you can always use the freeze / heat method. Freeze the inner thing, warm up the outer thing. In this case, freeze the shaft and heat the bearing. I wouldn't use a torch in this case, but even body heat on the bearing will make it expand, and leaving the shaft in the freezer will make it shrink, giving you that extra thou to jam them together.
Good idea for pressing those bearings on. You might have to give this car a sinister name...first it tries to take you out by dropping its diff on your head, then it shoots that bearing at you...
