Here is an update of my facial hair removal journey. I'm sorry if I gave you any wrong information in my previous video on laser. Laser seemed to be working on my face until I stopped doing it.
I think I have learned my lesson and will be leaving my face alone rather than trying every single thing that is available to me. I wish I could go back and tell myself to stick to electrolysis the first time round I did it. Whether I have had paradoxical hair growth or not, I am planning to stick to electrolysis until I am happy with the amount of hair reduced.
If you want to find electrologists near you, go to the British institute and association of electrolysis website: electrolysis.c...
Click on 'Find a member' and it will show you a list of people who do electrolysis near you. Check them out including their reviews before you go ahead.

This video made me so sad. You sound so sad and I totally feel your pain to some extent with unwanted hair growth. Too many woman have to go through so much money and pain just to rid their body of hair and I think the easier solution is society needs to stop being buttholes and let us have Hair and make that normal. We’re humans. We have hair covering our body. Some darker than others and everyone needs to not make us feel badly about it and make it more normal. You speaking up is one step to bringing awareness so thank you and best of luck with your hair removal🖤🖤

I'm a feminine male and I have to deal with the issues women face when it comes to beauty. Even though I'm not like most guys and while still identifying as a guy, I try my best to be as feminine as possible. I hate body hair, luckily as a 24 year old male I don't have it on my chest or stomach but I'd say my legs are the hairiest. I tried laser hair removal and it didn't work, so I'm considering electrolysis.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for being brave enough to share this. I work at a laser and elec. spa and the amount of women myself included that have hair on their face is insane and it has honestly made me more comfortable with myself. We treat roughly 20 women a day for facial hair some without pcos and others with it. I wish society would normalize it and it starts with people like you sharing your story and your struggles with it. You most certainly are not alone!

I'm on a hairy girl video binge because this has been my reality since I was 4 years old. It's my biggest insecurity to the point where I wished for alopecia universals during my teens. I've just finished 6 laser hair removal session and am feeling discouraged at the results. There has been a massive reduction in hair but not as much as I hoped.

I have been doing laser hair removal every two months for almost 10 years. I feel like in the last 3 years or so is when there has been enough reduction that I don't have to shave anymore. I started having hair growth when I was 4 years old as well. I used to be so ashamed of it as a child that I only wore long sleeve shirts and long pants, even though I lived in the Caribbean. There were many times when I felt like I was going to pass out from overheating. Anyways the moral of my story is you are going to need a lot more than 6 laser hair treatments to get to the point where you don't need to shave anymore. Laser worked really well for my arms, legs, underarms, and bikini. But on my face, not so much. Just sharing my experience.

This is so reassuring to me. I've been tested for PCOs but have never been diagnosed with that nor any other hormone imbalance. I was so nervous to do laser a few years ago on my neck, but decided to take the plunge and after about 6 months my hair grew back SO much worse than it ever was beforehand. I'm so afraid I'll have the same reaction to electrolysis & I don't want to risk the hair getting even worse than it is now, but this gives me hope!! Thank you!!

true. but electrolysis is really expensive and time consuming for any other area that is NOT SMALL ie your neck, chin, nipples. NHS should cover other things to PREVENT pcos, instead of treating symptoms. I have pcos due to poor lifestyle choices during my childhood and teen years. I'm also doing electrolysis for chin hair. Would be nice to get pcos discount though

I had no idea what PCOS is before this video and I was searching for a long time for answers as to why I had thick hair growth on my face. So when you mentioned you had PCOS, I looked up more about it and all of the boxes check off. I'm 21, I've had terrible acne associated with my hair growth, irregular periods, and I never knew why. I didn't go to the doctor for it because I grew up thinking this is what all women go through, but I was wrong. Just now, when I stumbled across your informational video (and did more research) I realized it was time to get tested. Thank you. Thank you so much ❤️.

