+RezoneGAMES He's the only video game reviewer I trust. He has a good knowledge of how a good game plays out and doesn't stick to one genre but rather just wants to play good games.
I think I know how to make a 5/5 game now. You play as a grapple hook that is just coming to terms with it's powers. It also has a partner that is a gruff experienced father figure grapple hook. Maybe throw a love interest in there that is a ledge or a pole so you have to over come the stigma of being so different. They replace all quick time events with levels of glover and the cut scenes are graphically updated levels of Super Mario 2.
"Put a goddamn grappling hook in every game from now on." Since then, we've had Just Cause 4, Sekiro, Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, Far Cry Primal, and Spider-Man (it counts). The man was right.
makes me sad that u give it another point when they need DLC to complete your gaming experience...if a game cant fulfill that whole without dlcs its not worth buying them (my opinion)!
+ttsooker1 As a matter of a fact, the goal of DLCs is to give you more of what they already gave you, is to justify your own gluttony for content of the things you loved, Blizzard did this in the late 90's and the early 2000 with Diablo and Warcraft 3, that's the point DLC having games have missed on this age and Naughty Dog is trying to get it back with Left Behind and possibly the next chapter of Uncharted
+Tales Of Taylor Zac, one of these days, you're gonna be eating honey oat cheerios with Dr. Dre on your private yacht, and you're gonna look down on your rolex and go "Dunkey was right my man, Dunkey was right."
I like Uncharted, but the games are always too safe. The third game has a really bad fake out where it makes you think Sully dies... but it's just a drug trip and he's suddenly fine. That's why I love the Last of Us series so much -- it takes the chances that Uncharted never took and it's so much more impactful narratively.
@@bizmonkey007 just played it for the first time this week, I really loved it, I liked all uncharteds tho, I’m a casual gamer, so maybe the game is perfect for me who can’t play to the level of most multiplayer games.
great video leafy as usual, you're my favorite youtuber and the only reason why i havent kill myself yet is because your content is the only thing worth living for at this point, i have watched your minecraft letsplays over 500 times now, anyways keep up the good work, i love you pewdiepie
Dunkeroni, I love all your content man, but I especially love that your Dunkviews are simultaneously legitimate criticisms of games while also being funny as Hell. I love you, man. Don't ever change. Unless it is to replace your left arm with a grapple hook. Then you can change.
Dunkey: "3/5 because the characters don't face any legitimate consequences for their actions and get a resolution without any repercussions. " Neil Druckmann: "So you want consequences, huh?" (begins rewriting LoU2) (Edit: i do actually like the game so far, but i defs was against it in those first 6 hours)
@@Jesteban-fu8qy if you're saying he got paid fuck no it seems like every single time someone reviews that game on a positive note people start saying how they got paid by sony
SiliPiano tell Reo Foxx you mean that they started on U4 earlier than tomb raider. I'm not sure who ripped off who but I know I soared all over Gotham in Arkham Knight with a grapple hook. Of course, that was a batgadget, so that was different, right? Also, I think the original grapple hook was Bionic Commando on Nintendo back in like 1990 or something.
If you get this game, play through it on normal. I just finished it on crushing and it was meh. You spend most of your time in cover, and if you try to do anything interesting you'll just die. Which means no mudslides, no Tarzan rope swinging, and no hand-to-hand combat during shoot-outs. This game wasn't made to be played like that and it really shows. Lower difficulties will give you more freedom, more mechanics, and more options.
This is only really true near the end of the game where they really ramp up the difficulty to the extreme. The first 2/3rds of the game on crushing are a great experience.
You expected any different from a game that has regenerative health like call of duty? Call of duty sucks exactly because of that. And that is precisely also the reason I prefer TLOU's health system.
Mr Star Oml. I rage quit playing on crushing when I got to Libertalia 😂 specifically the part where you have the machine gunner, the part right before you find Sam. I hated how if you died in the second half they would make you start all over from the beginning of that checkpoint. On hard mode, they just let start from the second half.
