These cousins are suing each other over a car that they don't legally own. Do you obey all your state's laws for car ownership, or is it too much hassle?
I have dealt with many vehicles that were owned by county, local, and state police as well as public school buses and they were all insured. Where do you get your information?
No not through a private insurance company. They are self insured. A large corporation can self insure by proving that they make enough money to cover someone if they get in an accident. If you are rich enough or have a business that makes enough money you can sign a waver to be self insured. Self insured means your company makes enough money to cover anyone they cause damage to.
Did you not pay attention? She loaned her school money to her cousin so she can have a car to ride, but she expected to get that money back. She didn't just buy one because she wanted to go shopping.
Ashley proved her cousin's point when she said she was manipulative cause she went in there talking all soft and innocent. But in the end she was all sassy and insulting her aunt about learning a new word and smirking. Lol
The car is SALVAGED!!! It's not worth what Kelly blue book says which I think is absolutely hilarious. For those who do t know what a salvaged titles is: it's as follows. A car that has been damaged and totaled out by the insurance company. A salvaged car then has to go through salvaged inspection once it has been thoroughly fixed and needs documentation and picture proof. Once it passes( only if you are lucky and fixed the car right) will you get a RaeBUILT title for your car which tells you the car was totaled but has been fixed. Stupid people need to really research any car especially a used car! Cmon now people, your in college and supposed to be smart! Depending on the car, I wouldn't get into it. And I'm positive she payed way too much for it and will need to sink a pretty penny into it to get it to pass! Good luck! I personally buy and fix salvaged cars and it's not a fun trip to take!
I can't understand how the lady in green isn't in jail. She's "axed" a lot of people. She keeps saying she "axed" people and there must be a hell of a pile of folks in the morgue by now.
She's not bass.. She's contralto. It's still a fair amount above a tenor. It's almost physically impossible for a woman to sound bass. Women are however expected to have a much lighter voice and it sounds strange when they don't.
lol, the metro bus stops at every lonestar college in Houston Texas and you can go from the very end of the Northside all the way to the very end of the Southside on metro
College student. She talks and speaks like she hasn't even gotten out of fifth grade. And don't give me that Ebonics crap, beautiful young, supposed to be educated black women should not be talking in Ebonics. If you have an education and you spent all that money to get it, speak properly.
I just got hit by a uninsured motorist. Guy ran a red light and turned left in front of me. I'm 26 this is my first accident and the kicker is the date Friday the 13th SMH.
It should be a criminal offence if a purchaser receives a title, but drives a vehicle for more than a few hours (just enough time to get the car home, or to the vehicle title registration center), without recording the change in ownership. I had 2 automobile purchasers that did not immediately record ownership. Effective this year, if I sell a car, I will remove the licence plates. When they record the title, they can get new plates. If they drive without plates, then they can pay their fines.
Neither of them own it! The person who owns it could file against them both! Neither of them have a title in their names... Good Lord & they thought this was a good idea?! Really??
Houston - doesn't have a bus system for the largest city in Texas? You NEVER help relatives ( especially those cousins), friends and significant others if you're NOT married.
07:11 they are "college" students, yet they "AX" questions???????? the word is "ASK," why do so many African-American people of many levels of education say "ax" instead of "ask," reminds me of people in England that drop the "h" in words that begin with "h," but that is usually with those who have not had a formal education.
Ugh. I can't stand people who drive without any insurance. It's bad enough most state minimums are so low but then you have these selfish idiots who don't have any kind of coverage. And the majority of people without insurance aren't going to have any money or assets to sue for so whoever they hit is just screwed.
In New Hampshire it’s not required, so if you ever see those Live Free Or Die plates, just let him pass. His punctuality to the Domesticated Lobster Convention isn’t worth your car or life.
It's a different world. Amazed out how many Black folk go on these shows and are driving without a drivers license, insurance, and even a title. And every one of them thinks it's no big deal. So when they hit you, the first thing they do is RUN, leaving you with the damage they caused!
When they were talking about buses int he beginning the girl was right, buses in general are not as used in the south as they are up north like in new york, boston, chicago.