As an Electrologist I have worked on many young women with PCOS some have great results with just months of weekly visits and then a once in a few months visit, while others do suffer with so much hair it seems endless and discouraging. I use a blend of the two modalities galvanic and Thermolysis. I have never left the red escars that you receive from the service. I do believe that Electrology works, it is very difficult to know just how many treatments it could take and if your internal health is producing hormones causing more hair growth. I’m impressed with your presentation and honest results and continuous strength to keep track and believe

The hardest part is I have gone through a lot of mental agony for my condition without having any issues with hormone imbalance , the only thing is the vigorosity by which they shaved and left me nowhere. But I am sure that thermolysis and electrolysis are the best possible tools. I felt you are right in saying that it really works unlike others. May you get a lot of customers treated at your clinic.

Thank you for your video! This has been so helpful and explained to me why I have received hair growth after Lasor with no hormonal imbalances. Doctors have not found any answers, but I fear I am not going to the right doctor. I am currently going into electrolysis now after years of Lasor work. I wished that insurance companies help to pay for this development of hair in women as it can cause depression and anxiety, The same way that some insurance helps to pay for Lasor or electrolysis for the transgender community. Instead every insurance company suggest that this is just a cosmetic procedure when women suffer with this problem and have no support from society pressures or medically.

When I had laser hair removal done in a private clinic, the tech who did my treatments explained that there are certain areas for some people that result in the laser actually stimulating hair growth in those areas. These areas include the jawline/neck, the chest, and the back. This happened my under-chin area too, although it wasn't as severe as yours. It also happened to a friend of mine in the same area.

Wow, I am so glad I am hearing this. I don’t have PCOS from what I know but growing up I was extremely hairy. My labs show that I have slightly elevated testosterone. I spent years doing laser; 4 years on my legs and 3 years on my face. I noticed when I started laser on my face that the hair was much thicker and coarser. I continued along with it. Unfortunately, I still have hair on my chin and jawline. The upper lip hair is resolved. I was thinking about doing electrolysis. Both my mom and sister have done it and have amazing results. I had been diagnosed with PCOS some 8 yrs back and was suffering from facial hair on cheeks and chin. To my experience, I want to say very strongly that until unless we correct the root cause of the PCOS no laser or electrolysis gives us a permanent solution though we take therapies for years. Even if it seems permanently reduced, it is not permanent. Exercise, changes in diet, and lifestyle definitely help us in control the hormonal irregularity which consequently reduces facial hair growth. Along with that daily intake of 1 spoon of roasted flax seeds powder or soybean powder with hot water and spearmint tea helps in getting regular periods and controls the symptoms of PCOS.

Hi Melis, I also had hair removal treatment in my neck & chin area. I’m a graduated biology student in MA applying to medical school soon. I started getting facial hair growth myself a week after I had a prenatal pill along with a multivitamin pill. I’m positive of this because this is the only thing I had done different the week before I started seeing so many changes in my body. Also, I think this might have been the trigger to cause such quick hormonal imbalances. After this I decided to get laser treatment and my hair did keep growing back until I stopped eating processed meat. I stopped because when I went to visit the country where I was raised (Dominican Republic), I was eating everything there and I did not get any hair growth. But once I came back to he US I continued to eat processed meat and I got the hair growth back. After this I realized it had something to do with what I was eating. Before finishing my 9 laser sessions I started eating meat with no preservatives or antibiotics and this helped. I did end up getting a little bit of hair growth back so I decided to give up eating meat completely. Today, I only eat seafood. My advise to you is pay more attention to what your eating, this is key. Best of luck, Yacaira

Hi Melis! Thanks for sharing your story. I too have PCOS and after years of waxing and tweezing my face and the hair growing in thicker and darker, I embarked on the electrolysis journey. I started back in March and have been going every two weeks for one hour sessions. It seems to be helping, but I am not entirely sure as I have not gone longer than two weeks without a session. The sessions are definitely pricey, but I am willing to make the investment if it helps with my facial hair in the long run. I am hoping my sessions get shorter and less frequent. Really informative video. Always had 1 or 2 "hag hairs" on my chin as an adult. Since hysterectomy in 2017 (I'm 53), they have become more numerous/thicker. They also cause my face to break out in spots and for the first time ever I'm considering electrolysis. Waxing actually tore the top layer of my skin off, which then became infected and scabby (yum). Creams leave my skin sore and taught and shaving leaves stubble that looks like black heads. Your video was the most honest and informative I've seen yet. Good luck and thanks.