@@totallyahuman5055 for a game like Uncharted 4 yes, 3/5 is actually pretty low and, in my opinion, undeserved. Great thing he changed his mind later on.
@@secoTheSonicFan yeah I know, don’t care. Also I’m not just trying to crap on a popular game, I actually think it’s one of the most boring games I’ve ever beat
Wayward Wolf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I don't know if anyone else noticed this (it took me 3 play throughs to see it) but when you find the Pirates at the table and Nate is going on about how all of them died, you can see Elena's face light up alittle bit. Now I thought the same way as dunkey that the story just "fixed itself", but it didn't. Heads up, I kinda read too deep into this part. At that moment Elena realized that this is what they were meant to do and this is what Nathan is loves doing. She just stands there at smirks because there's no stopping the inevitable, so she embraced the fact that this is the stuff they live for. This explains why right after that she starts talking like nothing happened cuz she forgave him. Also a cooler ending would've been to have Sam die in the ship and we get a brotherly love kind of thing and everybody else is crying at the end. Then the epilogue is almost the same, just no Sam, but we have Elena taking Cassie to the boat and on the counter is a letter from an unknown person, and inside is a note... And a pirate coin. The note goes on to tell all the adventures SAMs had since the Avery one and addresses that he didn't tell Nate cuz he didn't want to drag him in again, but now he's out of the game and he wants to meet up. Then we see Nate smile and get a little teary eyed. Then sets the letter down and hops in the boat. THE END
You're on point about how the story don't just "fix itself". We're too used to plots where the characters have to have a big fight before they make amends, but characters can also solve their issues by simply trying to talk and listen to each other.
Nah that'd be Kind of stupid considering they killed him once already. They just don't have the kind of connection Joel and ellie did. (I reference them because naughty dog did an amazing job connecting the players with the characters) I think they needed a bigger plot twist then sam lying about alcazar.
TBH, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is my favourite game of all time, never has a game had me more immersed or invested in its story, never before have I been so impressed by the graphics and never before have I stood up and clapped when the credits rolled. However, I completely respect your opinion as you made a compelling case and, unlike most reviews, the score matched what you were saying during the video. Thank you for being the best content creator on RU-vid, you are one of the few channels who put effort into their content and are true to themselves, keep it up 👍👍👍
I was dissapointed by the game, i discovered the uncharted series some months ago with the nathan drake collection on ps4 and all the games were fantastic (uncharted 1 was meh) and i was so excited to play uncharted 4 but i was dissapointed
Thank you for reminding me that I can get Super Mario 64 DS instead of getting Mario 64 from My Nintendo. The D-pad problem is fixed through the 3DS circle-pad, after all.
Even on a 3DS when you use the circlepad it's still purely digital input. There's no gradient to your input, you go full tilt or nothing. That's why Super Mario 64 DS has those alternate input methods where you are supposed to use the touchscreen as a thumbstick which sucks shit. Would be cool if Nintendo released it as a downloadable game with higher resolution rendering and circlepad support for the 3DS but that's not really a thing Sony does.
