To answer your question Katie: that blue device cleans off brass for reloading it, Burt and Heather save their brass to load new bullets into it. It's a common practice for people in rural areas, since buying reloading equipment and loading your own ammo is more economical down the line. Especially in common hunting calibers, where buying large amounts of ammo for them can be much more expensive than simply buying common calibers like 9mm or 5.56 in bulk. Additionally, you can load for more specific niche purposes such as long range shooting or taking certain types of game.

That reloading scene and the one from Silver Bullet had me wanting to start reloading ammo growing up. Still got a bunch of spent 30-30 and 270 brass saved up.

@@cthulhuspawn6290 Honestly? I would say go with 30/30 over .270, simply due to the immense popularity of the caliber and the guns that take it. Alternatively, you could get into PRS which handloading is an essential part of.a

A true classic and gem of a movie. A simple but imaginative premise executed nearly flawlessly on a low-ish budget with masterful practical effects, and some memorable and likeable characters that actually think and make some smart decisions (at least as smart as they can in the circumstances) resulting in a near perfect film that knows exactly what it is and relishes every second of it. Love this one!

Since you liked this one, you might also enjoy the 2006 "Slither", written & directed by James Gunn. Another horror/comedy with wormlike creatures (smaller but much more numerous in that movie). Always enjoy your reactions and your art!

Slither was based on the movie "Night of the Creeps". It finally came out on disc a few years ago. Practical effects all the way and fairly sinister.

One of the subtle things this film does is good characterisations. Noone makes overly stupid decisions for the sake of plot, including the monsters.

There is a documentary about the making of Tremors, in it was also explained that because it did not have 1 specific genre, it did not compete well at the box office, that being said, once it came out on video it became a sensation and grew to having a cult following, this movie and following movies (which include a prequel) grew in popularity but not in theatres.

When the SciFi Channel had the Tremors TV series they had a whole website devoted to the biology of the Graboids. Ends up they are an ancient, land-evolved squid which go through several very long life stages, which is why people don't see them for decades.

You just don't get the same energy and gravitas from CGI that you do from skilled practical effects. This is a minor masterpiece of its kind. Does Walter's death remind you just a bit of Quint's death in 'Jaws?'

I love movies like this, though they're not scary. It's hard to beat fun monster design and great practical effects. I also have a soft spot for movies that don't have a massive budget as it forces them to be more creative. p.s. I love your solution to defeating the monsters was fuzzy socks. I think that would be a first in monster movie history.

Every year around Halloween I love watching new people watch this classic. I unfortunately can't remember the first time I watched this because I was just so young, but me and my dad would rent this all the time from a local mom and pop VHS rental place in our little bitty time. My dad passed when I was 8, and the owners gifted me a brand new tape, and the window sized promotional poster. I've watched dozens of people react to this, and it will never get old. It did terrible in the box office, but was a hit in vhs sales.

You have to consider that this was made in 1990 and at the time, it wasn't considered a "B Movie." Sure, it wasn't a "blockbuster," but it was a legit low-budget, Hollywood film when it was made and with 3 well known actors/performers during the era. Kevin Bacon was a big name at the time, having broken out in 1984's "Footloose," which was huge hit. Reba McEntire(the red head) was a Country Music star and is a legend in that scene in modern day. Freddie Ward was also a well known name at the time.

Great reaction! I love how much we get to see of the creature in full light, and how detailed the whole anatomy was. They put so much thought into how it would move and feel. Really cool.

I've come to love this channel. As a kid I LOVED all these movies from the 70s-90s that used gnarly practical effects. Those were all my favorite, and this is one of them! You should really give Pumpkinhead a watch! None of the sequels, just the original! GREAT monster effects.

One of my favorite things about Tremors is most of the characters make good decisions. Turning most of the Human vs Graboid interactions into realistic conflicts. It is things you can see actually people doing with their skill sets and knowledge. Same with the Graboids as well, they start to realize the traps and tricks and make smart choices. Also it doesn't fall into the trap of making the one educated character have all the answers and know the right path all the time. It is a team effort with strength, experience, and knowledge.

Safety tip: Running barefoot through the desert is inadviseable for a few good reasons: Flora likes to produce very sharp seeds that embed into flesh; a variety of insects and snakes do similarly; and depending on the region, after about 10:45 am you are likely to be scalded by hot stone

@@skeletalkfunnily enough, though they filmed in the desert, it was in the dead of winter, which meant that more often than not, while the cast were off screen they were bundled up in big poofy coats and bedrolls between shots.

My favourite horror, comedy monster movie. Great cast too, some familiar, some less so. Victor Wong (Big Trouble in Little China, The Golden Child) is a personal favourite of mine and the kid who plays Mindy later got a role in some film called Jurassic Park.