Love it! At the end, the Bitch who was driving it without a license, insurance says, "She went to court with dirty hands and you can't go to court with dirty hands!" Ghetto logic!
the bus system in Houston is horrible I live in Harris county and yes the bus will stop on a certain street then you have to catch another bus just to go further up the street you have to have a car to make it out here
Just because they are in college does not mean they are educated or are being educated. She apparently didn't learn how to think, as she told the judge, "i wasn't thinking."
its not only black people, it depends on where you grew up at. Everyone has a accent. Its like how i find it funny that people in some states up north pronounce car as cah.
As soon as I heard Lone Star Community College, I knew she was talking about Houston. And she's wrong; there's the Metro bus that runs all over Houston.
Whats happening here? As the charges were explained one girl said her friend didn't want to go from bank to bank to bank. Is this stone age banking or what. I deal with 18 different financial companies and all through the one bank.
This how I would have decided this case. 1. Claim for the price of the car and being told it was worth more. Simple answer, the principle of caveat emptor 'buyer beware' applies therefore dismissed. 2. Any claim they bring against each other which relates to the car is instantly dismissed. As the aunt stated that you need to enter court with clean hand. This comes from the principle of equity. Equity in law will not recognise your rights and the court will not seek a remedy for people who have dirty hands. 3. The damage to the Aunts car is a separate claim and if she wishes to bring a claim she is welcome too. A very simple case.
So true , I live in Houston in Harris County . The buses sucks . I had to buy a car to go to work . Where I live there r no buses at all . It would be nice if they did
There is a provision in law that states that people can work out civil issues in 'arbitration courts'. They basically sign a contract that says they agree to abide by the decision of the arbitrator. The Arbitrator usually has to have some sort of legal experience (lawyer, actual judge) but the decisions they come to are only legally binding due to the contract the two parties sign agreeing to abide by the decision. They usually base the decisions based on general legal principles, not specific state law. They're basically dispute resolution specialists with a contract that says the parties will abide by the resolution. That's all the power that the TV courts have.
milesandemilyrock Yes I did. She's handling a TX case because state law isnt used as a basis for decision in arbitration courts. Also, I believe their transportation is paid for. So is lodging, as far as I know. This, plus a free binding decision is usually what entices people to go on these shows. Plus, some people, no matter how stupid, really want their 15 mins of fame.
Usually, depending on the show, you have to have a civil case pending in small claims court to appear on the show. Part of the agreement to appear on TV is that you drop your case in civil, being small claims, court.
Yes, tons of busses that are always late or break down on you and cost way too much to be taking every day. I'm in Park & Ride zone 3. Getting on a bus here would cost me $3.75 and the ticket doesn't transfer, and it usually takes one or two transfers to get anywhere I'd be going. Not to mention it's just as many transfers to get back. If I were to take the bus every day, I'd spend more than twice as much a month as I currently spend on gas. At that rate, it's more economically sound to finance the purchase of a used car, making the payments partially with the money not being spent on bus fare. Houston's public transportation sucks ass unless you live downtown.
Crimson & Cards i live in the same area she lives, because she goes to lone star and that's across where I live. There aren't really any public busses because we aren't in the city. We live pretty close to kingwood for reference
I hate this about student loans. They give it to the most undeserving 'poor' or financially needy people, but the ones who come from 'money' get nothing. It's stupid. Every student loan should be zero or low interest, and none in the form of grants. It would solve a lot of finaid deficit.
It amazes me the number of people that appear on these shows with some kind of half baked scam, and trying to get a judgment in their favor. I can't even come up with 5 times where they've had insurance, it's always just lapsed... now they don't even have a driver's license. The rules apply to everyone but them.
I notice the judge sometimes has a hard time comprehending things. I've seen this in a couple other of her cases. "Why should she pay you? you got the car. -yah but the money was for school. -so why'd you buy a car?" She clearly explained that she bought it for her cousin because she needed a car but didn't have the money yet. So they agreed she would buy it and then the cousin would pay her back. She was helping her out. But she should have waited till the cousin got her license so they wouldn't have ended up in this mess. In a way the cousin kinda screwed her over cause now she doesn't want the car and ashley is now stuck with it. but I honestly don't like her so I don't really care. Lol Especially that smart ass remark she made at the end to her aunt.
What is WITH all these young idiots thinking they're entitled to everything if they make a mistake!? People need to start owning up for their actions and to stop going around blaming everyone and acting like victims. The Plaintiff may have been ignorant, but certainly wasn't stupid. I would have never given her the car until she had her license and paid me back. She could have bought it to secure the car, transfered the title over as a gift and walked away from this scoff free. What a dope.
