Shoutout to gaijin for not allowing the Tornado to reach its historical top speed of 1480km/h at sea level, while the MiG-29 can reach 1600, truly incredible.

10.3 plane added 2 years after the meta at 11.3 fighting mostly 11.7. Cool. Also pretty gimped considering it is capable of 1600kmh at sea level fully loaded IRL lol. With the correct performance I'd say 10.7 - 11.0 max.

Very telling that within an hour of the patch drop I was seeing dozens of F-16s of all variants and a handful of MiG-29s, but over the past 3 days over dozens of games I've seen 3 Tornados in total, 2 German & 1 UK. Best part is there's so few people playing this hunk of shit the stats might never actually get bad enough for Gaijin to do anything about it. Not adding the Tornado ADV was such a huge missed opportunity. Very good PD radar, upgraded Skyflashes with longer burn time and better tracking, and faster at altitude.

Can't wait for the ME 264 fighter tutorial Defyn, by far one of my favorite plane's in the game, definitely one of the best 5.0s.

Man it’s so crazy that the Tornado with its MASSIVE elevators and fully extended wings is just a bit more manoeuvreable than an F-104. Mostly because it doesn’t make any sense physics wise and why did Gaijin have to artificially nerf an already non meta plane? IRL it was more nimble and quicker than in game but Gaijin just refuses to implement the changes suggested in the bug reports.

Let’s hope they give it, the larger countermeasure pods it could take.

My dad used to read lots of military magazines and journals back in the 70s and I would read through them when he was finished. I used to love the ads and short articles by the various suppliers all touting their wares - one in particular was by Mauser discussing the advantages of the BK-27 27mm revolver cannon over the M61 Gatling. According to Mauser, although the BK-27 had a lower ROF overall it had a quicker ROF in the first fraction of a second while the Gatling "spooled up". Whether this was true or not, and whether this is modeled in game I will never know but it seemed like a cool distinction to me.

One thing this excels at is orbital bombing - seriously, it rocks in GRB, more-so than any other GBU users (imo). The IDS ASSTA (German Tornado) gets better engines, making it quite a bit faster and you feel that the performance is better. As for the rudder, it's currently very bugged, waiting for several FM fixes.

@DEFYN I have a small tip: set your reverse thrust to the same key as your airbreak. I know it wont fix the Tornado, but it might help a tiny bit.

I love it how they implemented a practice shell as the only tracer bullet in the belts. It takes 1/4 of the bullets up, ridiculous

As of right now top tier is just a matter of how decent the players in your 11.7 planes are. If they pull their weight then you'll probably win, if they don't then you'll just get shat on and lose in 5 min. This is not helped at all of course by gaijin introducing a boatload of new top tier premiums either. The ability to actually solo carry games at this BR continues to shrink with every update and that's just sad.

Anybody who expected the tornado to be competitive in the current game meta was simply delusional. Tornado flight characteristics were never good compared to multirole fighters of its time. Later variants were saved by a very good radar and good missile but the plane overall was just a F14 on a budget. It was set in stone it was not going to be good Vs Mirage 2000S5, F16, Mig 29, etc..

Why does gaijin actually hate Britain so much? It’s so frustrating seeing everything we are given nerfed into the floor for no reason because clearly we are sooooo the problem with the game 🙄

Do you recommend using the throttling the engine option when tracked by a infrared missile as it cools the engine by 150-300 degrees but also slows you down a lot.

I'm really confused. My basic aircraft knowledge lead me to believe that bigger rudder = better nose authority (especially at high speeds). The P-51 D-30 lacked the same rudder as the P-51 H and consequently has noticeably worse nose authority when in a high speed dive. However the argument could be made that the P-51H is a completely new airframe and has massive improvements in other facets. Another example is the F8F-1B which ingame has the same problem as the P-51 D-30. However the F8F-2 (which isn't ingame) with an extra large rudder to the best of my understanding probably fixed the problem of little nose authority in high speed dives. Why then does the tornado with it's whopping rudder have bad nose authority, especially at high speeds? Is my understanding of aircraft physics wrong? or Is the airframe ingame modelled incorrectly?

Even more hilarious that you don't even get bombs by default so your Norfolk Land Shark can't even pretend to be doing anything close to what it's supposed to by bombing bases. Now, if they gave it Runway denial weaponry and let you disable the enemy runways for refuelling and rearming that might be a niche but potentially rewarding job for it. But team deathmatch generally? Nah.

the auto wing sweep on it is terribad, likes to keep the wings too extended so you're always about to rip, Mig23 is the same but to a much lesser extent so it is actually usable, the tomcat's is great but yeah the bad auto swing implementation, the wing mounted flare pods and the mongo rudder make it just a chore to fly before you even consider the armament. Oooof. Impressive you were able to do so well in it.

As a learning aircraft engineer AND having been lectured by a bloke who worked on this thing, it is a god awful representation and half baked at best. I by no means claim it is the greatest thing to grace the skies, although good god does it look gorgeous. It is nowhere near this bad. The thing should have far more speed and control than it has. not to mention that giant continental sized tail plane should be immune to fire ignitions in it's fuel tank due to it being dumped full of nitrogen as it drains. this doesn't even mention the auto control wing sweep, which was actually turned off by most pilots. as one of the Unofficial official Modifications to give manual control back to the pilot and let them toggle it on if they want it.

So it's not like Tornado is a bad jet, but it's Gaijin incompetence to properly balance it in game? Merry Christmas Defyn :)!

The plane has enough room for 4 9Ls but nope just two and a Sadge payload when doing CAS, guns are cool but GR.7 Harrier is still a better option for air and ground.

Cause America, Germany and Russia are the favorites And if Britain, or Italy, or Japan or anyone other then the big 3 get something It HAS to suck Tornado can stay where it’s all, just bump the F-14, F-16’s and the Mig-29 to 12.7 or at bare minimum 12.3 And bump the A-10 and SU-25 to 10.3 At least Geez

People killing your shit is the worst thing ever, I'd rather have two mates at the start of a match crashing instead of people stealing my kills! I once got told by a guy who stole my kill, after doing a 1 minute dogfight like 30km away from everybody else (except for that one guy) after setting the enemy on fire, that the kill would be only my kill if I actually killed him. I was putting all my sweat into that dogfight and when I finally had him that asshole just shot a missile at my kill and stole it from me. Ofc I had to kill the mate as revenge.

Not one to hate on many planes and I'm definitely outnumbered on this but this plane isn't a deal breaker for me and alot of people forget this is only a gr 1. There is more to come. Still overhyped in my opinion but for people who like this plane there is probably more to come even of the gr1. But let's not forget about the f-15