Go to an endocrinologist, if hormones are out of balance unfortunately whatever you do the hair will come back time and time again, fix your hormones first then treat the symptoms of them being out of balance / acne, hair and etc.

There is no cure for PCOS. You can take birth control and other hormonal supplements, but unfortunately it won't lessen the hirsutism symptom. Many of the symptoms of PCOS have to be treated separately from the hormonal aspect or ignored, which is really hard to do when society sets the standard for what is acceptable regardless of the reasons why we are different.

Something similar happened to me! I was so upset that laser made my condition worse, to the point that electrolysis had to go fix their (laser) mistakes. Laser also gave me pigmentation on my face. Also where I went the lady was only interested in selling me lotions than focussing on my concerns. Thanks for your honest video and if you are reading please always choose electricolysis over laser. i don’t have PCOS, but i did do laser on my face because i thought it would get rid of the hairs i had. i was wrong; it made it worse. my hair grew back thicker and darker, and i was upset. it looked like yours, but it a bit more thicker. i started electrolysis in February 2019 and i would go every week for one hour. the hair growth was so bad my lady told me i should be coming in a few times a week for one hour. it is now July 2019, and i have seen results like no other. i am so so happy i did electrolysis because it got rid of all of my hair. we are now working on my sideburn area and after that i should be coming in every few months. i am so sorry this happened to you, but i hope you get the results you need from electrolysis.

I am over 39 years old. I have this hair growth when I was 21, but I checked it several times, it had nothing to do with my endocrine system. I never had PCOS, or thyroid disorders. I was pretty much normal other than slightly asthmatic and consuming steroids in the forms of inhalers and rarely in the form of shots. I went through Lazer and it really got worse, then through electrolysis which helped me, but since I got married I moved to some other place and the only option there was laser. Though I tried convincing the dermatologist that it would bring the worst results, I had no other go. I am severely affected as I have a 100 times more hair now..

I have never commented on such videos on youtube before, but yours is so spot on and I could finally relate to a story from beginning to end that I feel I have to share my own story with laser. I have struggled with facial hair for a long time too.. and I thought it only got worse after waxing (some hairs got thicker and others would grow back as ingrown hair) until I did laser sessions for a year and a half and stopped; that's when another - bigger - problem has emerged ! After the first 2 laser sessions I was so happy with the result - since I had a few dark hairs on my chin that got thinner so quickly - that I decided to extend the area to my sideburns as well. I kept recommending laser treatment to my friends and I enjoyed having a clean face for months (knowing that I had a session every 3 weeks that cost 80$ each). But the moment I stopped having laser I noticed that my hair growth has become even worse! I started having hair around my neck that I didn't have before and now it's becoming thicker which is really frightening. I have no hormonal problem and my case is actually a paradoxal hair growth as you said. Now I really don't know what to do since I am one of those rare cases who experience this side effect I am afraid it would happen with any other method I try! You never think of yourself having a rare side effect until it happens to you. Now all I do avoid touching it even though I don't think I can live with it any longer and will probably try bleaching or something (actually that's how I stumbled upon this video). I mean I tried both waxing and threading before laser and wasn't satisfied with the result or just how fast it kept growing back. I'm sharing this only to say that if it had happened to you, you reader, you're not the only one. I still don't know what to do about it but..I'm hopeful.

