@@cupcakeenjoyer8425there’s good work and bad work. Anyone who isn’t a retard will try to work smarter and not harder. Fighters are not dumb animals that just are there solely for the UFC’s profit and fan’s entertainment. They’re trying to provide for their families while suffering the least damage.
@@omarpip8641That is such a wild over simplification of fighting. Anderson Silva has a particular style like every other elite fighter. He wanted Maia to commit so he could counter punch, and Maia wanted to take him down and submit him with grappling. Dana is out of line here. Anderson Silva signed the contract, made the weight, made the walk, and fought. That’s his job. He did it. Dana White had an amateur background in boxing and has been in the fight business for a long time. He knows better than that. Silva wasn’t in the ring himself there. His opponent has a say in what happens as well. It’s much easier said than done.
I thought that the first two rounds of the fight were good. Silva showed extreme talent, but by round 3 he lost his speed and power from excess movement spent on dodging and clowning around resulting in a five round run around the octagon. I'm just saddened because Silva had great style and amazing striking for the start of the fight...then he just let it go.
@Axel223 you seem to forget that anderson has very good takedown defense. now im not saying hes gonna block every takedown but hed defend long enough hed KO him easy.
Lmao first time I'm seeing a comment reply to someone but thats due to old YT comments and whatnot breaking with new YT, also Jev's a UFC fan so makes sense.
i saw the fight and the problem was the guy he was fighting wasnt on his level, i can imagine the guys purse as well being a complete JOKE, its whites fault for making a awful opponent for silva imo mayweather has had fights where he has completely outclassed his opponent and he has sold like over a million ppv buys doing it, i say again, the problem was the opponent
Machinist That's a ridiculous statement. Demian Maia may have been the underdog, but nobody can say 'he wasn't on his (Silva's) level'. Maia is incredibly skilled and if you noticed even Silva was afraid to go to the ground since he wouldn't play with him when he was on his back. All it would have taken is Maia to get his hands on Silva just one time while they were on the ground and still dry for the outcome to have been different. Many would say Chris Weidman wasn't on Silva's level too and all it took was one punch to the face while Silva's was doing his head bobbing nonsense to make Weidman the champ. The environment was also in Silva's favor. It was outdoors and extremely humid and didn't take very long for them to be soaked and slippery in sweat, which is extremely detrimental to an expert submission fighter like Maia. If fighters only fought other fighters that were considered to be 'on the same level' then there would be no such thing as an underdog and we wouldn't never get to see awesome upsets like GSP vs Serra
Amazing... Anderson showed mercy on this poor kid it was obvious the guy was badly damaged. An infant could see Andy didn't want to end the fellow Brazilian's career.
Greatest middle-weight fighter ever, of that I believe there is little doubt. Despite this he has delivered 3 consecutive snoozefests: #1 Patrick Cote-being extremely passive and looking to counter #2 Thalies Leites-absolute snoozefest #3 Maia-beautiful show of art 1st & 2nd round, the rest was crap..what i found interesting was the continual taunts by silva for maia to engage, but when he did so in desperation in the later rounds Silva just backed off instead of staying in the pocket. Thoughts?
Somehow I could see Silva wasn`t into that fight from the first minute. The guy`s still my favourite fighter but sometimes he just underperforms badly.
This fight was miles better then Isreal vs Romero and Dana did not crucify isreal who literally scared to engage where he most was supposedly strengths lies which was his stand-up, we say isreal run away fearing behind the ref at times in the fight yet they blamed the lack of action on challenger
I saw UFC 112 last weekend for the first time, and it Silva cracked me up, with his fancy dance moves, i mean this was almost like the Movie "Monkey Kung Fu".. LOL!
Low kicks , spin kicks , knees kicks take down defense ... I mean did u watch the full fight ? 😂😂😂 silva was just playing Damian’s mind . Because Demian said before the fight that he would win by submission easily and put Anderson to sleep , well we saw what happen
Im from the future and there are a couple of title fights that are actually boring and makes this fight look crazy exciting and dana has nothing to say on these fights...hes a hypocrite
didnt know what all this fuzz was about so i decided to watch the fight. Damn Silva... what are u doing. All Dana wants is for his fighters to fucking fight, at least have the audacity to perform, considering this is their living.
Anderson Silva has the right to preform like this. He's dominating his division and got no real threat to his title. Unless Dana starts bringing in (even more) talent, Silva can continue to preform like he did in that match. I, as a pretty new fan of MMA, do not feel disrespected by his actions, instead, I have become an even bigger fan of the sport.
I kinda agree, i mean no one can deny that Anderson could have destroyed this guy in the first round, but for some reason he chose not to.... Silva doesn't have to prove anything to anyone anymore, but it would be nice for him to give fans what they want, since he can easily do it.
