Hi everyone! In this tutorial, I'll show how I'm altering Little Golden Book pages to fit the covers made using my method. Hope this is helpful and thanks for watching!
I have been reminiscing some of your older videos ! I would like to take a moment and say a big thanks for kindness in showing your talents to us out here in this big RU-vid world❣️ I have watched almost all your videos! I have laughed and cried with you😂😭‼️ Have prayed ❣️

I've been busy making journals a few Little Golden Books.. i cant seem to sell them but I'm moving onward...Little Red Hen is on my desk .. and next it Christmas .... Thank you once again for being here and sharing ..Big Hugs .. I do believe this is what I prayed for .. take the struggle out my passion 💜 Caroline.. stilling Dreaming 💜🇨🇦
Just when I though I'd seen every way to adjust the spine and LGB covers and signatures, here comes Gayle! You're an original, and your tutorials just make me happy. Thanks much. D.
Good idea, you explain everything very well. While I was watching I was thinking she makes it so easy to understand. Thank you. Have a great time at your retreat, I sure will miss you. Looking forward to all the wonderful things you will have to show us and teach us.💜
Gayle, you explained it perfectly! I went to my local thrift store twice and picked up 45 different Little Golden Books. I paid $1.29 per book and then received 30% OFF of the total price. Did I luck out, or what? Now, I just need to coffee or tea die/dye (whatever... lol) tons of different papers and get crackin'. You are such an inspiration and I love all of your tutorials❣ Thank you so much for sharing!!! {{{Hugs}}}
Thanks for this! I've been collecting lots of old Little Golden books to make journals, so this is very helpful! Have fun on your retreat and God bless! Kim
Gayle, thank you so much for this video! - had to watch it twice to get it but I just finished my first LBG Christmas book and your process worked out perfectly!
Thank you so much for this. I've been collecting Little Golden Books but have not yet made a journal with any. You explained the process very well. No worries. I'm looking forward to using this method top do my first LGB Journal 😊
Gail, I’m so happy to have found this tutorial from you! ❤️ I plan to do my first LGB after Christmas, so I guess I’ll have to watch again!! Thank you. You do such a good job.
I was so frustrated when I couldn't figure out how I would sew in the signature when I fold my seam so that it would fit... then I found your video describing that you just add a piece of paper to each seam and it fixed my dilemma! Thank you for sharing!!!
Love this idea! I was thinking I should start one of my LGB with you as I"m watching this and then my heart dropped when you said you'll be gone for 5 days! I just have to watch reruns! Have a marvelous trip Ms.Gayle!!! ~Liz~
Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! I had stalled on the LGB journal I started due to my book pages creeping. This was the perfect solution! I ended up sewing using several different stitches and the pages came out great! Love your channel :-)
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I hate the folded pages and I cant bring myself to cut them down. This is the perfect fix! Thank you for sharing your ideas!
I am making a journal for a friends birthday, and some of the pages that I want to put in have been giving me problems. You have just solved it for me. Thank you so much :)
I pop the staples out of the spine, lift out the pages and then cut the covers apart down the middle. This way the book covers and all the pages stay the same size.
I have done it by taking the staples out of the spine but they are hard to get out and I like using up the cut offs of the paper. It adds more interest! Thank you!
I love your Golden Book journals. Do you have a video that shows how to sew the signatures together and sew to the cover? Thank you for sharing your talents.
I think you explained it well Gayle, I like this way. I bought a lgb kit over a year ago and scared to ruin it. I like this idea. I may hv missed it will watch again but was curious how big your spine is. Tyfs 🥰
Love this method! I'm going to do my first LGB for my son for Christmas with his very first favorite book, Let's Go Trucks. (I got it in eBay for $5 - paid too much I'm sure but all the others were close to twice that! ) So, when I cut the covers off, how do I keep the pages in tact? Just cut covers only and then pull the stitching out? (Is there stitching?) Your Christmas fabrics are lovely - I must start getting some of those in - hadn't even thought about them and I signed up for a Christmas TN swap at JJJ. Sheesh. I'll figure this all out sooner or later! ;-)
Cindy, the pages are one piece of paper. You can kind of see when I open them up. There are two staples. Sometimes there is glue depending on the age of the book. Once you pull on apart, it’ll make sense. Go for it, my friend!! ❤️
Thank you so much, Gayle! Now, I want to make a Little Golden Book journal. I am a little confused, though, about how you sew in the signatures with this new method of making the pages fit. Could you do a tutorial on how to do that? Thanks a bunch!