This is exactly why I chose NOT to do laser. Funny how “professionals” will deny deny deny that hair can grow back thicker, darker and in places it didn’t grow this way prior, yet there is an entire diagnosis and term for exactly that condition called paradoxical hypertrichosis 🙄. I didn’t need the terminology to know this is a very real thing that happens to us, but from personal experience I know this condition is very real. They try to make us think we’re delusional. They say it’s “rare” but I’ve watched so many vision women who have this same problem

@@elettramia6380 Thanks for your comment, Elettra. Wow it's been 2 years now since my comment and a lot has happened since. I decided to invest in a Philips laser that cost me 350€ then (now around 400) from the lumea series... and I can't be happier! I used it regularly for half a year then stopped for almost a year before starting again this month, and what can I say... I'm blown away!! The results lasted LONG after I stopped, which was not the case when I had laser sessions with a professional.. and I could've probably waited some more before starting again. Some friends and even my sibling used it too after I recommended it and they're all happy with it, especially when they stop and realize too that the hair growth is unbelievably reduced for many many months! Just putting this here it might help some of you! I still don't know how it's working better than seeing a professional but it does and it's cost effective too so it's worth a try in my opinion. Especially that there are no extra costs after that!

As a girl who is 23 y.o please read carefully. I've been through the same process and I totally got rid of all my facial hair. I am a hairy girl and my hormones are supporting it and at 7 I started waxing bikini area, armpits and I was really sensitive about even 1 hair folicule. At 14 I started to have laser hair removal to my face and my face become like man beard and it followed by inflamed hair root causing acne and my face was in terrible situation with soooo many hair and acne. What laser does to facial hair is since the roots are not so thick, it literally triggers the hair and wakes up the sleeping roots and causes the hairs you won't even see becomes darker and thicker and results with beard-like hairs. At 18 I found a woman in İstanbul who does the great job in electrolysis and went her. It took 22 hours in 2 days. I was numbed and literally slept while she was doing the job. I got rid of each hair and result was perfect. A year later maybe quarter of the hair came back with same strong and I went to her again. And now its been 4 years I am totally clean and I see the ONLY AND ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF THE HAIR IS ELECTROLYSIS. PLEASE DON'T EVEN TRY SOMETHING ELSE. AND BE SURE THAT YOUR ESTHETICIAN DON'T PULL THE HAIR WITH TWEEZER AFTER GAVE THE ELECTRIC SHOCK WITH NEEDLE. MAKE SURE HAIR IS COMING TO TWEEZER WITHOUT FORCING/PULLING WITH TWEEZER. And don't worry everything has a solution as long as we are healthy. Nevermind the rest of it. Everything will be ok ❤

All I can say is "I feel you cysta". People do not understand how it affects your life. You literally think about your excess hair every day, especially if it's on your face. The stares and then you get people who comment - as if I'm oblivious to it. Just trying to get through the day without being shamed for something you can't control. Have done 2 rounds of IPL Laser (probably 12 sessions each), knowing that it would take time, but the shaving for maintenance in between just made it so much worse. The second round though I felt like I was seeing more results. Once the results plateaued, I started with Epilfree Waxing; it's been about 2yrs now. Still have plenty of hairs left. Recently read that the waxing might have even been stimulating the hairs (How depressing and discouraging!?). Now considering going for Electrolysis and really hoping it works for me too. (Just so ready to be free from this prison, you know?). And recently started moving to a Gluten-Free diet and Spearmint Tea, in addition to my medication to try help with symptoms.

My chin...exploded with dark thick hairs. Your photos are so similar to how my chin looks now. The worst part is feeling gaslit by the laser hair removal workers making me feel like I was the one doing something wrong. Nobody believed that my hair got worse BECAUSE of the laser. It's validating to know someone else had the same exact experience. It's 100% the laser causing the hair growth. Lasering a woman with PCOS is not advisable. It stimulates hair to grow in the woman with PCOS. Because the PCOS woman has an elevated testerone level which allows her to produce hair in typically "male pattern zones" (face, neck, jaw, chest, back). Laser most likely kills the hair that it can see at the time of the treatments but after a series of laser it has stimulated many other hair follicles and here comes a lot of stimulated hair months later..... Same story could be told by a young male having his back laser. He does the treatments and 1-2 years later he feels like he has more hair than before....because it stimulated his hair growth that would come in over the next 20 or more years. If he has the laser treatments after 40 he will tell a different story.... it would be a story of hair reduction. Electrolysis is the only solution for facial hair in the woman with any hormone issue. In my opinion I would never, never, never allow laser on a woman face. If you desire to laser pubic, underarms, lower legs....laser can work wonderful! (All the underarm and pubic hair is already turned to terminal coarse hair and it will be zapped by laser forever.... there will be very few wispy hairs left that are usually wispy for laser to see). Finish your wispy hairs with Electrolysis!