Remember when the UFC didn't have rules or weight classes? A one-night openweight tournament, vintage-style. That's what Dana does to punish Silva. Let him prove himself against the best fighters in other weight classes.
@sinhaserpente: Also, he got his belt ("He" as in Silva) when he was just 18 years old. Also, he has a black belt in: Tae Kwon Do, Judo, and BJJ. He also has a yellow belt in Capoeira. Although I didn't really need to tell you that.
The boring comes out of maia He is the most boring fighter of all times It seems that when Dana White starts to have someone under his skin he just puts maia to fight him He did the same to tyron woodley
@SeanSean128 Agree, pit him against GSP and make it worth watching Silva... this last "performance" wasn't a fight. Partly, I think, because both fighters were not interested in the action, and Silva was trying to avoid an injury, for future potential fights.
@crazykorean2268 Yeah Idk what was up with Silva in this one. Hes so respecful and humble and this fight his ego was sky rocketed. I hope he goes back to normal and gives the fans some type of apology for his actions.
I'd like to watch Silva vs Belfort push through first before we go to GSP-Silva. Silva was being cocky/disrespectful but he didn't finish off Maia. I think it was weird..like he's suddenly mentally not in the game.
@rickbanks03 Just because a fights are exciting and he doesn't dance and put on a novela, doesnt mean his fights suck, it means that he's a great wrestler that no one can stop.
lets be real here. as disappointed as dana is, and believe me he should be, setting up two fighters like gsp vs silva is like setting up pacquiao vs mayweather. it's bound to be one of the biggest events of all time and the fight will be set up sometime in the near future.
Anderson Silva defending his title sixth consecutive times and being undefeated in the UFC is just an amazing feat whether you like it or not. If Anderson Silva is able to fuck around the whole 5 rounds against one of the best Damian Maia, it shows you how scary Silva is and that he is on completely different level. Personally, I see no one even being close to beating Silva at middleweight.
Dana is more about the business than the art form and the skill of the fighters. Many Professional fighters throughout history showboated. If you watch some of the best boxers of all time, they would show boat and taunt their opponents. Watch Sugar ray Leonard fights, Muhammed Ali in the ring, and many others. At one time or another almost every fighter show boated or taunted their opponent, in or out of the ring, it can be a strategy and also good entertainment. It was working for him. HE WON!
Googlevideo and you'll find it. It was amazing the first 2 rounds, seemed like a practice with a kid. But the more it went, the more he just avoided Maia (who was pratically beaten up and had a swollen eye by this moment)
Undeniably it was helluva show but only until the mid of 3rd round. I don't know what happened to the respectful guy that faced Franklin twice. I would guess that his behavior is due to some unspoken of frictions with Dana and maybe Silvas wishes of whom to fight.
thats why i cant wait for july 7th. Sonnen is the only person in the UFC not afraid to fight him and actually go at him. and i hope Sonnen pounds him like he did in the first fight.
@PierceScott i know... im very disappointed in anderson silva. i look up to this guy so much. i lost all the respect for him now... now GSP is my #1 fighter, humble, great, and i know GSP doesnt do that boring shit! im so mad!
@ButterTheKing ok...lol... u got me there... but with the exception of him.. Which he was supposed to fight him until Belfort pulled out... I personally would love to see either Silva vs. Gsp or SIlva vs. Machida
I wanna see Silva v. Toney. Toney will stand with him. May have some trouble dealing with his Muy Thai though. If Toney gets inside though, it's "lights out" for Silva.
That was some serious crazy in 4th/5th round, but i really don't think Dana or anyone else has the right tell fighters how they should or shouldn't fight his/her opponents. Easiest solution is to give silva a competitive opponent...
what Anderson did was completely unproffesional. I think he got his punishment in terms of fans booing and not recieving the belt in the way he should. We all make mmistakes. He learnt his lesson and aplogized after the game. Just let it go Dana.
I disagree. What he is basically saying "we want good entertainers, not good fighters". Show > performance - It has always been like this in the entertainment industry.
i love to look at this video when ever people hype anderson silva as the GOAT:) This disasterous fight happened no matter what the UFC says about Silva:)
@chain8899 remember that this is not only a sport is also a spectacle and the reason why you watch is for the spectacular knock outs and amazing kicks out of this world submissions and prefight taunting s etc and that and more is what we get out of fighters like silva, wanderlei bj penn jason miller ..etc and if you don`t like it there is always bjj, greco judo etc ..competition who they do act like traditional martial artist in a safe predictable environment
@residualrevenge I dont think you understand. Silva felt disrespected and felt like he should humiliate this guy and he did. Maya did nat land a single puch and left with a busted face. I assure you that Silva would never this to GSP, because he respects GSP because GSP respects fighters..it also seem s that Silva is bored of the opponents they are putting him with
Ppl miss the point of Silva. Yes he's a lil cocky and yes he could probably end fools quick. But to be throwing knees and kicks every sec isn't his style. He waits and waits for that one unguarded moment and knocks you out. And he's the champ, he doesn't need to beat them. They need to beat him. Remember that
The sad part is Silva ( besides gsp ) is the "p4p" fighter i thought not to be overrated until this.. he has talent but immaturity for days, he's 34 acting like that ridiculous...
