. ❤
Dr. Ellis, would you consider making videos about other skin concerns in the peri-orbital region, such as bumpy skin texture, skin tags, visible capillaries, etc.? Does it take dermatologists any particular qualifications to specialise in treating this area? Thank you for this video and all the other educational material you create!
I got CO2 laser done twice to my entire face and eyes earlier this year. It really smoothed out my dull skin and gave me a radiant glow. It was painful but so worth it. I also do Botox and use Tretinoin regularly, I have no wrinkles now at age 48. If you can tolerate the pain, laser is the way to go if the wrinkles are getting deep or just starting.
Could you do a new video about mineral sunscreen please ? I would LOVE to have your opinion about the very NEW Aveeno moisturizer spf 30 (mineral) from the calm + restore line. I have it and it is wonderful and elegant in my opinion. It has that peachy tint to it which is not mentioned on the packaging. I think you would love it since it reminds me of the original face shield from colorescience but creamy 😊
I love your honesty and your educational videos. They are so helpful. I’m in my late 50s and just started learning about a lot of this for five years ago.
I’ve tried that eye cream that you recommended. And I haven’t really seen any difference but maybe it is subtle. Love all your products. Maybe you should create one….haha.
I apply vitamin c ...and also a retinaldehyde serum with retinol and ceramides by medik8...Miners Sunscreen has been applied religiously , colourscience is the Brand ..Also hydration is absolutely necessary! I would like to try a Fraxel laser but Im afraid of the heat so I would rather stick to regular microneedling...
I would NEVER use retinols around eyes. When mybomian glands are destroyed there is no fixing them. This is not something you can't test to see if it causes dry eye because once you have it you have i, there ist no going back. Dry eye can be a chronic really bad condition so using anything around the eye that would jeopardize those delicate glands is really bad advice.
Not seeing people apply sunscreen to their eye area is SO REAL!! I always mention it their comments, and I get they want to put makeup there, but that's not a valid reason to me. Eyelids and lips are the most neglected 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
There are tinted eye sunscreens that people use and apply makeup over or even regular tinted sunscreens that also help with that. There are several derm channels who've done GRWM morning routines including their makeup and tinted sunscreens around/on the eye area.
@@charlotte7268Let your sunscreen sink in. I use sunscreen as my moisturizer first thing in the morning then by the time I put foundation on it goes on nicely.
@charlotte7268 1st, u should ALWAYS let ur spf dry down before applying makeup. Otherwise, u move it when applying makeup, which then defeats the purpose of the sunscreen. 2nd, there are a bunch of sunscreens that double as primers. I.e., e.l.f. but especially korean sunscreens are just elite for the reason they are made just to be used under makeup. 3rd, drmtlgy & color science each have their own tinted eye concealer to use as a base around the eyes. They are both elegant and easy to work with.
PLEASE. Make an spf stick for the eye area. I saw the UK and Europe has them and id looove that. I’ve seen a retinol eye stick but I’d really love a spf eye stick that’s maybe brightening as well.
I absolutely ADORE this video and the information! I've always heard that you are not supposed to use sunscreen around your eyes so therefore I haven't but gosh I'm starting TODAY!
Great info, thank you! My favorite eye sunscreen is Drmtlgy’s Luminous Eye Corrector SPF 41. I highly recommend it! On another note, I love your shirt! Where is it from?
So what can I do for the lines below the crows feet, that cover the cheeks when I smile? I went to a Beauty Doc and He said, Botox and Filler won't help, I need a lift! I am 51 and my skin looks really good. No wrinkles when I don't smile. Will TCA help?
If you don't mind spending the money, there are eye sunscreens like drmtlgy spf 41, colorscience total eye spf 35, supergoop spf 40, etc. I've also seen derms recommend peptide eye products in lieu of retinoids for folks who are sensitive.
@@creativefierce Definitely. But some folks like them. I've also seen derms recommend SPF lip balms, kids mineral sunscreens or sunscreen sticks for the eye area.
Hello! Thank you so much for all your videos! Wondering about the lower crows feet from larger cheeks. Is surgery the only main option here? I’m almost 40 w good skincare but my smile causes so many wrinkles there. Thank you!!!
I’ve had ‘chubby’ cheeks since I was born, they were *very* chubby for most of my life - and of course I hated them until I got to be in my late 30’s - 40’s, (after which I was grateful for them!) I have the same problem/question now though…she mentions them, I’ll call them ‘chubby cheek’ lines, then speaks about having no lines at all around the eyes being a little weird (my word, not hers!) then she goes on to talk about various laser treatments so, like you I wonder if there’s some other options that got skipped over. (Maybe filler would be an (the) option she meant for these ‘chubby cheek lines’ because I don’t see how laser resurfacing would be a good treatment for them.😊)
I watched the whole video and also wondered if there were additional options for the “chubby cheek lines” people. She might have been telling us that the rest of the video didn’t really apply to us, since the lines we’re concerned about aren’t textbook crow’s feet.