I do have a problem with the pictures that you showed after your first treatment. I have never had a client leave my office that experienced scabs appearing after treatment. This should not happen. You might get irritation, swelling and redness but never ever scabs...this can lead to scars which I have from previous electrolysis treatments. You also might be getting these scabs from the type of treatment you are receiving. I perform thermolyis only and I believe that the blend or glavanic method can do this. Good luck with your treatment.

The place I got laser hair removal had an experienced trained RN so she taught me some things. I used to get my underarms and ‘Brazilian’ which are sensitive areas for me. I wanted to do this on my legs, but she advised that I’d be wasting money since it works best on dark hair and that light colored hair (light brown or blond) gets nourished by the laser heat so it doesn’t “kill” it. For pain, ask your physician to prescribe you Lidocaine. It’s a white cream that you apply to the skin (apply a thick layer) and keep it on for 1hr before your session and it will numb the skin. Place plastic food wrap over it to keep it from rubbing off. It works great, I promise!!! I used to cringe when I got my Brazilian done, but an esthetician on RU-vid who does elect recommended Lidocaine and it was truly pain free (my pain tolerance is usually high). Laser isn’t permanent so I’m looking into electrolysis now. Laser hair removal does grow back if you stop doing the touch-ups. I wish you the best outcome, keep doing electrolysis!

Hun I'm sure you already know.. but diet and excerise is a MASSSSSSSSSSSSIVE game changer when it comes to PCOS having struggled with it myself for years esp the facial hair, I noticed my horrendous diet made my hair thicker and come back as fast as lightening. However as soon as I changed my diet, worked out 4/5x a week and used a cream called vaniqa - has to be prescribed my hair became thinner, not all but just some.. I still have to remove my hair every single freaking day.. and worst part is sometimes it's not even grown enuf to be removed so I sit there painting my face with layers upon layers of foundation to hide it as I haaaaaate the way people judge. Diet and exercise and stress...if you can grab hold of these you WILL see changes there's no cure for PCOS but even the smallest change will make a big difference to your life! Best of luck to the PCOS gang! ❤️

My dearest Melis, I'm so sorry I never discovered this video until now. I know exactly why your hair grew back worse...and why others who commented below also had that experience. If I wrote the explanation all out it may be confusing so I'm going to add a link to a Dermatologist who does an excellent job explaining as well as educating about (true) laser hair removal and explains IPL hair removal. In short - the reason your hair grew back worse is because your hair growth was stimulated by the settings being too low. You & your co-worker were probably being cautious and had the settings too low. It's tricky because if they're too high you can burn but if it's too low it will stimulate hair growth especially for those of us with PCOS. MY TIP: Before someone starts ...or re-starts laser hair removal, shave the area and track the hair growth in a calendar (you can use those cheap little ones that come in the mail for free). See how long it takes to get stubble and keep shaving and tracking it. If possible, try to figure out when your hair is in it's "anagen phase" I hope this helps anyone with unwanted hair growth. ANOTHER TIP: I found using pure aloe vera pulp on the skin after a treatment helpful whether it was in a plant or in a bottle that I keep in the fridge. Good luck to all From Sunshine in Toronto Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gzjEsfFd2yw.html

I had and still occasionally have electrolysis done, mostly jawline and a bit upper lip. I didn't have as much hair as you did, but a significant amount that caused me so much stress and shame. I didn't wanna be touched. It is much better now, disregarding the odd hair. It all started when I started to pluck hair in that area. I stopped doing it and it helped a lot. I'm getting laser treatment done on my body, hope it won't be a waste- All the procedures are soooo expensive! Thanks for being so open - for a long time I thought I was the only hairy woman.