You’re right. Rhonda is cute. And Earl was, *briefly,* wishing he was her age again. But then he realized it was better to be Val’s wingman, and get him into a healthy relationship. Certainly better than that Tammy Linn Baxter, anyway. Also, the Graboids have a very convoluted life cycle, which is revealed over the next three sequels. This phase, FYI, isn’t the infant.

Tremors does a lot of things brilliantly. Unlike many horror films, you have a cast of likeable characters, who don’t make blatantly dumb decisions, and who learn about the monsters and how to outsmart them. Not only that, but the monsters learn from our heroes choices too, forcing them to have to adapt and overcome new challenges along the way. It is one of my top ten favourite films of all time, and part of why I’ve grown to love small town, country Americana.

I love this one because of the creativity of Tremors. It's basically an animal attack movie like Jaws, but with a fantasy creature that doesn't exist. It's honestly a tight script with great visuals, and only one character acts like an idiot. Everyone else acts entirely logically and intelligently based on the knowledge they have at the time of an attack. As well as some great creative thinking about how to resolve their issues. Such a good and fun movie 🙂

"Tremors": The B- movie that rose to A-level with a mix of Humor/Horror/Romance. This low budget "little movie" makes big budget, DFX-heavy, Hollyweird epics look like a grade school movie by comparison.;) Kevin Bacon made "Tremors" during a low point in his career and was "Yeah, I made 'Tremors." These days he says, "Hell yeah, I made 'Tremors!"

Good news! There's 6 more movies in the Tremors franchise, and each adds some different permutations or additions to the lifecycle of the Graboids. Part 4 is a prequel, set in the old west, and introduces us to what the worms look like in their larval stage. Tremors isn't actually a B-Movie itself, but is an homage to the old-timey B-movie type monster movies. The movies keep the theme of "monster movie action/comedy" throughout the franchise, including the Sci-Fi channel TV show spinoff. I'm one of those fans that has the whole movie pack. 5-7 sort of drop into B-movie territory for quality, but they're still fun to watch.

This was filmed in the high desert area of the Alabama Hills in California. It actually gets cold in the Winter and gets snow. I dated a girl in college from there. Her graduating class had 4 people. Every single male I met from there teenage to about 50, chewed tobacco also.

I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous without being unstoppable, and there isn't just one cheap trick to defeating them. The people are pretty clever once they figure out the rules, and aside from Melvin they're likeable. Also interesting as a rare horror film set almost entirely in bright sunlight.The sequels are great too, definitely worth watching too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.

another reason why i love this, the characters are not really stupid, unlike a lot of movies, yes they may not be the wisest i know everythng people also in a trope, but they are human, the scientist doesnt know everything, unlike a lot of movies, its sort of parodying the 50's monster movies in that way where the scientists knew everything

just by settings, this is unique, its set in full daylight, unlike a lot of other monster movies or horror, you can see everything here. which takes more skill that ones int eh dark because the dark hides stuff. scenes in in the mouth of madness you cant see much with the tunnel monsters, so i love it this way,

Ever heard someone use the phrase "a seismic shift"? As in, "a seismic shift in public opinion"?. seismology deals with earthqiakes and tectonic plate shifts... and if used metaphorically it means "a big change"

I would recommend reacting to the 1996 horror film Tremors 2: Aftershocks, starring Fred Ward, Christopher Gartin, Helen Shaver, and Michael Gross, if that's OKay? While it doesn't have Kevin Bacon as Val, it does have Fred Ward returning as Earl, who's been hired to deal with a Graboid infestation at a Mexican oilfield. Plus, it has Michael Gross returning as Burt Gummer, which makes Burt more of a main character. It helps cement Burt Gummer as one of the legendary horror heroes and sets Burt up as the main character for the sequels after Tremors 2.

You should try Tremors 2 Aftershock. There were 7 movies in total (I think), but only the first two were good.

There's a couple of sequels (Fred Ward came back in the 2nd movie), a prequel & a TV-show, and Michael Gross starred in all of them as Burt Gummer. They actually made a reboot TV-show 2 or 3 years ago which had Kevin Bacon returning, but it was cancelled before it could be shown. There's also a cancelled video game. I assume you would play as Burt & Michael Gross did the voice, I also heard that Keith David (who you have seen in The Thing & you definitely need to watch They Live 😉) & Frank Welker (legendary voice actor) did some voice for it too. Not exactly a monster movie, but Night of the Creeps (about alien parasite slugs turning humans into zombies). There's a similair one, but that one has some monster effects, Slither by James Gunn. Here's a couple of monster movies; Q - The Winged Serpent, The Deadly Spawn, The Brain & Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. Here's two bizarre creature feature by Frank Henenlotter that I highly recommend; Basket Case & Brain Damage. If you want a couple of fun & bizarre movies, check them out! 😉🙂 Also recommend Henenlotter's Frankenhooker, which is according to Bill Murray himself the best movie of 1990 😉

