Just got the UC1 and it’s fantabulous, bundled plug ins are outstanding, all well thought out and so naturally am now looking at this. Agree with comment below 👇 though am a definite Luna user it’s changed everything with no latency. Thanks SSL for raising the bar again x
I can't believe there's 9 buttons that don't do anything. I'll keep an eye out to see how integration improves but it's quite a step away from a UC1. I suppose I understand why SSL have to make it universal. maybe a deal needs to be done with each daw developer.
There probably will be a device released with a master fader and monitor controls. I assume something like that will be out before the end of this year.
The display is the best thing about this device over the Mackie Control itself, but I'm not sold on the ergonomics. The loss of transport control is a glaring omission. Too bad they couldn't figure out how to make the device auto bank with Cubase. Also would have been nice to allow control of the Pre strip. Will continue will my ancient MC.
I am a film composer and just wondering if it can be switched to a mode where I can record automation in sound libraries such as expression dynamics vibrato or to assign different faders to different mic positions?
I would also like to know about midi CC implementation for the faders? Additionally, is there a "spill" function for groups/VCA/folder/etc? I've seen this on other systems and really like the idea. Thanks
I asked the same question on another UF8 video, as well as, SSL’s Facebook page. Solid State Logic responded...”at this time you cannot control midi CC with the faders.” They did mention that they appreciate hearing about what features customers are looking for. I’m hoping that means with an update that perhaps this unit could be used for that very feature. As a media composer I would love to use this for all my Spitfire Audio and OrchestralTools sample libraries...
@@MrJewilli1 just spoke to SSL support earlier today, they're saying MIDI CC is in the works as a 360 layer. Nothing elaborated more than that but it's looking optimistic!
Being SSl I'm sure build quality is great but mackie protocol is limited. I guess with Avid and eucon you have the iPad control for similar cost. Think I'll stick with my Icon qcon G2 for now.
How do you see which fader control which cubase mixer. Is there an auto bank feature ? Can I control the selected channel fader always with the first fader or not ?
Nice video. My main use for this would be to control Arturia Pigments which has A LOT of parameters. I see that we have access to VST Instrument parameters, but don't want to scroll through all pages. Can I define my own pages with specific parameters from the VST Instrument ?
Hi there, thanks for the video.. One question how did you organise/ setup the visibility... I use the uf8 but the visibility doesnt seem to work. Hope you have some tips or tricks for that Thanks again!
Hi if I want to select a plugin from off the UF8 in Cubase, The plugin is disabled. Then I have to choose the plugin in Cubase and it is enabled. If I put on all the tracks the channel strip 2 and I change tracks the channel strip does not follow. Question. Are these bugs ? Can you explain this to me I would be very grateful
tbh its a really nice looking device!! if not the the best looking in that size. but i dont see a timesaver in all those controllers?! i have currently a platform m and i only use it as a midi controller for kontakt which is nice because when you put for example cc01 in the quick controls of cubase then the motorized faders will move exactly like the automation. otherwise for controlling a daw it just kinda feels clumsy. as long as you still need to use the mouse that much (because cubase doesnt follow when you change the track banks) it will make just no sense to me😅😅 in that time i have to press shift and all that stuff i could made the changes in cubase twice by mouse😅😅😅. but thats just my two cents. maybe i just dont get it how to use such a controller right😅😅😅
would I be able to use the faders to control modulation, expression and volume in VST libraries installed on Cubase 10.5 like NI komplete, Hollywood strings & spitfire?
I like the idea of the UF8 but seeing it in action now I’m slightly underwhelmed. Having to go through different banks of buttons or pages makes it less intuitive to use than the mouse. The lack of dedicated transport controls is disappointing. Having to find them through user keys then have them right at the top of the interface is incredibly awkward. For the money, I think I’d lean more towards Avid’s control, as the iPad display makes it much more intuitive at the same price point.
For editing plug-in parameters it's really worth to check out the "focus" mode to use the large encoder on the right to edit the parameter you have your mouse pointer on (10:40).
@@thaexception3406 Avid's Control is an iPad app that can be used in conjunction with Avid Dock and/or Avid S1 interface. But it can also be used entirely as an app for free if you choose to. There's no end of functionality through the app alone, let alone with their consoles, which is highly intuitive and visual. The Dock and S1 are priced similarly to the UF+, the app is free.
Waiiiittt a minute. SSL.... $1300 usd? 🤔🤨 What's the catch? 😆 Also, "one _particular_ peculiarity when working with cubase is..." Yeah... We know😔. There's always something
In this current climate its waaay too expensive.! This definitely doesn't cater to the weekend warrior market. I'll hard pass and hope for something better and more affordable.! I could buy so much good shìt with 2k in Australia..!
