Triumph Speed Twin Corbin Seat Update! | luggage rack fitment issues.

In this video I see if my Corbin seat will fit on my speed twin after installing the Hebco and Becker rear luggage rack, I then test the SW Motech SLC saddle bag mounts with less than good results.

Just put some washers under the latch plate to lower the latch until it clips. Not difficult to do or to think of.

Or can you just put a shim under the plate where it's bolted to seat? Loosen the two bolts and slide a 2 or 3 mil. shim and tighten down plate, that will raise the metal ring latch.

Love my corbin seat. I had to adjust slightly at first fit. It was a few mm. Looks great and provides more comfort. But I got into trouble with the tailtidy. Pfff... not resolved yet

Very glad to see the SW MOTECH racks fit with the different rear shocks. Btw any issues there with luggage fitted and suspension travel?

Adam, and I meant extending the metal ring piece bolted to seat to reach the locking device...

Did you ever try adding a couple of washers to the bolts securing the metal hoop to the seat? Might give it the few mm extra reach it needs to click on.

Interesting, How about placing a spacer under the rear catch to raise it so it will engage the latch on the frame? 1/4" or so looks like it would do it and solve the problem with the rear rack and side racks? Just a thought. I have had two bikes with Corbin seats and looking at purchasing a 2022 Speed Twin when they arrive. I was looking at getting a Corbin seat for it. I would hope Corbin would modify their seat pan to accept add on accessories to the frame. Your thoughts?

Would be great if you could show us what the SLC system looks like with bags. Ie motech bags and or universal adapter with Kreiga bags. Does it fit above the exhaust? Looks like it's a tight space. Would love to know before I buy

Bummer. I was really hoping to add the luggage rack with the Corbin seat for some light two-up touring.

In fact, the corbin metal ring is bolted to seat. It probably could be removed and have a longer metal ring installed. This is something that corbin may fabricate and sell to us who are adding the two millimeters of bracket metal on the side rails.

Great looking seats arent always practical, and practical seats arent always good looking. Still getting the lady gunfighter seat so my lady is comfortable!

Oh well, thanks for saving me 1000€. I was seriously thinking about getting a Corbin seat for my longer trips and extra passager confort. Shame it doesn't work with the rear rack and side bags holders. BTW is the rear rack compatible with the side bags?

Nice video. I've had no luck with two Corbins in the past. Thunderbird Storm had same problems you're having with racks. BMW seat didn't even fit right out of the box. Best AM seat experience I've had was with a Mustang for the Storm. I think the best option is taking an OEM pan and having a good upholsterer go to work on it. That's what I'm thinking of doing with my Speed Twin. Plus I just think the Corbin seats for the ST are coyote ugly, but that's personal pref.

Yeah, I never end up using the Corbin. A agree with the stock seat modification. I’d like to buy an additional stock seat and alter that so I can still have a stock setup to go back to if needed. Maybe I’ll get lucky and find one from a salvaged bike so I don’t have to pay full Triumph prices.

@@AdamCroll I'm going to try the same, only not as a real priority right now. But if you come across a good seat customizer please share in a video. I think the Tamarit Jerez seat is one of the coolest cafe seats I've seen for the Speed Twin, but it doesn't look too awfully comfortable.

Hey Adam...what about the luggage rack with the motech saddle bag mounts? Will they work together? I have a set of those motechs ordered for mine.

I’ll should work, you would have to mount the motech first and the rack over top because the motech uses all 4 rear mounts bolts but the rear rack only uses 2. So in order to stack them without washers they would have to go on in that order!

Hello there, hey pal, I'm from Brazil and I am riding my second Triumph, it's a ST3 765 RS. It's been 6 months now. So far no issues, but I heard lots of things in the past about Triumph. It's been over one year you have yours. Have you noticed any issues with your Speed twin? I'm asking you that because I'm considering buying either a Speed twin or a Bonneville T120. Thanks pal!

There has been two small recalls that were only preventative maintenance issues. Other than that it’s been an amazing trouble free motorcycle. I’d buy again in a second!

Adam I also have the corbin seat (gunslinger version without the pillion seat). I was considering the c-bow design by hepco becker. Wondering if I may have the same problem getting the seat to latch in lock mechanism. Without looking at the problem in person, could you somehow extended the metal clip to reach latch?

I’m sure you could do that, you’d have to add a few spacers to the rear most rubber bumpers on the seat that rest on the frame. Otherwise it could potentially rock back and forth while cornering.

Had the same issue with the gunslinger. Doesn’t fit, went back to original. I wouldn’t change the latch for safety. Will try to cut left and right into the seat exactly were the brakets join the frame to leave just enough room for them. Will let you know the outcome

Hi Adam, are the Side Carrier the SW Motech SLC Side Carrier for the Thruxtone 1200? Do you have any problem with the mounting and with the bags mounted on the carrier like something that touch the arrows or the fender? The SW-Motech web site for the Speed Tween show another type of Side carrier (very ugly compare with yours.....)

Early on when I got these I was told that they will fit the ST, I was misinformed, they do bolt up however they sit in a weird position. The bags would not hit or get in the way of anything but they are at a weird angle and the fronts near the riders legs are actually wider than the rear marking them very odd looking and like a sail totally making them horribly aerodynamic. Since then they seem to have made ST versions like you said though they are less appealing looking for sure.

I’m not a fan of the thruxton tank, it was more expensive, and with all the mods so far the ST is still more comfortable.

Hey dude. Your SLC mounts look different to the stock photos. Am I missing Something?

Yes, early on in the speed twins existence, I was told that the SLC mounts from a Thruxton R would fit, come to find out after I purchased them that they do bolt up but would hold the bags in a weird orientation. So I’ll probably be selling them and getting the speed twin versions which are now available.

It is and I’ve realized it fits but would splay the front edges of the bags out more than the rear so I’ll probably sell these and get them specifically for the ST. I’m pretty sure they have made some for it by now.

How disappointing that Corbin had your bike for a month and couldn’t make a seat that fits properly. I would have questioned the way they forced it into position when you picked it up.

Yeah I know, they can always fall back on the excuse that it needs to be broken in though. I didn’t question it at the time.
