As a kid in the 80s and 90s I used to hate Nutrigrain bars. We were given them often as like energy snacks at like summer camp, during exercise events like sports, etc. Media always made them appear healthy because this was during the lowfat diet craze. They were very popular for awhile there along with sugary granola bars like Kudos (not available anymore sadly). In reality these bars were loaded with sugar and empty carbs.

Some Americans are more health conscious, but these bars were sent from a Walmart in Texas, a store and a state known for obesity. No one should eat these things. They're not healthy or nutritional. Your breakfast sounds great. I'm not Japanese myself, but I was raised as a Zen Buddhist by my Buddhist father. So when he made breakfast, I too ate a lot of rice porridge & soy sauce, with a bowl of miso soup and a side of Oshinko or some other Tsukemono pickles. On lucky days my dad would add a piece of leftover fish from the night before. Then when my mother was in charge she always made me Soft Boiled Eggs with toast-strips to dip, or Cream of Wheat, or on treat-days French Toast with syrup. But Nutri-Grain Bars? Never!.

We don’t like to wake up early and fix up a big breakfast, as we need to get to work, and school, so it’s something Quick and Easy, like Cereal, Instant Oatmeal, with Fruit.. On the Weekend however, we can make these big and elaborate meals for breakfast, like Eggs (Scrambled, Omelette, Poached, even Fried), with Bacon and Sausage, but don’t forget Biscuits and the Gravy..! So many variations to choose from.. As long as my family ate everything I cooked, I was happy..!

Where I’m from, kids usually have milk or juice with breakfast. I’m from Kentucky and some have soda and others have energy drinks but the younger ones usually have milk and juice. Older kids usually have soda, energy drinks, or coffee instead of tea but it depends on the family and where you are in the US.

Not sure what part of America at that as kids. During the week, it was cereal on hot months and malt-o-meal or oatmeal during cold months. On the weekends, we ate eggs, bacon, toast and grits. Weekends were for working, so breakfast was big.

Just a FYI in case you didn't already figure it out friends at TBT: I have never even seen anyone eat these where I live in Florida, USA. The most common breakfast would be toast and eggs with or without meat based upon my experience living here for four decades. Lots of less healthy or more busy people just skip breakfast or get fast food sandwiches to go with a coffee. For children the most common breakfast are the colorful sugary cereals with their preferred cartoon character on the front. Edit: Also, I should add Sunday breakfast are much different in the south of USA than other days. People are more likely to eat big breakfast or cook something like pancakes by hand on that day. Big breakfast is generally: biscuit or toast, eggs, sausage or bacon, and hashbrown. Sunday is also a typical day to do sausage gravy and biscuits.

We donate these to the homeless shelters a lot for the exact reason that Mr. Baloch says! Many are missing teeth for various reasons or they have cancer or injury to their tongues and throats so these soft bars are easy to eat. I keep some in my car in case I come across someone who needs food while I'm out. If any of your North American viewers are the type to donate to such causes or give to those around them, I highly recommend these and also pre-made protein shakes.

Too sweet to be actual breakfast. It's more like a "healthy" snack although it really has a lot of sugar. For breakfast usually the packaged dessert breakfast of choice is a poptart. A good representation of a real American breakfast is a grand slam.

That's NOT a good example of "American kid's favorite breakfast"....that might be all some had to eat or all they got because they woke up late or something but not a good representation of "favorite ". Also, Americans almost NEVER EVER EVER eat those things with tea...maybe in Europe though.

It's not a typical German breakfast, but when our children (or more adults of my generation, who grew up with Kellogg's instead organic Bircher Müsli the children get today) eat it, they eat it with milk or cocoa, not with tea. I don't think it's the Nr. 1 American breakfast for kids, I would guess that's all kind of different cereals or the traditional food of their families. In my opinion it's more a "we are to late, let's rush"-breakfast.
