What up Fable Squad! Twenty One Pilots - Morph REACTION Fable Instagram: @fablefil INSTAGRAM VIDEO LINK: / b-cavkyhply #TwentyOnePilots #Morph #FableReactions
Trench is the most complete album of any artist I've ever experienced. AJ, another youtuber on here has a great all album reaction and says the same, additionally she does an album of the year review and has it at number 1. Cut my lip is an underrated song, bandito, pet cheetah amazing. Leave the city gets me every fucking time too. I'm not part of the clique but when he says I'm a lion, we are his pride, that makes me feel so connected to so many. Seeing them in Portland in Nov was the best first concert experience I've ever had. Shared it with my son. And I'm 40! First actual artist I've wanted to see live. Have an amazing journey Fable! Be glad you didn't have to suffer through the year long silence. Ha, suffer in silence.. have a great quarantine day everyone!
Thanks so much man... I really appreciate that man! ☺️❤️🙏 I cannot wait to see them live... this is the first time I so badly want to watch a band live! They are epic! This journey is amazing ... and I will continue it ..... with you guys ☺️❤️🙏
fun fact: Tyler produced all of Trench by himself (and the singer of MuteMath) in his basement. he got a studio built there to write and record whenever he wants
Glad you’re enjoying TØP. The day break is going to be hard though with these guys, their music is so great. Another fun fact is that when Tyler mentions Nicolas Bourbaki, he is not only mentioning Nico (as he says it like 5 seconds later in the song) but he is also referencing the Nicolas Bourbaki group (it was a collective name) which was a group of French mathematicians that established the symbol: Ø, which is a symbol to represent an empty set/ zero. The symbol Ø being in their logo. I believe this was the inspiration for Nico and why it’s a group of bishops and not just 1 bishop.
Rest up my guy. You have just begun the ride that is twenty one pilots. Just a heads up once you have the addiction it cannot be broken. I say again welcome to the family.
in this song tyler is talking a lot about death. "above" death is "blind belief," choosing faith, believing in going to heaven. "under is sword to sleeve," or suicide. and "around is scientific miracle, lets pick 'above' and see," let's pick faith and see if it's true. if you read all of the lyrics with that in mind you'll catch on to even more. you got it about nico being nicolas bourbaki, which was actually a group of mathematicians that created the idea of whats called an empty set, the symbol ∅ which you may have noticed is in their logo. i saw an empty set described somewhere as "an example of where nothing can become something," which i really liked and i think fits into tyler's message and mindset surrounding his music. the one other fun little thing in this song that you missed is at the very end it says "not done, not done, not done, josh dun." this is both a fun callback to another one of their songs from the blurryface album, the judge, where in the background vocals tyler yells "josh dun" instead of "the jduge" at one moment because josh was there when he recorded it and they decided to keep it in, but also in their live performance of morph josh has a cool drum solo right after "josh dun." another great reaction!!! i fully relate to you saying you have a "twenty one pilots problem," we all do!!!! it's a great problem to have :)
damn i remember when trench came out, i was home alone, it was like 2 a.m., i kept refreshing spotify and when it finally appeared i saw that the 3rd track (morph) was the first new song on the album, (jumpsuit n levitate i've already heard) so i clicked on it and literally started crying 2 seconds into the song, then proceeded to cry through the rest of the album lol
“Can’t stop thinking about if and when I die” -thinking about death “‘If’ and ‘when’ are truly different cries”- “if I die” is panic-inducing, “when I die” is acceptance of inevitable death and sorrow for it “One invades day, while the other spies tomorrow”- “if” relates to fear of death today, “when” is worry about death later “We’re surrounded and we’re hounded, there’s no above or under or around it” - death is all around us, unavoidable “Above is blind belief, under is sword-to-sleeve, around is scientific miracle” Conflicted about what happens when we die: above=blind belief (faith) in God/the unseen, under=in the grave, nothing else, around=hope in scientific miracles and breakthroughs to delay/prevent death. “Let’s pick above and see”- let’s choose to believe in the above, let’s give faith a chance. “If and when we go above, the question still remains: are we still in love and is it possible we feel the same?” - I take this to mean that he wants to know if he will still be the same person in the afterlife if there is, in fact, life above. And if so, will his loved ones be there too, perhaps specifically his wife, hence the “are we still in love” “That’s when going under starts to take my wonder” - if they aren’t there with him and he isn’t himself, perhaps going under is better after all. Second-guessing himself.