Although i don't agree with what Silva was doing during the fight, i found it quite funny. Demian Maia did nothing at all during this whole entire fight except for getting his face busted open. Giving Maia this title fight was dumb and Silva knew it and thats why he played games with him.
One of the selling points of MMA is the respect and honor that the fighters give each other. I was once an Anderson Silva fan, obviously I am not anymore. This type of lazy fighting is getting old and becoming a trend from Silva. I hope he does not turn MMA into a professional wrestling type venue. Hell, Brock Lesnar is levels above Silva anymore on the pure warrior aspect. At least he comes to fight. (Never thought I would say that).
Dana is a control freak. Anderson needs to be a free agent; fighting whomever challenges him. MMA needs to become promoted like boxing. Having these organizations that own fighters for years needs to end. That will make the sport evolve REAL QUICK.
Dana white never escapes an opportunity to make an issue about him. Personally, who gives a shit if Dana was embarrassed??? Once again the UFC put an apponent in front of Anderson Silva that they knew would not stand with him and expected the fight of the year. Did they honestly not learn anything from Silva vs Thales Leites?
Like Dana White didn't see this coming lol. I knew Maia didn't stand a chance against Silva. What does it tell you when Silva is fighting Maia with his hands down the whole fight? I really don't even think Silva needed to train to fight Maia. Silva only fights seriously when you put a serious threat in front of him. Dana is just as responsible for not putting on guys that can challenge Silva.
My personal opinion, Silva was leagues ahead of everyone at his prime. To go into a championshionship fight, being underpaid, and having no challenge at all from your opponent, who is supposed to be among the best, is a complete insult to his skill and career. Multiple fighters have had issues with Dana White under paying, not getting them the contracted x number of fights a year, and even manipulating their careers in such a way that they dont get the fights they want, they get low payinf fights, or no fights at all, simply to do what dana white wants for money, is wrong. Example, Silva, Diaz, and even Mcgregor. Silve proved a point with this fight and struck at Dana where it hurts
id still like to see him fight gsp. Silva vs gsp would probably be one of the biggest pay per views ever. You have gsp one of the pound for pound best in the sport (the good guy) and Silva another pound for pound best guy (the bad guy). It has the makings of another Foreman Ali rumble in the jungle.
Anderson doesn't deserve to fight GSP. GSP is such a classy guy, such a great fighter, and while Anderson probably would beat him, you have to earn the right to fight a guy like GSP, and Anderson has pushed himself OUT of that position with the stupid stuff that he's done. It's not just the fight with Maia, he's done this shit before. And if he's bored, then give him a real challenge, give him Brock in a catch-weight fight. That'll wake his ass up.
I will never understand why Dana got so mad with this fight. Anderson won fair and square amd gave Damian a nice beating in at least the first 3 rounds. Damian's game was all about bringin Anderson down, when he saw he couldn'y do it he just laid in the floor hoping Anderson would fell into the trap- that's the only ridiculous part of this fight. Anderson tauting him is just showmanship. Damian waked up only the fifth round and really try to go all in so he deserve some recogntion for that.
this silva vs mai fight (which i think silva fought smart and should continue playing with his fighters until dana finds someone to actually fight him instead of
1 - Anderson Silva, just apologize in the end of the fight because he realized the crownd was booing. 2 - While he was punishing Maia in the frist, second and third round, the same crowd was in his side. 3 - He is the champion and he wants to keep the belt for a long time, so why he have to expose himself, if he knows he already won the fight? 4 - Probably Dana is disappointed because he have lost some money betting in a Anderson KO.
silva was tired from clowning so much. he couldve finished him early but he didnt realise he hadnt been in the octagon for a while and couldnt perform as well in the end, thats why he stopped clowning because he was tired but i do agree that he shoulve finished it when he couldve. I wanted to see him and GSP but now he gives Dana another excuse not to make that fight.
i don't think GSP would beat Silva, the only chance he'd have would be to take him down and lay on him & I just don't see him being able to take Silva down without getting caught with strikes.
Dana White, full of complaints about Silva in this fight, I seriously don't understand the reason for Dana's complaints, the fight was all within the rules, it was a show and that's it. If there was a mistake, maybe it started way back when someone decided that the two would have to fight and we know who these people were and they were neither Demiam nor Spider. Just a question, does anyone remember what the betting shops were like at the time?
