For me black wire is (-) and green is ignition (+). Was trying to figure out fuel gauge wire and this video helped a lot. thank you. I put this speedo on zontes monster. It has electronic tacho from factory so it wasn't any hasle with rpm, only select 4 stroke engine in menu and readings was same as old tacho.
@@DRugfree1987 by the way. I'm having an issue where my speedometer panel will turn off after a while. Any idea what might be causing it the whole thing doesn't turn off. The turn signal lights and the back light still works just the speed panel turns off
I will be installing one of these on my CB450 K5 and probably another on my SLR 650. The CB450 K does not have a pulse generator that i know of.. where should i hook the wire to?
My old speedo has just one connection for both right and left indicator as it had just one indication light on speedo for both .How can i wire up with this speedo so that this new speedo lights up both right and left indications separately ?
Hey man, great video! Very helpful and informative. I noticed in your previous video, that the needle of one of your speedometers was stuck at 12 000 rpm and now both are as they should be (at 0 rpm). I have the same issue (I think a accidentally wired it wrong) and I was wondering how did you fix it?
Hi there, may I ask you that, if I only need the RPM to work, no need to save miles, can I connect the RED wire into the wire that goes after the ignition key?
Thanks for the tutorial. When you say the red wire is "power to the speedo all the time" what do you mean by that and how would you wire it? Would you just run a wire to the positive terminal of the battery separate from the ignition wire? Wouldn't that drain your battery constantly? Even if you add a switch to this wire I don't see how that's different from the ignition power source. My speedo seems to work fine with just the black ignition wire hooked up and powers on but will my settings not be saved?
As concern gas wire (blue and white), you said that less is the resistance and more full the tank will be; then you mean more is the resistance and more it's empty. But which are the resitance values in when is full and empty? I really hope you'll answer me. Thank you.
Hi there, Thanks for doing these videos, they've been pretty handy, I bought one of these a long time ago and my wiring colours are different to yours (mine has the black writing on the front), on mine I have a green and red cable... any ideas on what this one is to go? again, thanks for your help :)
Cant get the Rpms on this unit, Any advice? It is going onto a 2005 sportster xl1500c. Tried connecting it to the coil wires and wrapping a wire on a spark plug wire and nothing. Set it up between to 2 cylinder and 4 cylinder and nothing. When I turn the ignition on the gauge needle swipes and goes back to 0 please any help will be appreciated.
if you just want to test to see of the speedometer works. hook up black to positive and green to negative. when wiring it up normally, black will be wired to your ignition/key. and red will go straight to positive side of the battery battery, and green will go to the negitive side of the battery or to a body ground
I need help, please. My speedometer has a pink wire (the data sheet says is the 2nd gear but it is not). Everything is working fine, but i think that pink cable is the same as your red wire, which you mention is the "memory", my question is that I don't understand what exactly the function is. Thank you so much, any help would be appreciated. My speedometer has totally different wires than the ones in this video.
I accidentally change my cylinder settings to 2 cylinders. Do you know if it is possible to change it back to 1 cylinder? It looks like it's near impossible. Is it possible to possibly even reset the memory settings?
I have also bought one of these but haven't installed it yet, but what if you disconnect the wires that goe to the battery? Red and Green. Wouldn't that reset the whole thing since it looses all power?
Hi Lucas, yes its quite easy you just long press the button as u turn it on itl come up with something like yyy--- change it to yyy123 then the first parameter u can change is the amount of cylinders
@@DRugfree1987 It's OK I found one on ebay from China that will work on boats and cars ATV's etc for only £30 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/85mm-Waterproof-Digital-Stainless-Speedometer-Gauge-for-Car-Boat-ATV-120MPH/164319393932?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Can't get the lightning (Black cable) to work... I get the calibration but nothing lights up, it did once or twice but when i put it together it doesnt work anymore... There is power everywhere but nothing happens..
Do you mean. Like just the basic two wires to just turn on the speedometer. Theirs 2 positive wires and one neutral wire. Both positive wires need to have power for the meter to come on. One is for memory and to allow the meter to cycle when you turn off the bike. And the other goes to the ignition to send power to the meter and light up when the bike is turned on
Hi there, I did this connection: "when wiring it up normally, black will be wired to your ignition/key. and red will go straight to positive side of the battery battery, and green will go to the negitive side of the battery or to a body ground" When I connect red to battery the speedo stay on all the time (does not turn off), is that correct?? Blinkers and light symbols do not work unit I turn on key.
Red is the memory wire. Allows the speedo to cycle completely off when turning the bike off. And to act as power to settings. It will come on and off normally. But you will notice when you turn the bike off the tach will cycle then go to zero
Hey thanks for the quick reply! Sorry I confused myself! I wired it like you said, black ignition/key, red straight to battery, green ground. When wired like this, no power to speedo (nothing lights up, tach doesn't cycle) but, when I turn key on, blinkers, light & hi-beam light symbols work when in use. (The speedometer works hooked up black to positive and green to negative - tach will cycle then go to zero)
dvers 411 make sure you are getting power to to black wire. Might even want to test it by running a wire straight to the battery. And make sure no fuses are popped