I don’t mind the pauses, I love a solid and thoughtful breakdown. I don’t care for videos where the reactor only watches it and doesn’t give any insight.
See you in 24 hours then. (if that's how long you can stay without TOP, just joking). LOL. BTW, in the live concerts they use the part "Josh Dun, not done" to show off his drumming skills. And no, it's not annoying, you need to hear what is said. I don't mind rewinding a bit back. It's nice to hear your thoughts about the TOP songs.
I saw an interview with Josh Dun (drummer) and he was asked (not being the song writer) which TOP lyric(s) would he have tattooed on his body if he had to. He thought for moment and said "Probably "Josh Dun." It is said in two different songs." (referring to The Judge and Morph.) These guys are always quick with their wit in interviews!
i love to watch your reactions, they really light up my quarantine days (also english is not my first language so it’s nice and funny to see you confused trying to understanding the lyrics because #SAME haha).
He's contemplating life and death and having an existential crisis. "If I die" is "purely panic" vs. "when I die" is inevitable sorrow. Because death is a part of living. No escaping it. We can try to go above death (faith), or below (nihilism), or around it (scientifically impossible).
Of course you can interpret it the way you want, but I love these lyrics so much that I really want to tell you what I think the true meaning of this song is (this isn't my theory, this is just the explanation most of the fanbase believes is): It's about death, and what comes after. "If I die" and "when I die" are different cries. The first one invades his mind today, while the other spies tomorrow. Then you hear him talking about going above, under or around it. Going above is "blind belief" - Religion Going under is sword to sleeve - Suicide Going around it is scientific miracle - Avoiding death and living forever (not scientifically possible yet). Then he says "let's pick above" and starts questioning his faith and what happens after death, and these thought are what leads him to wonder about "going under". Enjoy your break!
@@thefablesphere just one more detail. I took this from Genius annotations but it really shows how everything is tied together. Nicolas Bourbaki (I think someone else in the comments has already talked about the group) wrote a book called ''If'' At the end of each chapter, you must make a decision, some seemingly frivolous, some traumatic. These decisions shape your identity as the novel swerves toward twenty-two possible endings. So what will happen next is upon your choice. In this song he chooses “above”.
WAIT! WHAT?! Omigoodness, that is fascinating! I hadn't heard that..o man! I hope so bad that's true! The only possible way that could be better would be if it were 21 possible endings! Thank you for this, regardless, its awesome! I don't think I even care if it's true, because its just so beautiful. Muchlove, suki
Lyric breakdown: Can't stop thinking about IF and WHEN I'd die, For now I see that IF and WHEN are truly different crys, For one is purely panic (if), and one solumn sorrow (when) One invades today (if) while the other spies tomorrow (when.) Talking about the his fear of death
Also, if and when you get to The Hype, definitely do it in tandem with The Hype (Berlin session). With the way you love their instrumentation, getting to see him work will be a true joy for you
Morph is an incredible song. It has so much vocal range and versatility. It is metaphor-rich and evocative. Also, I completely get that you need to rest. Take care!
Much thanks for pumping out the content during a time when we all so desperately need something enjoyable to pass the minutes-hours-days!! Two artists I would love to see your reactions to: 1) Rage Against the Machine (any live videos from 1st album) 2) Janes Addiction (either Ocean Size or 3 Days). Thanks again for your part in helping us all try & maintain some sense of of sanity!!
There’s so much to unpack in this song and it’s so good musically A couple people nailed the above, under, and around (the “around” it would be a scientific miracle like freezing yourself in Austin Powers to escape your problems today and come back at a later time) Also, “Nicolas Bourbaki” is also actually a group of scientists in the early 1900s who tried to prove the existence of God by using math and science - I think people have also made the connection that Nico from Nico and the Niners like you did I think a couple more you definitely have to do: Lane Boy My Blood (Official Video is a great story) Stressed Out The Hype (Music video first, then live session from Berlin - this really shows you Tyler’s talent) Goner (Live from Fox Theater)
Loved your interpretation of this song! To me, the lyrics are talking about believing god and doubting him and wondering if he is still there for me after all the times I didn’t believe in him. There's no "above", or "under", or "around" it, For "above" is blind belief and "under" is sword to sleeve (saying believing in god or heaven is blind belief) And "around" is scientific miracle, let's pick "above" and see (if god doesn’t exist and there’s a way around that then it’s a scientific miracle) For if and when we go "above", the question still remains Are we still in love and is it possible we feel the same? (We/he goes back to trusting god, but doubts if god still loves him after all of these thoughts and doubts) And that's when going "under" starts to take my wonder... Could be wrong and I’m not necessarily religious so my explanation could be off but that’s what I get from those lyrics 😄
Exactly what I wanted to said but I'm too lazy to write it all off haha Thats what song means to me and I think to Tyler aswell, but their songs are up for alot of meanings and suite to whomever how they interpret the lyrics...
