Nah I don't get the hate, I feel people are like betas hating on him cuz it's the most common thing to do in the comment sections like beta NOBODIES. Yet mma legends like silva and machida all talk good of him and say he trained them and celebrated with him. So ya who will I believe a bunch of beta nobodies like u or the legit fighters and what they say. why r u betas so easily triggered by this this doesn't phase me at all lol.
@@chrishey9879 i'll make fun of Seagal's movies just as much as the next guy but you're right. He definitely knows a thing or two about martial arts and the constant shitting and poking fun at him gets old.The movies though, they're bad.... lol.

@BMF The kick Lyoto performs in the clip of the fight (at the end of Steven's "training session,") is an adaptation of a standard nidan geri kick from karate (he reduces the air time to speed the technique up). Lyoto trained karate from the age of 3 and was a black belt by his teens. He continued training karate before entering MMA and used it in part as his base for MMA. To imagine he didn't know how to perform this kick (usually a 6th or 5th kyu or green belt technique) is beyond ridiculous. In addition, Steven's "training session" consists of him telling Lyoto to cover a large distance in one of the worst ways possible (by running like a weird child) and follow up with a completely different kick (mae geri). Steven specifically tells him, "you don't have to jump," (denying a component of the nidan geri kick that actually gets used) then performs a mae geri kick to demonstrate, Lyoto then performs the mae geri and Steven says, "don't stop, perfect," commending the use of mae geri - not the nidan geri which is used in the fight. It's worth noting, several things: (a) both kicks are moves Lyoto clearly already knows from his background (b) the kick Steven is "teaching" (mae geri) is not what is used in the clip (nidan geri), (c) the nidan geri is delivered from relatively close range with no run up as suggested by Steven. This is just proof that Lyoto is a nice enough guy to humour a fool who wants to feel important.
globtrottr Lol I'm trained by Machida himself, he taught us that kick first week...I perfected that kick in 2 days, its a basic white belt move lol. Seagal is just a lying piece of garbo
They worked so hard on that kick. They kicked speeding cars, bar doors, a plasma TV, two black cats and some old grandmas. A kick is hard to perform. It takes years of intense training to manage a kick

I love how good he was with his wife and son. I guess it’s a question of whether or not those fighters were doing those same kicks before Steven Seagal coached them, but front kicks are known to be effective against Muay Thai fighters.
He's a true master. You heard what he said folks. He careless about everyone's opinion about thinking of him as an idiot. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. He's going to continue doing what he loves until he can't anymore or until death
He's basically saying at 3:16 he teaches techniques "to hurt people" (that's not what aikido is all about), and at 3:52 is saying he's been "doing martial arts since he was a baby"? WTF :|
Ariel could barely keep from laughing right from the start. Seagal calls him Machida-kun and actually said “thank you” after Ariel talked about machidas KO. Stunning how delusional this man is.
@jdavidcc7 like he said, he makes modifications to pre-existing moves. And aikido has specific ways of moving in/out, and they throw strikes with more of a whipping motion than a stiff motion. There's videos of him teaching Anderson and Lyoto how to modify their striking and movement... dunno, maybe being odd is an edge in a sport where a lot of the competitors have the same training/upbringing and all know the same moves.
@granfanucci Machina-Kun, Kun is a Japanese way of giving respect, like saying -Sensei to your teacher, --Senpai someone superior to you at something you both do, Sama to someone who is godlike (like the emperor) or Kun to someone how is of equal stature to yourself.
You honestly believe that an akikido "master" (no punching and kicking technique btw) taught a master karate fighter (full of kicks) and a muay thai master (full of of kicks) a basic front kick?
@piratebri I think Anderson, Bones Jones and Faber have big advantages because they all do things that noone else ever does. Bones jumped backwards over Bader after giving his back up - who drills that? Fabers was the first to throw a knee with his standing leg while his opponent holds his other leg for a takedown attempt.
The first 20 seconds was enough for me, Thank-you? as if he was the one who performed the kick, What a tool, It's pretty obvious that he lives vicariously through Silva, Machida and every other Mma fighters name he drops
Great and funny interview got to love and respect steven seagal! That Machida kick was crazy. I like Ariel also says goodnight to the family, lol and interact with the whole phone convo!
Segal makes a good point. Criticising him (or any trainer) because they didn't invent a particular technique is beside the point... Segal didn't invent the front kick Freddie Roach didn't invent the punch
Ariel is just making a complete ads Steven and Steven can't see it. I can't believe this guy is so into himself that he can't see that he's being made to look like a complete douche bag.
IMO this was probably one of those situations where Anderson Silva and Steven Segal were in the same gym, and while Anderson was training he let Segal show him a move. Now Silva being the humble, likeable, and charismatic guy that he is I'm sure followed along out of respect. The main issue that had a lot of people questioning Segal's legitimacy on supposedly teaching Anderson Silva that kick is the fact that the move was nothing more than a front kick thrown from the southpaw position. Therefore yes Steven Segal may have technically shown Anderson Silva that move in person, but because the front kick is such a basic move, it's safe to assume that Silva already learned it way before Segal suggested it to him...
Years ago we had a pet donkey and I worked with him intensively on 'the' kick. Then one day I saw him break my mothers nose with 'that' kick, I was so proud.
@gder01 Machida-Kun its a Japanese way of talking about someone with respect. Not sure about the Wos bit, must be something to do with a fight style or stance - anyone?
"Am I the inventor of kicks and punches, and anyone done kicks like that? Of course." Lol at 3:25 when he tries to play it down but it's like he can't control his own ego and ends up saying that he DID invent kicks and punches.
Just let Master Steven be happy in life. He’s been doing martial arts sense he was a fetus in his mothers belly. He’s a “GOD” in his own mind. I wish I could learn his deadly stuff.
o estiven seagal pega os melhores lutadores do brasil e aproveita suas tecnicas para se promover no ufc , ele quer gloria dos homens é assim né.... fazer oque ele ajuda em sua promoção...
@ALTF4me Machida used a similar kick to beat Rich Franklin in 2003, now Machida and his Father Yoshizo Machida taught him said kick. It's used often in Karate. Used in Shotokan and also Kyokushin
@xBXRxAaron There's plenty of footage of Seagal helping lock down the techniques with Anderson and Machida. It was a karate technique but the fine tuning was pushed along with Steven Seagal. Steven Seagal has been legit Aikido for a LONG time :D
Seagal has worked on over a dozen moves with Lyoto and Anderson. He said in the training video before Anderson's front kick, "So many legal moves you guys dont use". One of those moves is the front kick! Now everyone is using it. Seagal is just adding tools to MMAAthletes and I look forward to seeing more of his moves in play.
@@jackmaclean984 I have a good move i'm teaching my students.. Sticking my fingers up my ass before heading out to cage then i will clinch and rub it all over his face
In silvas kick you could see the sheer power he transmitted through his leg to hit him. Segal even said he knocked people out with bodyshots... (technical of course)
Great interview, only wish you asked him if he plans to continue training with Anderson/Lyoto in the future, or if he plans to open a gym of his own maybe to train some other up and coming fighters? It seems like his training has paid off for guys like Anderson and Lyoto, maybe he has a future in MMA! :)
just admit it its fucking strange that both lyotoo and machida knock soomone oout with a front kick after training with steven, there has been nearly 0 front kick kos since mma started it.... this is moroe than a coincidence...he didnt say he invented it.