Although I think this game is fantastic and definitely the best in the series I can see your points. Like too much emphasis on climbing (I don't really mind it but it's REALLY boring to watch someone else do it.). But I think that you didn't really give the story enough credit. Like the reason Elena forgave Nate was because she knows that he needed to 'save' his brother and that Nate has troubles balancing his needs for adventure and living a normal life. And Elena secretly missed the adventure too which is why she and Drake form a company to go on more adventures albeit on a strictly legal basis. Another thing that you kinda missed is the depth of the characters. Sam's got a whole lot of depth to his character and Rafe's got to have the most depth in an Uncharted villain since Flynn. He's definitely tied with Flynn as my favorite villain. Although I think overall the story is fantastic there's a couple of problems I have with it. Like Elena - she is the most hot and cold character that I've ever seen in a video game. She tells Nate to do something illegal in the beginning then will admonish him for doing something illegal. I get that he lied to her but Nate never wanted to get involved with Avery's treasure in the 1st place. Then there's Sam. Although I think Sam is an excellent character I find his whole existence to be a problem. I find it hard to believe that no one NEVER mentioned Sam at all in 9 years. Hell Nate never told his fuckin wife that he even had a brother despite telling her that he's an only child in Uncharted 1. And in Uncharted 3 Marlowe's background check was so accurate she knew Drake wasn't Nate's real last name. Then all of the sudden POOF Nate has a brother! Another major problem that you didn't mention is the AI specifically during stealth sections. This game along with the Last of Us and the entire Uncharted series has a serious enemy spawning problem. I can't tell you how many times I stealth kill 8/10 guys (half due to the vertical takedowns not registering properly or in the Last of Us's case Joel smashing a guys head in when he should be strangling a guy) and BAM enemies come rushing out of the woodworks, mostly from behind and I have to waste my bullets anyways or I die in 2 seconds. And if Uncharted's Crushing mode is like Drake Collection's brutal mode then it's probably unfairly bullshit unsatisfyingly hard as shit (seriously I can't tell you how many times I died on the train part in U2 before I even get a chance to move). But that's really it. Like I said this video has some excellent points but overall I feel like you didn't give the game enough credit but hey that's just my opinion. This was a great video tho. I give the game a 8.5/10
1. I don't think Elena is hot and cold...like she is mad that he didnt tell her about the treasure and Sam ..and not only that, he lied to her for weeks...thats why she is mad 2. I think AI is designed like that to punish u for breaking stealth which adds more challenge to the game play, coz past 3 uc games gave no preference to stealth at all...
+Rexinexus I watch him for the entertainment not the reviews, and he even fucking stated in the start of the video that he can be wrong about games he reviewed
Eh it's less about that. More about the fact that he shits on games a lot but his opinions are rarely consistent. He keeps changing his opinions like your mom changes husbands.
To everyone who is complaining about Dunkey’s rating: Dunkey’s rating system truncates fractions. A strong 3/5 could mean 3.9/5 for one thing. But most importantly is that the actual values of the percentage mean nothing unless they are placed in context with values given to other games. Dunkey is known to give out 2 or 3 out of 5 on fairly decent games, so he has placed his mean rating approximately at 50. Other game reviews typically over saturate the higher end of the spectrum. For example, if IGN gives some game an 85, you might think, “wow thats a solid game” but then you realize that they hand out 85’s like crazy, and so you would just claim that the game is average. (And actually a flaw to an inflated rating system like this is that the actual amazing game “outliers” seem less remarkable than they ought to, while bad games seem even more abysmal). Below is some sort of pedantic math that extrapolates the true meaning of Dunkey’s review. If you’re not interested in the derivation then just skip to the bottom. Mathematically this concept can be summarized by the central limit theorem which claims that this distribution for games is approximately Gaussian, which just means it follows a normal symmetric “bell” curve about the mean. Using this knowledge we can guess that Dunkey’s mean is ~50 and his standard deviation is ~5 to 10 (If you treat it like a binomial dist of pass/fail with p=.5 and n = 100 you find std. dev. = 5). Dunkey gave the game a 3 so we find that it gets a z-score of +2 to +1 standard deviations. Computing the cumulative probability of this gives this game lying in between 84% and 98% of all games Dunkey reviews. We will choose the 84% as it encompasses maximal error. Thus, a 3/5 for Dunkey translates to being better than about 84% of games. So it’s not a bad rating at all, and I think properly reflects a good critic’s take on a good game. (Note that the standard deviation was a lot of guess work, just knowing that most of his games were 2’s or 3’s with the occasional 5/5 Knack mastapiece thrown in there).