Also check out a video called "Twenty One Pilot's Tyler Joseph strips down their hits in this exclusive StoryTellers Performance" its POSTED by ENTERCOM on RU-vid. He literally just sits there on stage remastering some of their songs for a live audience. It is fantastic and super interesting to watch him work. He also does something similar with "The Hype (Berlin)" but not with an audience just in a studio. If you do check out The Hype (Berlin) tho make sure the listen to the original The Hype first so you can see the difference. A lot of their session stuff is pretty great. They are so talented. Love your reactions to these guys. I spend most of my time trying to introduce new music to people and these guys are always on my list.
Loving your reactions and breakdowns...don't worry about pausing, that just means you're trying to really understand the lyrics and not just getting lost in the music ( which is so easy to do). Can't wait to see you react to sessions like The Hype (Berlin session) & and the sessions with MuteMath.
So i read a few comments and I know you got the main info haha, but i wanted to say that I saw a youtuber's theory (i don't remember her channel, sorry) saying that Nicholas Bourbaki/Nico is actually also tøp... Nicholas Bourbaki was a group of French mathematicians but it apparently also was the name of a French general who was responsible for the death of like 60.000 people in a battle if I remember correctly (I'm French and even I didn't know him) and he tried to kill himself to avoid the shame and embarrassment. The thing is we know tøp is named after 'All my Sons' by Arthur Miller in which twenty one pilots died bc of a man who chose to build the planes with uneffective pieces. So, similar situations. I'm saying that cause the line "He goes by Nico, he told me I'm a copy" actually fits that, Tyler and tøp would actually be a copy of Nico because in the end, they made the same mistakes. I don't really know what the message could be here cause Tyler's mind is honestly out of this world but I thought it'd be interesting so... Love the reaction btw!
Thanks so much for this.. this is a great interpretation actually! The great thing about these guys is that you can literally interpret their songs so many different way and it all seems to fit 👀👀👀👀 these are true artists!!! 🤯
I always understood "above" "under" "around" is about death as well? Like, he wonders all the different options how to go through life and how to handle death. Since it is his big fear but also a desire at times cuz of Nico/blurryface. I've noticed he goes through cycles a lot too. He has long dissosiated his problems into a different personality. Idk, I just feel like he is morphing to different people all the time, it is the only way to survive.
Another fantasic reaction man! this one is also amazing live just a heads up! Josh (the drummer) has a special little section that's worth a watch! All their songs live are amazing to be fair though! :D
I found this theory on reddit and it pretty much explains who Nicholas Bourbaki is and how it pertains to Twenty One Pilots: r/twentyonepilots u/_daddylonglegs_1y "Morph" Nicolas Bourbaki Topology Theory Discussion After finding out that Nico is short for Nicolas Bourbaki from the song "Morph", I did some research on Nicolas Bourbaki. It is a pseudonym for a group of eight or nine mainly French mathematicians who aimed to reformulate mathematics to be much more abstract. After digging more into some of their work, I noticed they had a axiomatic view on topology. This is where it gets interesting... Topology is defined as "the study of geometric properties and spatial relations unaffected by the continuous change of shape or size of figures." Furthermore, topology is a "branch of mathematics, sometimes referred to as “rubber sheet geometry,” in which two objects are considered equivalent if they can be continuously deformed into one another through such motions in space as bending, twisting, stretching, and shrinking while disallowing tearing apart or gluing together parts. The main topics of interest in topology are the properties that remain unchanged by such continuous deformations." Like I said before, these groups of mathematicians believed topology to be axiomatic; which means "self-evident or unquestionable" Now looking at the song "Morph", Tyler talks about how this Nicolas Bourbaki is trying to stop and mock him. The song talks about morphing into someone else as a defense mechanism. I think the song is about how Tyler knows that changing his personality/beliefs/opinions to avoid conscious conflict or anxiety or to conform to society is harming him and "tearing him apart", but he struggles with it; and this Nicolas Bourbaki "Nico and the Niners" are mocking him with their views on axiomatic topology. They are taunting him; telling him that "properties or objects remain unchanged by continuous deformations" or "Morphing into someone else" They want him to think that him not being himself won't hurt him. Also read something about the ø symbol you see in their name was created by theses men and is what Nicholas Bourbaki used to represent the 'Null set', sometimes described as 'a perfect zero'. There is so much more out there about this stuff and its so interesting to to read and think about. Twenty one pilots is definitely one of my absolute favorite bands. I havent found a song i didn't like. All the stories they tell and metaphors they use are so intriguing.