Brave girl, thanks for sharing this. I had the same problem as you. I’m finishing my laser sessions. I feel it’s worked on my body but no difference on my face. I’m considering electrolysis now.

You unfortunately cannot cure PCOS. I have PCOS too. You can only treat the symptoms but there is no way to rid yourself of PCOS entirely

@@SharlizeLyn what are the consequences of Pcos? is it impossible to get pregnant? i just got to know i hv pcos too..im kinda worried...anf have a lot of dark black hair and its kinda annoying

@@kppi.1161 , i think it's different for everyone because it can manifest differently. Apparently there are 5 types of PCOS. I'm only familiar with mine. My symptoms included: - rapid sudden weight gain - erratic periods. Like I would have a reverse period (bleed for 3 weeks, 4 days clear, and then repeat). And then it would shift to having no periods for 7 months.... and then bleeding for 10 months straight. It was completely unstable and almost left me anaemic. - I became insulin resistant. People with PCOS can become insulin resistant much faster than others. Which is what triggered the sudden weight gain. - the most obvious thing that gave me the diagnosis was that a scan revealed my ovaries are inflamed and are covered in cysts around the edge (hence POLYCYSTIC OVARY in PCOS). These cant be removed because they're basically everywhere. Google images if you're not squeamish - and a few doctors told me I was infertile and was not ovulating despite bleeding so much . But fortunately this can be reversed. So as a result... I am on birth control. This is the typical method of hormone therapy used to manage my period and hormone issues. So as long as I'm on the pill, I'll have a stable period once a month. And my hormones are the wrong way around. So I have low oestrogen levels and high progesterone. These levels usually trigger a period , which is why I would constantly bleed . So because the oestrogen levels are very low, the effects of testosterone are more harsh on the body. I dont have any more testosterone than I should but I have too little oestrogen to balance it out. So I have thicker hair and my hair on my head falls out quite a bit, so I avoid brushing it too too much. I'm also on metformin (anti diabetic medication) to reverse the insulin resistance. Because IR is pre-diabetes. It can be reversed before it progresses to full out type 2 diabetes. The best advice i can offer is to go to a gynae (if you have not already), and be put on a birth control pill that agrees with your body and that "corrects" the imbalance. Because if you have pcos, you MUST have some hormone imbalance. the pill basically can help when it comes to having children. Apparently when you and your partner are ready to have children, you use the pill as you would if you were using it for contraceptive purposes, and try to conceive immediately after stopping the pill. I am not married or interested in children right now, so I cant speak from experience on the topic of conceiving with PCOS, but A LOT of women in my family had undiagnosed reproductive issues (probably pcos , because it is hereditary) and struggled excessively to conceive. Because back then it was taboo to go to a gynae and they had weird myths about why people who struggle to conceive etc. Silly shit honestly . I hope this helps. My best advice is to use the pill and manage the symptoms. Realistically that is the best you can do but also kinda all you can do. You cant reverse pcos. But if you would be open with adopting children, then you could have your ovaries removed and will no longer suffer with symptoms . But that is the last resort and is usually considered after managing to have kids and wanting to be rid of the symptoms. All the best hun

It’s your age, that’s why they recommend to do this after 25, some spend thousands before 22/25 and then it grows back cuz you get this last hormonal boost around 25.

Hey Melis! I have PCOS as well. One thing that I discover during a medical congress is never user pulsed light treatments if you have PCOS. It'll come back worst or in other area of your body. The best choice is LASER hair removal treatments or electrolysis. Also, it's very important to watch your diet. The low carb diet and keto diet are the best . :)

Simone McKee Thanks for the info! I had no idea ipl could make it worse but I’m glad that I went back to electrolysis. The hair is pretty much gone now. I struggle with following diets but definitely need to find a way to stick to it. Thanks again ☺️

May I ask you one thing. You have had laser on your body too, would you like to reveal whether body hair returned too or not, if yes was it reduced or thin or same prior to the laser procedures? Would be thankful if you do reply!

I hate when people say hair can't grow back worse....yes it can. I plucked ONE hair in my arm and that one hair always grows back darker in comparison to the other ones