Disagreed; Uncharted shouldn't be on such a low-ball ass score...I've seen some shit games make 3/5; This isn't one of em. Should bump it up to 4/5 - grappling hook aint that bad...lmao
It's absolutely hilarious that in this video he talks about how he changed his opinion on TLOU and then later changed his opinion on this game and said it was one of the best games of the decade
Just imagine how pissed and butthurt the fanboys would get if someone like IGN gave it a 3/5, or similar on their scale. People are bitching over a fucking 9/10.
Gabriel De la Ossa I like it just fells smooth and well done but let’s be honest they put way more climbing then it should be,by the 2/3 of the game it got kinda boring
The jeep scene was the best part honestly, where you're being dragged by sully and you're blowing up cars. It felt really reminiscent of the older uncharted games which is really great for the series
I've been playing the whole uncharted series lately and one thing I noticed that I love about it. Naughty dog is such a good dev. The games are very stable. There's nearly no popping out in any games except Uncharted 3 in some areas. The lighting, the shadow, textures. They look really amazing and these games run flawlessly on 60 fps
Just finished this masterpiece 5/5 a great way to end Nathan's story Great graphics Good acting Action packed moments Great combat and treasures Great story And a fantastic boss fight that I will remember for a long time 🏅
@@Heisen_Bergensen its simple but effective. The combat has a flow that really gets you in the action, despite not have a shit ton of options like other shooters would and I say thats a win. Its great even
+IAmKnownAsBigT I disagree, his review was pretty opinionated, I'd rather have a review that gave me objective points rather than "I don't like the climbing.".
Caleb Popham You take its basic features, and show what they have to offer, including story (Even though its the most subjective of aspects). A good example of an objective review of this game would be ACG's or RobinGaming's review of it. My point was more of, Dunkey doesn't really review them, he just kinda rambles on about his opinion about them and while that can be seen as a review, I don't think its a good format of one. Perhaps I'm just ticked off at the people using his opinion as a way to validate their hate bias towards the game and consoles.
ok dunkles u removed me from steam but lemme tell u this coming from a club penguin player like me, play more super mario 64 u snozzberry sniffing gimpnoodle sauce breath
thank you video game Dunkey. The whole world seems to have gone crazy. I felt like I was the only one let down by this game. you absolutely nailed it with the the way the plot runs out of steam. it's like the whole thing was blowing up and then somebody just let the air out halfway through. Also, AM I THE ONLY WHO NOTICED HOW FUCKING TERRIBLE THE BRAWLING IS?! For fucks sake uncharted 3 started with the best brawl ever in a video game. uncharted 4 started with a fucking joke. they took out counter punches why? To make the fist fights feel just like fucking quick time events? because they felt worse than quick time events.
and on a smaller note, I was really disappointed that there wasn't any Supernatural element to this game I feel like Supernatural shit is a staple of the franchise and they even teased Us by saying pirate ghost at least three times in the second half of the game. the first time it sounded like they were joking but by the second time they said pirate ghost I was really hoping that they would just go there as a joke. it would have been hilarious to see Nathan and Elena react to pirate ghosts. like "this is why the fuck we retired"
+winkoman3 Yeah the hand to hand combat felt like a real downgrade, I remember in Uncharted 3 I was fighting in the kitchen and drake just picked up a frying pan and whacked a dude with it. There was all this crazy shit that could happen and in this one it felt really static. And putting a ghost pirate in as a joke would have made this game a 5/5 for me.
Well, that and she's actually trained, which was something I really liked. Of course someone who actually knows how to fight should be pretty much unbeatable. Nathan just kinda throws punches.
I think that the scripted climbing sequences aren't supposed to be challenging from a gameplay perspective. They are meant to make you feel like an explorer and to break the pace of the narration.
I haven't seen a dunkview yet, just your other videos. pleasantly surprised that you got a sincere thing going on here. You're a cool video game variety act. keep it up, nice work
That insert of Super Mario 64 DS has to be the best use of a single image I've seen on RU-vid. I missed half the review because I was laughing from just that.
Since you're one of the funniest youtubers i watch i assumed this would like 90% jokes but honestly this was a legit review. A pretty accurate review too