He's talking about DEATH! Above is blind belief (Heaven), Below is sword to sleeve (Hell), and Around is scientific miracle, let's pick above and see. - About his faith. He's sooooooooo F&*(ing talented!!!
song: “he’ll always try to stop me, that Nicolas Bourbaki” fil: “whose Nicolas Bourbaki??” song: “he goes by nico” fil: “oh i get it !” literally all of the clique when we first heard this song 😂😂
I plan on seeing them in August in Ohio. I'm thinking about buying you a ticket and offering you to come. My husband just doesn't adore them like I do. You get it. The lyrics. The sound. Tyler's genius. I know I would enjoy it even more. I'll keep. You posted. Keep it up. I don't even care what song you do next. I live all your top reactions.
It doesn't have a Michel Jackson feel... it has a 90's Will Smith feel - with a bit of Jazz. I do remember them saying that they said that Will Smith has influenced their music on this record. - I can hear what sounds like the soundtrack to MiB in the background. Best line in this song has to be Defence mechanism mode.
Nicolas Bourbaki, if this is who he is refering to, isn't a person, but a group of mathmaticians....don't know if you knew that or not. i know this was done in april. it's actually a real group and they just happen to be french, as in the song.
I think that with the "above", "under" and "around it" hes thalking about death like he opens with talking about if or when he dies. Hes saying having an above approach to death would be "blind belief" (imo keep on living and following a god even though you dont know he exists), under would be "sword to sleeve" (giving up the fight against your thoughts) and around is scientific miracle because you cannot escape death so hes like lets forget that option. He likes to take the "above" approach but also realises that he questions himself and god too much so he often starts wondering if just giving up could be an option but until he does he tries to carry on by morphing into somebody else. Dont know if that makes sense lol its late and english is not my mother tongue
I know this is an old video, but I was REALLY looking forward to your reaction to Jumpsuit and it appears the link is dead. Any chance this reaction is posted anywhere else or is there a new link??? Thanks, your reactions are actually the best. They’re insightful and deeper than any other reactions I’ve seen. You find meanings no other reactors do. As a musician and an avid fan of ALL music, I didn’t think I could get more excited and worked up about music, but your reactions make that happen. Keep up the amazing work.
Fable 2 Day is the Day .. i have a day off so in gonna check out all your latest reaction video's ✌🏼💯 And ... Mic dropped the video last night ..... Because i love you ❤️ 🙏
He's talking about his faith "Above" (beliaving in God) is blind belief "Under"(atheism) is sword to sleeve "Around"(agnosticism, I guess?) is scientific miracle
Great song, great reaction. With Tyler's child soon to be born, God will give him a new outlook on life like any new parent. The song talks about death and for a lot of people it comes them up at night. So they think what's the use of living? It doesn't have to be like that. The appeal of suicide is strong to people my age and that saddens me immensely. Before you finish reading this, one individual will have ended their life by suicide-because they think they have no other choice. According to the World Health Organization, a massive 800,000 people take their lives every year-one death every 40 seconds. That’s 3,000 a day. For millions who suffer from deep sadness and despair, “EXIT” points to a better way. This compelling movie shines a powerful light in the darkness and offers true hope to those who think they have none. Someone you know may be secretly considering their exit. Watch “EXIT,” and share it with those you love. www.livingwaters.com/movie/exit-the-appeal-of-suicide/
IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, I encourage you to remember four very important things: 1. YOU HAVE WORTH. You are not a cosmic accident; you are not here by chance. The Bible says God formed you in your mother’s womb. You are special, unique, and handcrafted by the Creator; and because of that your life has meaning. No matter where you’ve been, what’s happened, or what you’ve done, nothing can ever erase the incredible value God has placed on you as His creation. 2. YOU ARE LOVED. The Bible says, “God is love.” He not only knows your turmoil and pain, He cares deeply and promises that if you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. You can be adopted into His family as His beloved child. 3. THERE IS HOPE. The Bible tells us that by trusting in Jesus we have a “living hope,” a hope that is an anchor for the soul. If you don’t know God personally, you can, through genuine repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Your sins will be washed away. His Spirit will come to live within you and will never leave you, and you’ll be given a new heart with new desires. The meaning and purpose of your life is to truly love God and walk with Him. You can find healing, forgiveness, and hope in Christ. 4. HELP IS AVAILABLE. Like a mold of the soul, severe depression grows in the cold dampness of isolation. Please, open up and reach out for support. You can: Tell those closest to you. Confide in a parent, relative, friend, or school counselor, or find a respected Christian psychologist. Dragging a heavy load by yourself can be overwhelming, but if you let someone help carry your burden, it becomes far lighter. Call a hotline. You can call the “Suicide Prevention Lifeline” and talk with someone right now. It’s free, confidential, and available 24/7. You can call them at 800-273-8255 or visit them online at SuicidePreventionLifeline.org. Speak with a local pastor. If you don’t attend a Christian church, on this page you will find an icon with the heading “Speak with a Local Pastor”-it will help you find a church in your area. Whatever you do, please, please don’t end your life.
