This is probably my favourite twenty one pilots song. It's hard to pick but there's just everything in this. Great rap, the beat slaps and Tyler's falsetto! Also, JOSH DUNN
so groovy and love tyler's falsetto in this! the line about 'i'll morph to someone else' makes a lot more sense after 'The Outside' and 'Overcompensate' and seeing how they they can seize bodies.
My Blood is gonna blow your mind. And if you're gonna be watching the actual music video, please please make sure you pay attention. Cuz if you don't you're gonna miss things. As for morph, this song to me is about the one line "defense mechanism mode" Like becoming whatever you need to be to survive a situation instead of just being yourself. Like...People making fun of you or bullying you, or tormenting you for certain things that happen to be the real you. So you hide those things. You "morph" yourself into a different person to keep people from making fun, bullying, or tormenting. It becomes a defense mechanism. Where in any given situation, you become an entirely different person depending on how people act/react to you.
You've seen the story yet to come at this point by watching I Am Clancy/Overcompensate, but when Trench came out this song confirmed that Nico's full name is Nicolas Bourbaki. There is a reason that's his name but it's too complicated to go into here, just remember that Nico aka Blurryface is one of the nine Bishops who rule over the city of Dema, hence Nico and the Niners. The line 'I'll morph to someone else" has taken on a new meaning since Trench as we learned about the weapon that the Bishops and Clancy use to literally take over someone's body. My favourite song on Trench changes but it's probably Bandito.
I kept checking for your Trench review to start. I agree with you, they are in a different league. They have NO bad songs. People say Scaled and Icy is their worst album but I like it. it shows how versatile and it was upbeat when the world needed upbeat. My favs from Trench I think are The Hype, My Blood and Neon Gravestones. but I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
I can say that SAI is my least-favorite album, but tbh, it's still better than a significant amount of contemporary music. A "bad" song from twenty-one pilots is still a pretty freaking *good* song!
Morph is fire. It's such a vibe. And the lore goes so deep. During Trench era, we had no idea that "I'm just a ghost, I'll morph to someone else" was about seizing the glorious gone. And TOP fans learned all about Nicholas Bourbaki (talk about a rabbit hole), and now Nicholas Bourbaki comes up again connected to the Dangerous Bend symbol referenced in Overcompensate. I simply can't believe how Tyler's mind works, and to write in so many layers. They keep bringing us new sounds. We can listen on repeat because you don't get bored- It's like they are all your favorite artists in one - oh wait, yes, they are my favorite artist in one.
The tornado’s are crazy this year! I’m glad you’re safe. ..naturally I thought of Tyler and josh and seeing how close they were to them. ..great reaction btw
Great reaction. I remember your first time listening to this band, and now look how far you've come in such a short time! lol Your are truly part of the clique! Keep going, and I will always be back for it!
Everyone “chlorine” …… me MORPH!!! . My favourite from trench. Loved seeing you unable to take the excellence of this song 🤣🤣🤣. We have you now, there’s no going back ever!!
Yes!!! I’ve been waiting for you to get to Morph!! This is one of favorite TOP tracks! It’s perfectly written and brilliantly produced! And as always Josh is 🔥 on the drum kit!! Thank you for this today! Much ❤️
The chorus on this song really came to life for me after Overcompensate dropped and we saw him "morphing into someone else" using the seizing technique.
Yess! I love Morph so much that i even named my girl cat Morph aka Morphies after this song. This song, like We dont believe whats on tv, is a concert favorite❤ You need NEED to go to one of their concerts, if possible, the ones from Columbus OH where they are from. Youre gonna have an amazing time!
They are in no particular order btw. These creators deserve a lot of love for the effort they put in to preparing their videos (JLAnderson, for instance, has been using almost every pause he has in his job to talk about new information).
In the live shows the last part is meant for Josh to show off his skills. Often on a board on people. Tyler Joseph is the main producer, Josh finishes the drums, Paul Meany (Mutemath) has been the co-producer since Trench. Occasionally Tyler sends a song to outside co-producer.
This is the first time Tyler introduced Nicholas Bourbaki as the full name of Nico In real life Nicholas Bourbaki was a group of mathematicians in Europe like 80 years ago who developed the empty set which is the O with the circle through it they top uses in the styling of their name - the group also in real life developed the Dangerous Bend Symbol that is in the hook for Overcompensate
oh I know you reacted to the The Hype already but it would be cool if you reacted to the Berlin session for it where Tyler re-creates it with some new beats. It's a cool video of him working through that process and think you'll really enjoy it!
Tornado? You alright man? I live in Dayton, Ohio- A tornado touched down a couple days ago, and from what I hear- 3 people lost their lives. Stay safe man.
This is one of my favorites from them. This album is special to me because it's the one we're I was able to see them in a concert. The part where it says Josh Dunn was amazing live. Anyways great reaction as always🔥🔥
They played it up on the Icy Tour a few summers ago too! Josh still had his mask on after the opening Good Day/No Chances start, then Morph was the 3rd song of the set, with Tyler removing the mask from Josh right when his name came up, then he slammed the drum fills to close out the song.
Dude, when you get to Bandito you have to do a live version after the lyric version. I don't know what it was but being there live with Tyler looking right toward me, doing his dances, him and Josh at the B stage was just a spiritual/magical experience. Watching live video of that song being preformed just brings me back to the concert.
I just recently discovered you and have yet to dive for real into your reactions. I have not been in a lyrics mood recently, so I have only watched your reactions to the live performances. I really like what I have seen from you so far, thoughtful/smart and you appear very genuine. I have definitely put you on my Twenty One Pilot list for later watch, so please keep doing this! I would love to binge-watch at a later date.
Im gonna stop here and say that this song and especially Josh’s drum solo is INCREDIBLE live! You should check more of their live performances, it would be great
I hope you put aside money for concert tickets. And we need You're concert experience reaction. I'm gonna try and go to a Columbus show-it might be impossible to travel there, with work getting in the way, but i gotta try and make it work.
🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥 I've been listening to overcompensate like 20 times a day since it dropped. And another 10 reactors hearing it for the first time also. And yeah bro, they just don't miss. Ever. It's insane. It shouldn't be possible. But... it totally is.
2- @JLAndersonMusic (although he mostly has been focusing on tøp in the past year, he also does reacts to other artists, covers, guitar lessons and other music related topics.)
U still haven’t done The Hype Berlin sessions! Ik we all told u already when u reacted to The Hype that he reimagined it…it’s so cool & id be interested to see which one u like better