I gotta touch a few of the what? 7 Tremor films? idk if that even includes the TV show! Shame a cancelled game, that would have been awesome (I'm imagining similar to the Alien games, I haven't tried yet but seen a bit- that would be so cool) not heard of Night of the Creeps but that description alone grabbed me ! Had another recc for Slither so keen to check that out too. I'll add those Monster Movies to the list and hopefully get to em too! thanks!!

There's quite a few decent werewolf movies: Silver Bullet (1985); Bad Moon (1996); Dog Soldiers (2002); etc... Alternatively there's The Monster (2016 film). Not a werewolf movie, but might as well be.

Great movie. I usually don't like horror movies but this is the exception. You should also see Stir of Echos 1999 a sci fi horror also with Kevin Bacon Also a great Fred Ward movie is Remo Willams the adventure begins. I love the scene with the monster that attack the gun crazy couple it cracks me up :) . You got in into the wrong rec room :) . Fyi about the crazy gun couple. The woman is Reba a famous country singer and the guy was famous as the hippie dad (What a 180 :) ) on the popular 80's show Family Ties with Micheal J Fox (Marty from Back To The Future). Also the ending was change because the test audience wanted to be a kiss.

Such a fun film with great effects..like Jaws on land. Great artwork! Yeah I'd love to live out there. Would love to see your reaction to Harry and the Hendersons..great creature design and it's a feel-good movie. Hey have you ever seen the V/H/S films? The effects are pretty amazing in those. Oh and Reign of Fire has amazing dragon effects that Game of Thrones actually used.

Im curious if you'd appreciate effects in movies like -Leviathan -the deadly spawn -the nest -the hidden -the relic -razorback -wolfman -gremlins -she creature -species -and the howling Again not all are great films but from make up, sfx, and creature design stand point are pretty interesting

I wish I'd watched Shape of Water on my channel- that film is absolutely beautiful. I want more horror fantasy (as a huge Jim Henson and obviously Del Toro fan) it seems particularly rare

There was this one movie that messed me up as a kid and still avoid watching it Which is "Troll" from 1986 (and yes you are right not a common genre)

😘Thank you for doing a reaction to this movie... Tremors is one of my personal favorite cult B-movie franchises. It's silly, and corny, but i love❤ it. Burt Gummer (the gun guy) is one of my idols 😃 (🇺🇸!!! F!!! YEAH!!!) ... fyi there is actually a holiday here in the US named after this character (Burt Gummer Day, April 14th... 1st est. in 2017)... 😏once again (🇺🇸!!! F!!! Yeah!!!)

The hump in the ground moving was done the same way as towards the ending of THE THING, They rolled a heavy ball on an angle on rails, covered by earth/dust powder for some scenes. Survival in the desert films, ive always liked THE FLIGHT OF THE PHEONIX both the 1963 version & the 90s Remake, although the 63 film was better, to me. Worms are homaprodites, as are Slugs & Snails (self reproducing) TREMORS 2 was hopeless & silly. I'm interested in the Western set one in the...1880s a good idea, to set the story then, involving Gold mining/"Prospectors" I think, but I havent seen it, STARSHIP TROOPERS was a bit, surviving in the baron Desert I didnt like those Arachnid designs used in that film the tv series, not bad, typical American out back in this film, where they think they can sell ANYTHING. A bit like the farmer segment in CREEP SHOW with the Meteor.

With a lot of the movies that are popular with reaction channels, all of the available ways to watch them look terrible except the physical 4K UHD disc. Like with Tremors, your options are gorgeous 4K UHD disc from a recent scan of the original negative or an HD transfer of third-generation elements done in the late-'90s that's processed to oblivion.

yay! i'll add comments after as you go 😁 the second movie is good too and starts introducing you to their lifecycle the 3rd and 4th movies were kinda 'meh'. i liked the 5th movie and 6th but haven't seen the 7th. they all have good practical effects burt & heather's rec room scene was great if you haven't seen it watch the movie 'slither' some great practical effects too [but i suspect some cgi] i enjoyed the movie 'phantoms' but it was cgi

This movie was originally conceived of as a pure horror film but became more and more comedy as it developed. The film was created under the name "Dead Silence".

I'm a huge fan of Comedy Horrors but honestly, a horror of this similar to the grittyness of say, Alien would be a real pleasant surprise, alongside some survival aspects in the desert I'd love that!