I know this video is from 9 months ago but if you want to see the explanation of the lyrics from another point of view, the pop song professor's videos are really interesting and i really liked his explanation on this song.
I personally think this is one of the hardest song to understand, try to look into the Dema narration if you have time, it really helps but it's a wild ride
I know you have a long list but I think you'd like these: Ghost Love Score by NIghtwish live at Wacken 2013, See You In Hell by AD Infinitum, Human by Skarlett Riot, Masters of Destiny by Delain, Angel by Within Temptation, And Beautiful Delirium by Blackbriar.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but um look up Nicolas Bourbaki, it'll help you tie into what he means 1s and 0s. Top of that You'll understand most of the song in general. Its an amazing song with such a great deeper meaning then what you see on the surface. Literally you'll see the side I see once you do. Enjoy. Also, you should do My Blood. Has a music vid you'd definitely enjoy.
Thanks so much for this ... I am actually doing so much research myself on these boys!!! 😂😂😂 I have a real problem now because I cannot stop 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@thefablesphere I found ya last night! Lol and was like damn. Been in love with the band for 5 years now. Theres so much to them so many great songs. Try to react to his older ones for example Drown by Tyler Joseph. I think you would have a kicker outta that one. Anywho thank you for the heart and the comment really appreciate you reaching out to your fans. Much love, take care, be waiting for your next vid and...wash your hands!!! Lol. Thank you!
XabithWolfX thanks so much man... I’ll defiantly do their old ones for sure.. thanks for this. In fact we just doing them all 😂😂😂 thanks for the love and support man ☺️❤️
This is just my thought, never heard it anywhere, and it may be off, BUT… if you think about it, he’s saying he’ll morph to someone else. Given the fact that their music doesn’t fit into a specific category, each song in itself always morphs?
I would love for you to react to another artist: The Neighbourhood! They have a huge catalogue of songs, To name a few: R.I.P 2 my Youth, #icanteven, Paradise, Float, jealou$y, Afraid, Sweater Weather
Just rewatching your videos again, on a Saturday night..because? Answer: obviously,...Winning..! Someone else probably already told you this, but incidentally, one of the main subjects of study the Nicholas Bourbaki group of mathematicians engaged in was actually something called 'topology', also known as 'isomorphism'. It's this sort of obscure gestalt of concepts that, very simplistically, boils down to the idea that a thing has a shape, & no matter how that thing is manipulated, no matter if that thing is smooshed or pulled apart or inflated or squished inside out & upside down, it will always be shaped like that specific thing & nothing else. So, that makes this song even more poignant. Because no matter how many different ways he tries to alter his innate topology, Tyler will never be able to morph into something unrecognizable to Blurryface; he'll always be a Tyler-shaped thing to the Bishops, & therefore, he'll never be able to escape him or them. Sucky, huh? But I bet we all already knew that. Hope you are well. Wishing you & your new babe & his? mama nothing but love, suki
Now that you're heard it, you've got to see Morph live!!!! Even if you don't react, just watch and enjoy, it's magical! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vJeXoXxztCo.html
@@thefablesphere I just rewatched your reaction I forgot about THIS but of crazy from wikipedia..... "Nicolas Bourbaki is the collective pseudonym of a group of mathematicians, predominantly French alumni of the École normale supérieure (ENS). Founded in 1934-1935, the Bourbaki group originally intended to prepare a new textbook in analysis." They invented using the "Ø" to represent an empty set in mathematics. Yes my mind was blown when I read that the first time. TØP :)
