@@user-xf3ch1fu2i the F-35 isn’t stealth, everyone thinks it is, but it isn’t. It can be engaged from max range by literally all 4th gen fighters, and get picked off at distance by SAMs of all types. Try one of each stealth plane into enemy airspace simultaneously and see what happens once they get into the engagement zone.

Well they loaded up external weapons on the f35. You don't get stealth AND external weapons pods. You get stealth only if you use the internal weapons bay.

The F-35's without the huge drop tank might be stealthy, but I can't imagine the plane retains much of their stealth characteristics with a non-stealth, huge fuel tank. Of course none of that matters if the British insist on shooting each other down. J

Agreed, though it had been on the decline since way before then. The HMS Dreadnought was both inevitable and a huge mistake. In one swift strike, it made its own navy obsolete (albeit along with all the others), and the British navy never fully recovered.

Stealth didn’t work cause they broke the stealthy lines of the f35 by mounting external munitions instead of limiting to just internal storage, that’s the problem wit multi role stealth aircraft to use its full potential u compromise the stealthy abilities of the airframe

In red storm rising, The carriers were attacked with a diversionary group of tu-16 badgers. They launched kelt missiles from beyond radar range of the E2C with a radar augmenter to simulate the backfire bombers. They had the backfire bombers sweep around at an of axis attack with air to ship missiles. They had tu-95 bear reconnaissance aircraft guiding the groups. Heck you could even throw in some fighters to keep the carrier aircraft busy

F35 doesn't take off vertically, in a scramble the f35s will line up 1 after another, external weapons diminishes stealth, they use the aim-120D and aim-132 asraam not aim-120C with sidewinder, type 45 destroyers use 48 aster 30 or aster 15 missiles, a meko frigate would be a better analogue for the type 23, arleigh Burke has 96 missiles. This needs a rematch.

The carrier that's being used in this scenario is the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71. I served on her my last couple years in the Navy.

Idea: British CSG21 Carrier group VS German/Axis Warbirds. Similar to The Final Countdown, but its the tea drinkers who have been sent back in time to the English channel, and the German air force (plus some japanese aircraft) tries to destroy it? Also the random invisible F-18 who flew straight through a withering hail of SM-2s and CWIS, got bored, turned around, and flew home was hilarious XD

Just saw on Thefacebookmachine, the USS Constitution page posted that the ship has been declared the "deadliest" ship in naval warfare....So, now you have to do USS Constitution vs US Carrier Group....And then all 6 US Frigates vs US Carrier group. It'll be fun to see Harpoons bouncing off Ironsides. Huzzah!

The principal role of the carrier and its air wing within the carrier strike group is to provide the primary offensive firepower, while the other ships provide defense and support. These roles are not exclusive, however. Does anyone else make software to simulate this stuff? All the errors, planes & missiles doing strange things etc, really kills some of the fun. You set up a really interesting scenario and quite a lot of the time you know the outcome would have been different if everything had halfway worked.

Stealth isn’t like an invisibility cloak. It’s about reducing the range that planes can be seen at. At the ranges these battles take place at, it’s gonna be largely useless

"The stealth isn't working" ....Hmmm, perhaps all the dangling bits (external stores) could make them visible and they can be stealthy only when "clean"? 😅😅 Not sure if it's modelled that way in DCS tho... At least in real life the F-35's use some tiny bumps attached to it so mask the stealth characteristics from unfriendly nations during peacetime, so it wouldn't seem unreasonable that the much larger external missiles could work in same way and not much work for aegis to see them as it's meant to track them 🤔

the hornets were baiting fire attempting to gain a mission kill against the british. some very patriotically(suicidally) gave up their aircraft, but they also did dodge like 5 missiles for ever missile hit

Apparently QE can carry Euro-Fighters as well as F35's. Can we try the UK carrier with different Fighters and helicopters onboard? You should not use the Arlee berk. Use 3 Type 45 screening towards the enemy. one type 23, and then two other frigates (we have a type 31 being built). Put in support ships roughly 3 (RFA Argus for example carries 8 Helicopters).

Good guys v Good guys. We can't lose!! Actually, the U.S. aircraft manufacturers are the big winners here. Bogs v Lightenings. $$$$ Of course, if you are using U.S. iron against the U.S. we only have to push a button and you shoot down your own aircraft.

Because this would really end up being a fight where A/C are doing most all of the offensive shooting while the Aegis/Type 45s would be defending against ASCMs a good number of the 35s and 18s should be swingloaded with AAW and ASUW weapons.

The f35s stealth should be ruined by carrying external weapons. It will still have a lower RCS than the hornet but it will be able to be seen by any radar

Putting stores on pylons of the F-35 is not what you do until you have achieved total air supremacy.... Might as well put a shoot me down neon sign on the side of the airframe. I don't recall, but are those f-18C or f-18E. If you are using F-35s it should be the super hornet... Would like to see a mixed load out of super hornets and lightnings for the carrier air wing. DCS must be frustrating to use. Still looks like fun. :-)

Are there Iowa class battleships and if so can you do an Iowa class super battleship fleet vs a Russian/Chinese carrier fleet (or US carrier fleet if need be). Add a couple Essex class carries and warbirds for fun if you want.

I haven't seen the 'simulation' yet but surely the US starts with a huge advantage in support ships - 2 Ticonderoga cruisers and 4 destroyers vs 3 destroyers (only 2 are Type 45s) and 3 Frigates (Air defence useless for this sim).