I started Tretinoin a couple of months ago through Agency. I opted to try the eye cream, which contains .002% tretinoin. It doesn't irritate my eyes at all with nightly use. Is this enough tret to be effective, though? Or am I paying for something that will give similar results to other retinol- or retinaldehyde-containing eye creams?
I use their Crystal RetinAL 10 for eye contour and the difference (especially the dark spots) has been crrraaazy🙌🏼✨. Hope she answers, I' d also love to know her opinion. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
I have been using my Tazarotene around my eyes. First I dont see any improvement-only more wrinkles under the eye. More, not less. Will this get better or should I stop? Been using it for about 3 months with no irritation.
They all sting. Best I can do is apply powder around my eyes and then apply spf around the eye withouth getting it on the lashline or upper mobile lid.
The Neocutis FIRM RICHE made me a believer! I am a religious user (and reapplication) of SPF, but this product is amazing. It's one of my GOAT skincare products.
thanks that was very helpful and compact information! One question - I also have the lower crows feet which you mentioned, so what would you recommend to treat them as well? Would filler help?
@@Bird5861tr4 that makes sense. unfortunately I struggle to find an SPF thats moisturizing enough for under the eye that also doesnt break me out all over, and I also cant find an eye cream+SPF combo that doesnt pill or catch in my fine lines
I use the Paula's Choice Super Light Wrinkle defense SPF 30 around my eyes and on my eyelids with no eye irritation. It dries down matte and won't budge. It even works well as an eyelid primer for eye shadow. Most chemical sunscreens I've tried make my eyes sting and water up. I've also used the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics SPF50 around my eyes without irritation.
Hello! Can I use the same product around my lips? For wrinkle “of smoker” (I don’t smoke but got them 😅) I use already Beauty of J 2 products you mentioned. Maybe I can use them at upper lip? Thank You
I got Sculptra and I’m convinced that the new plumpness in my cheeks is causing significant smile lines under my eyes. Very disappointing. My face looks nice and full at rest but I’m not sure it was worth this result. I recently had a Denza RF treatment in hopes of helping this problem.
Can we put Retinol on the lips? I put it around my eye area without any irritation. I was blessed with full lips and as Im getting older I would like to keep them that way
Hi Dr. Ellis, I really appreciate your videos and expertise. I have two questions. 1. What can you do for bunny lines and the wrinkle more on the inside and middle areas under your eyes? 2. I have heard mixed info on Tretinoin v. retinol. Some say you can be on Tretinoin daily indefinitely, but I had a med spa indicate that you should be on Tretinoin for about 5 months, not longer each year, and switch to a retinol for the other 7 months. Do you have any videos that address this?
Look for a hair supplement that contains a *5-αlphα-reductase inhibitor* active such as serenoa repens. I' ve been there. It also changed my color, the orange pigment diasappeared, people used to ask me if I had stopped dying my hair🤦🏻♀️😞. Be consistent and have patience (you' ll start seeing results after 3-4 months). If you need another isotret course in the future, start with the hair supplement at least once month before the first isotret pill. Some derms warn about it, some others don' t🤷🏻♀️😤 Your hair will come back, trust me, it' s a matter of time. Hope it helps. Good luck🧛🏻♀️🖤
Can I use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes and a chemical sunscreen on the rest of my face? I have yet to find a mineral sunscreen that I don't hate on my whole face.
I have the most sensitive skin. I always get allergic reactions. I’m very dry. But I find it so fascinating that I can use my tretinoin cream 0.05% all the way to my eyes without any irritation. I can’t use it on my neck though.
Most products will contain info on the label if they are not meant for use around the eye area. And it won't have sun protection benefits if it is not formulated as a sunscreen with an spf factor disclosed on the bottle.
Hi dr, is it necessary to apply sunscreen while working/cooking in kitchen? I have oily acne prone skin with pih and acne scars just came off accutane but my sunscreen melts away in minutes due to excessive sweating (using skin 1004 hyalu cica sun serum), i live in a very hot climate
Sunscreen protects from UV rays that come from the sun, so unless your kitchen has a large open window through which the sun hits your face - it is not necessary to wear sunscreen. Also look into getting a water/sweat resistant sunscreen.
@@DrSamEllisI personally find every video you post to be helpful. You're a wealth of knowledge, and I'll gladly accept the lessons ❤️ The only "downside" that I have found is that you're not in my area, but if you were, I'd definitely be seeing you in person!
I have used the BOJ eye serum, sunscreen & they're terrific. I have been using BOJ cleansing oil and it'sy favorite of all time. Then I use my Prequel cleanser, which is AMAZING! I stopped Botox 4 or 5 yrs ago. I'm 53. I may get a tiny bit when my kids get married but other than that I do my home treatments, wear sunscreen and a wide brim hat all the time. Helpful video Dr Sam