If you haven’t seen the 1976 film Squirm (killer worms film) you should. It’s a fun nature gone wild horror film that came out due to Jaws popularity. It holds up pretty well today and has some pretty good scares.

First time watching. I like the heart rate counter you put on the screen. Never seen that on a reaction video before, nice work :) I think you might like the second and third movies as well, they were pretty decent too. The TV show and last four movies are OK enough to watch, but not as good as the first three. Maybe you can answer a question for me. I've watched a lot of reactions and a lot of people talk about the effects being practical or CGI. Why does that matter to people? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious because if I let myself think about the effects, it takes my attention away from other parts of the movie and I miss bits of dialogue and such lol.

Hi! Thank you the heart Mon was originally for my twitch streams but it made sense to include here too! I'm absolutely gonna check out one or two of the others. So I'm an artist and I like to focus on the practical effects artists works because they very rarely get credited or eyes on their work, the entire focus goes on the actors/directors/screen writers and very rarely on the hard work of the artists. Nowadays even more so on practical/makeup effects artists who are losing jobs every day to cgi taking over. I'm not against cgi, I think the two should be balanced. If there's no balance a lot of creativity is thrown out of the window

if you get a chance I suggest checking out little shop of horros from the late 80's or early 90's the plant creature it's an absolute artists dream, i just rewatched after years of not seeing it and i discovered when it's mouth open the interiors especially the tongue is a beautiful flowery type thing of gorgeous cool tones. I also recommend another film I might have suggested this before but its called night of the demons from the year 1988.

I was wondering if you'd seen the Korean film Host? It's quite good, has a very unique monster that is extraordinarily well designed and conceived. It's not quite a kaiju movie, but it's a very good, traditional monster movie and if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. It's very similar in many ways to Tremors.

this whole movie series is nice and even the tv show. this movie was pure physical and practical effects they did the dirt tunneling scenes by filling a tube with dirt and forcing the camera through it. each craboid above ground had a few people operating it and even in the third movie they had alot of practical effects since you love creativity check out "wizard of speed and time" its a classic oldie but the creator Mike doesnt want anyone to monetize it s all money would go to disney who literally screwed him out of all money from that movie/short

Honestly if you liked the ways they beat the graboids and the escalation of strategies they had to employ to outsmart them, you might like the tremors tv show. Now there are quite a few big turn offs about the show, like due to its miniscule budget most of the effects are really bad cgi and what little is practical looks very cheap, graboids don't play a big role in many of the episodes, it's a follow up to the third movie so you should watch that before it and the only character from the movies that comes back is Burt Gummer. But a lot of the monsters pose interesting challenges that make them hard to take down with something conventional as shooting them, and the ways they do beat them are usually really creative.

Burt Gummer is my spirit animal! His actor Michael Gross was most famous at the time for '80s sitcom "Family Ties" where he played the uber-liberal Dad (who worked for a non profit while being the Dad of commited yuppie Michael J Fox. Burt Gummers wife was played by country music legend Reba McIntyre, while the young girl Mindy, was played by Ariana Richards. She went on to play the young girl Lex in "Jurassic Park" in 1993.

Hi Katie another enjoyable reaction to such a great and fun film there's 7 films in this franchise, and honestly the first 3 are great fun to watch but after that it got a bit silly and repeated itself a little bit, but that's my opinion you may like all seven of them and the actor Micheal Gross who played the legend that is Burt Gummer is in all 7 films, Also followed your socials which are a lot of fun but I'm not a big fan of twitch, anyway if you get chance to you should check out the UK and US co-produced film The Lair of the White Worm from 1988, its loosely based on the Bram Stoker novel of the same name,

This one owes a lot to JAWS despite being on dry land, if your going for a very similar story, it must be done well & this one is, again proof positive that you CAN mix Horror with comedy, BUT that's hard to get right, it didnt work for DOG SOLDIER'S or THE MUMMY (Brandon Frazier) & so many others BUT it did work here, "there's a lunatic going around he's cutting off heads" ha ha ha great comedy, the tongues didnt work, to me, but the reveal of the "Graboids" REAL size did, clever misdirection, a good design with a maggot type body & the domed...pincer like head (apparently based on a Turtle's beak) the original design got rejected because the Producer a woman, said it looked too much like giant dicks under the dessert, as though they were chased by penises.

Fun fact Clint Eastwood first film was called Trantula an other monster film in the 50s He is literally in the last 5 minutes Tremors is a tribute to the 50s and later monster films Them Giant Ants The Deadly Leupus would you believe giant canivorus rabbits Tentacles a giant Octopus Octopus Then you had the later Prianha films All practical effects and fun