Sharon, Next time I do a batch of Little Golden Books, I’’ll show the sewing in. Really, it’s just opening the page as normal and including it in the signature and sewing it in. The decorative paper on the back is not sewn in, but acts more like a tip in. I’ll definitely do a video when I do the nest bacfk. I hope my explanation will help you for now! ❤️
Gayle, yes it does make sense. I did figure it out and I've made a Little Golden Book. I'm having so much fun! Thank you so much for sharing your tutorials.
what a GREAT idea! And just in time! Thanks for this video!!!! I spent the whole after noon going through IDEAL Christmas books and cutting out pages...:) Do you glue the page "tip-in" ? Sandy
Hi Sandy! I just glue as shown in the video...along the folded over area attaching the tip in page. It won’t go anywhere even though it’s not sewn in because it is glued onto the previous page, if that makes sense. ❤️
I’ll do the flip through when these are done and maybe you’ll see. My best advice is to get a LGB at the thrift store and follow along with this video. When you experience it, it will make sense. ❤️
I'm wondering if you need to glue in between the pages, at the fold? I think this is absolutely genius! Omg, talk about your brain hurting, I'm working on 4 Halloween journals, plus I did some Eco dye-ing today, among other things...my brain is NOT happy with me, LOL! I'm not sure I can handle 5 days without Gayle! :'-(.
Hi Chelle! No need to glue between the pages. It’s actually one piece of paper, so just like folding a piece of coffee dyed paper for sewing into the signature. ❤️
If you sew the folded book pages to the scrap paper would that be to thick for your sewing machine needles or do you need to sew folded piece by hand? I love the LGB tutorials!! So adorable!! XO❤XO💘XO❤
I managed to get an old copy of Pussy Willow & some other vintage LGB's & what I've done is when I cut them I decided to keep the whole width of each cover rather than cutting them short. Now as You know, often when You go to sew Your pages into any Journal, as the signatures get fatter They sometimes end up with an overhang so once My signatures are ready I'll have to see if I still get an overhang or not. If I do I'll definitely try this method. So, Thanks for this!
Gayle, hmm that makes Me wonder if it's just in the UK that some of them have paperback covers. The sellers didn't bother to mention it in the listings either. I've had two now & one of them was actually listed as a "hardback." One was really old & the other was from the 70's by the way in case You want to keep it in mind if You're ever looking online. I'm gonna look into it now actually & find out if They made paperbacks in the US too.
Cindy, I folded each of the original Golden Book covers, so they would fit the cover. In the original book, there are two signatures generally with three double pages. I folded each of those. I hope that makes sense! ❤️
Hello Gayle ! I am a big fan of your JJ and of your videos, and i thank you for that. I don't know how to contact you other than here, and i'm sorry for that, but i have a question please : i am french, and i'd like to know if you think american people would be interested in buying (very low prices) french ephemeras from me... i have access to a lot of them... but i'm debating if i open an etsy store or not... again, i'm very sorry to ask you that here, it seems like an advertisment, but no, i am a real subscriber and admirer of your channel, and a crafter too :) Thank you, Sabine
Hi Sabine! No apologies necessary for contacting me here! I’m happy to help in whatever way I can! I do think American crafters enjoy ephemera from other countries. I would think with the popularity of French designs...especially Paris...that there would be a market for French ephemera. If you have any other questions or I can help in any way, feel free to email me at Gayle.agostinelli@gmail.com. ❤️
@@gayleagostinelli_ct ok cause in your video you say you dont sew it in it's a flip out but that didnt explain how the pages stayed folded together. Lol. Thank you for replying so quickly. I am making a LGB Christmas one now to do my December Daily with you. Thanks again
Angela Denlinger maybe we are talking about different “sewing”. I’m probably the one not understanding. So you fold all three pages into one fold. Attach the flip to the fold. Then sew in the signature on the fold. LGB pages on the left, attached paper or flip on the right. Hope that helps a little! ❤️
